good stuff here I know I have to do mine next weekend on my 2009 F-150 i think it is the left one but i think i am going to replace them both within a month of each other. just need to buy both torque wrenches

My 2011 ford F150 is 4wheel drive. But when I put it in 4high or low the hubs seem to not be locking in. Would replacing these fix that problem. I have checked everything out. It's got vacuum and the actuator is good. But 4 wheel doesn't seem to work..

Thanks for this! My mechanic quoted me $1,865.00 including tax out the door. Seems way too steep. I was thinking maybe 1k. Anyone reading this have an idea of what the average cost is for this proceedure? I'm just gonna order parts and either hire a freelance mechanic or do it my damn self.👍

This so much less a pain in the neck than doing a Superduty. There are so many little bits and pieces in the Hub assembly of a superduty truck. I have to do hubs on my 2WD F150, looking forward to just unbolting the hub and replacing.

I can't get my CV axle to remain still while trying to remove the axle nut how do I keep the CV axle in place while turning the axle bolt?

Great video!!! Super helpful. Made it easy to follow. Only issue is I screwed up and didn’t catch the inch pounds vs foot pounds on the CV bolt. Snapped it right off....you got a video that shows how to change the passenger side CV axle 🙈

Was the torque on the axel nut 250 inch pounds or 150 inch pounds?

Great video as always...I been meaning to suggest that you should say WHY you are doing the repair and perhaps demonstrate the failure ...time permitting. I'm a novice I can follow instructions but maybe not the best at actual diagnosis.this would us to throw time, energy, and parts at the right problem.......I think I need to do this repair...I have a row row rowing sound coming from the front end and my milage is crap....is this a symptom. .....?

Is your truck 4WD? If it sounds like you're dragging chains, check the IWE solenoid first. Rolling sounds that change with speed and angle of the steering wheel indicate wheel bearing failure. A bad wheel bearing will have no measurable effect on fuel mileage, thats most likely spark plugs.

yes 4wd ...and yes it does seem to change in pitch when turning / banking right. Almost like the shift in weight is taking pressure off of one of the hubs. I had similar issue with 01 f150 and that did cure it it....Thanks...just needed a "consult"

spark plugs been changed...im wondering if bad ball joints have chewed up the tires also .....contributing to the noise and mileage

Aren't there also vacuum lines. My hub doesn't engage when the vacuum is removed so it must be the hub right?

Correct. They are vacuum-actuated IWE solenoids.

What is the consiquence if I was torqing that nut under dust cap at about 60lbs it busted the tip off that the little threads the nut screws onto?

That little bolt should be about 20 ft lbs.

2012 fx2 is different. Its a one piece. No center bolt. Fully incased. No greasing

That's what I want to know my started squeaking when it gets hot but not sure what it is on the driver side

I've gone through the experience twice now, and both times it started with a high pitch squeak. Then they went to the low hum like a tire but didn't really change sound with the speed. One of ways to tell is to safely turn your wheel while driving and listen if it stops then starts again when you straighten it back out.

This helps a lot ! But I was wondering I have a 2011 f150 it was making like a huming noise and stretching on the from passenger side then it stopped. The other day I was driving home and the truck jerked me into the other lane and fel like the front passenger wheel wanted to lock up and then it was on then it did it again ? Could this be from the barring being bad I usually do my own Macanic work but I was wondering since the truck had never done that before

Also when I put the truck in the air and try to spin the front passenger wheel it doesn’t spin freely it’s slow and looks forced

Does the noise stop if you turn the wheel left or right? Do it at a safe time on the road and listen for it.

studley johanson no it makes that noise when I’m turning I can even hear it when I’m driving slow like when the wheel rotates it sounds like a clang clang every time it spins

Getting that far into it it's wise to replace the IWE as well while your in there.

One thing to mention is you didn't add any thread sealant on the 2 brake caliper bolts. I had one fall off one time off roading because I forgot to add this when I changed my brake pads.
