This is a Lenovo LEGION 5
Model:15IMH05H screen replacement guide
To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord. Normally it is better
to remove the battery but in this case it is too much work to do, so we have to be very
careful with the connectors.
Start removing the bezel. Pull the inner edge of the bezel away from the glass unsnapping
the tabs underneath. Start from the left side and then go around the perimeter.
Put the bezel aside.
The LCD is glued to the back cover. There are two plastic tabs at the bottom that can be used
to remove the glue from underneath the LCD screen. Use a tweezers to pick up the tab and pull
the tub removing the stretching stripe of glue from the right side. Pick the tub
on the left side and pull out the stripe of glue form the left side. In our case we were able
to partially remove the glue from the bottom part. The screen is still held in place with a glue
on the top. Use a plastic pic to pry off the screen from the back cover. Pull out the remaining
stripe of glue from underneath the screen.on the right side. Remove the remaining glue on the
left side. Place the LCD on the keyboard.
The video connector is secured with a clear tape. Using plastic pick and fingers gently peel off
the tape. Open the connector bracket. Disconnect the video cable. Discard the old panel.
Take the new LCD screen and place it on the keyboard. Reconnect the video cable and close the
connector's bracket. Secure the connector with a clear tape.
CAUTION! It is very important not to force any connectors.
As well you must not twist or slant the connector when plugging it in.
Lift the screen up and lean it on the back cover. We now can taste the screen.
Turn the laptop on. The start up graphics appear and we can finish the installation process.
Your new display is likely to come with no adhesive. We offer standard double-sided adhesive
tape for such repairs on our site: laptopscreen.com. Peel off one piece of tape from the set
and apply it on the right side of the back cover making sure that the tab wouldn't be under
the screen, so we can pull the glue out in case we need to replace the screen again.
Remove the protective film from the adhesive. Apply another piece of tape on the left side
of the back cover. Remove the protective film.
Lift the screen up and using a fine microfiber cloth apply pressure to the display along
the edges to catch the adhesive. Remove the protective film from the new screen.
Now we can replace the bezel. Start from the bottom pressing firmly to snap the tabs in.
Go around the perimeter. Use one hand to support the back cover while snapping the tabs along
the bottom edge.
Reconnect the power cord. Turn the laptop on. And we are done!

Before you start replacing the matrix, the first thing you need to do is disconnect the battery so that there is no power because in this way you can only damage the matrix
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen Год назад
While disconnecting the battery is a good precaution, it is not a hard requirement, provided care is exercised when plugging in the connector. The LCD is almost never damaged if the connector is shorted during installation. But the laptop can get damaged. That is why it's important to use both hands to direct the video cable when hooking it up to the LCD.

There is no particular date yet, but the item is expected to be stocked some time soon. It takes time for the higher spec screens to filter down to 3rd party replacement market.

You may be able to remove it. But plugging it back in may be tough because the connector comes from under the display and is fairly short.

www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Lenovo/LEGION%205%2015IMH05H/ The one shown has 40 pins because it was a 144Hz refresh rate screen, it was upgraded to a 165Hz screen. You can click "upgrade options" button on our site for listings that can be upgraded.

is there a glossy version for the same laptop model? And what does "-$2 Matte IPS, 1080p, Professional color range" mean? cuz I read the descriptions and didn't get it also what is the difference between the "-$2 Matte IPS, 1080p, Professional color range" and the original display of the laptop?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 9 месяцев назад
No, there are no Glossy options that we offer for this laptop. The -$2 is the cost of upgrade, a discount in this case due to commodity pricing (higher quality display is cheaper because of less demand). In this particular case its a Matte 144Hz 40-pin display with a slightly better color gamut than the original.

Idk if there is a 144hz screen for a Legion. I know 165hz exists. Coincidentally, it also has better color accuracy compared to the 120hz panel.

nice video, is normal to have screen bleeding in this model?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen Год назад
No, its not really normal. If the bleeding is around the edges it could be that the bezel is pressing on the LCD too hard, you could try to remove the bezel and remount it.

how did you remove the bezel so easily without breaking it ?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen Год назад
I guess its years of experience :) The trick is pull from the inner edge and just be careful - if it's not coming apart easily try a different angle. You may break a couple of plastic snap tabs underneath, but it's not the end of the world, just go slow and don't bend the plastic too much.

Do you rally need double side electrical tape. Or would any double sided thin tape do. Also why does the official service guide say you have to do much more to remove this?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 20 дней назад
Any double sided tape will do, we're not using electrical tape. The hardware maintenance manual says to remove the display assembly before clawing out the LCD because it is based off the internal recycling/disassembly guide.

Hi i have 2k 165hz (legion5" 5 15 ith6h ) can i go to 240hz
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 9 месяцев назад
Likely not, unless that computer was offered with that option, the pin-out maybe different on your current video cable. Sharp makes a 240Hz panel that would fit your laptop physically: LQ156M1JW03 One thing (lie) to note about high refresh rate LCDs is that unlike old school CRTs that would literally redraw the entire image with every Hertz cycle, LCDs don't actually redraw anything that doesn't change. And even if they did, the example Sharp panel boasts a Black to White response rate of 8ms, and since there are only 1,000 ms in a second, that would mean that each pixel in the panel could transition from White to Black 1,000/8=125 times in a second. Well at-least the Sharp datasheet is honest in that it defined the response time as White to Black; as other manufacturers boast 1ms response times measured GtG - Grey to Grey - or how long the pixel takes to transition one (loosely defined) shade of grey and can still only manage 8ms B/W. Simply put, your computer (video driver) may show 240Hz being sent to the panel, but what you see on-screen frame-wise would not go beyond 125 fully different frames per second, but as mentioned previously LCDs don't redraw, so you'll have to send 125 different pictures to it in a second, and then if you were to film that with a high speed camera - you would not be able to get any of the original pictures from it - it would be a complete unrecognizable mess. I'm a proud owner of a 240Hz "gaming" desktop monitor and a high speed camera, and the feeling of it is nothing compared to a gloriously honest 120Hz CRT from 2 decades ago.

Ammm By detaching the edp caple without battery removing (or in case of lenovo disabling in UEFI utility) could lead to video chip damage.
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 4 месяца назад
Damage is to the LED backlight power sub system, not the GFX chip itself. Damage is possible because laptop manufacturers choose to provide power to BackLight-Enable pin whether computer is on or off. Damage occurs when said pin is touched to ground or any other pins if the connector is fiddled with. Always use both hands to remove and attach the connector to avoid touching the connector jacket with any live pins. LCDs can be swapped with the computer fully turned on, as long as extreme care is taken to properly plug and unplug the connector.

I've replaced my dying screen but now the laptop doesn't even power on, even when I've switched back to the old screen....what do you think may have happened here? I now have a non functioning laptop!
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen Год назад
Most common reason for that is that the pins in the video connector that weren't supposed to touch other pins in the video jack or the jack's shielding have touched and caused a short to ground to the backlight power sub system. The motherboard will require component level repair in order to function properly again.

People! Take out (disconnect) the copulating battery. Alternatively don't let the connector on the end of the video cable touch the metal part of the back cover.
