Here's a thought. Why don't you window makers stop using cheap plastic tilt latches? They break all the time. I have replaced dozens of these in my home. Make them out of metal and they won't break in the first place. This is why I will never buy anything other than Anderson or Pella in the future.

My right window tilt latch broke off at the grip. The spring still works, and the latch function still works, but there is no where to grip the latch to unlatch it. Can I just drill a bunch of holes into the piece until I drill through the spring, and then make the thing unlatchable? How do I tell what brand of windows I have to get a replacement tilt latch? I have economy windows, whatever the builder installed on my economy house.

OF COURSE THE LATCH TAB POINTS OUT ('its little wing is out" ), THIS PERSON DOESN'T *EXPLAIN* THE FLAT BASE of the POINTED END OF THE TAB SHOULD BE CLOSEST TO THE INSIDE!
