Thank you! We could not have replaced this part without this instruction! 🙏🏻

Nice explanation and video.. only one thing a soft mallet would be nicer for the threaded axle. It's nice to see the gears are easily replaceable because I am looking at this type of motor in a new ebike and I was worried about durability. Thank you for posting this.

Very helpful video. I used this video to replace the gears in my Juiced Bikes Cross Current. The clutch had started slipping under power.

@@peterdebonoolppokkkjhg2215 No, mine was slipping. I would pedal or hit the throttle and I could hear the motor spinning but there was no motor assistance.

@@peterdebonoolppokkkjhg2215 That means she's ready to fail, only use it on the flats or it will crunch on you, lost mine the other day, just one hill too many and she's a mess, I'm buying a 1000w no gear next time as they last longer

@@ianmangham4570 thanks Ian. is there any way to repair it? mechanically looks fine, redid the wire loom as it was frayed. the magnets around the inside of the hub can be moved with a screwdriver, I thought maybe the grinding noise was the magnets moving around inside the hub as the motor turned

@@peterdebonoolppokkkjhg2215 If the magnets are loose it will be the noise most likely, use as some epoxy resin and glue them 👍

Hi you find the gears on aliexpress website or ebay but you need first to know the diameters measurment of your gears by using special tool that you can find on amazon. I just replaced mine from aliexpress website.

Thanks so much for this comprehensive video! Really appreciated! How many kilometers do you think a Mariner 500 watt motor will go before we should replace the gears?
@VoltbikeCanada
@VoltbikeCanada 6 лет назад
In around 3 years period and out of few thousand bikes sold, we had to replace gears may be 2 or 3 times in total. Probably in you bike lifespan you will never have to replace gears. Those gears are made of heavy duty plastic and is extremely rare to experience any issue. We uploaded this video mostly to complete our "How-To" video section.

I am wondering if it would be ok to use steel gears since they are available ? because for these motors there are nylon and steel gears available for these Bafang motors. also there are two different style gears available for this model motor they come in set of 3 gears one set has only 28 teeth and the other set of 3 gears has 36 teeth so which set should be used an what differences would it make between using 28 teeth or using 36 teeth gears thank you for any help you can provide it is greatly appreciated thanks sincerely jaymus
@Troobeli69
@Troobeli69 3 года назад
@@neverumindnevertell2616 I would prefer using the nylon gears, because nylon woukd propably fail before metal and therefore you would only need to change the gears. Pergaps the reason of choosing the nylon instwad of metal gears?

Are all gear sets the same? I have a 1000 watt retroblade motor for a hyperscrambler 2.

Every motor is with different style gears. For example Bafang SWX02 and G060 are using different size gears. You should look for your specific motor and model number.

I have the front hub version of this laced into a 20" hub running on 52V. I always out pedal it and need it faster to actually assist. Does anyone make a different gear ratio set?

Thanks a lot for this awesome video. I have a befang 8Fun 250W motor. The motor is very noisy already, and has few power. I think the planetary gears are weared. It is good if I replace only the 3 gears?
@thegee-tahguy4877
@thegee-tahguy4877 3 года назад
QUESTION... Do you (or anyone) know if those same planetary gears are used in the very common Bafang 750 W rear hub motor (RM G060.750.DC)? I want to upgrade mine to metal gears as soon as my warranty period is over. Since my motor is on warranty still, I cannot pull it apart to check the specs of the planetary gears, and unfortunately those specs are not available anywhere on-line. After some unconfirmed research on a Chinese web site, I believe the gears are 36 tooth 47.8mm outside diameter x 13.3mm thick, but that's just a guess. I am not sure if the bearing is a 606 or 608 bearing. Any confirmation at all would be ultra helpful.

I wouldn’t recommend metal the nylon protects the hub gear and if it fails it will ruin it the nylon r made to fall apart when they fail making easier to replace and protects the hub

does anyone make metal replacement gears for this motor?
@abdouallahuniverse5689
@abdouallahuniverse5689 3 года назад
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔You didnt say why are you changing the gears in the first place which is stock free wheel clutch or damaged plastic white gears, in your situation, the clutch is not working because the gears lock fine, Second problem in your video is the grease to be used, which is the lithium grease that is compatible with plastic, otherwise those plastic gears will be destroyed.
@LS8eighteen
@LS8eighteen 4 года назад
NO adjustable wrenches! Get the proper tools. Use a plastic hammer. Synthetic grease is best. Always use your cell phone for pictures when disassembling. I also would have mentioned to do some thorough cleaning of the parts before applying lubricants and re-assembling.

why wouldnt they use metal gears instead of whatever material those are do avoid having to do a replacement like this doesnt make much sense as it seems its designed to break and replace.
