@@ScubaMoto I managed to change the bulb earlier (took a while - they were pretty stubborn to get out).... Then I find out I got standard lights and not the white coloured ones.... Anyway, the warning light still shows after changing them out, and I can't reset it in the options. Any ideas?
LeeR: Great job on the bulb replacement. Once all causes are addressed, the system will automatically cancel the dash warning after several minutes, there is no need or option to reset anything. Some failed bulbs on the circuit are easy to miss and will trigger the dash warning. Check both license plate bulbs, both brake lights, the upper brake light over the rear window, and both running lights. You might also want to check both reverse light bulbs. If they all check out okay, then the problem is likely caused by LED bulbs that do not have built-in resistors that have been installed in the system. I have more on this in the video description in the "Note at Bottom". I hope that helps.

Thanks, I'm glad it helped. It's not that uncommon and is likely just dried road mud gluing it in place but it could be the contact terminals are oxidized. They can get joined together (kind of welded) by the oxidation caused by the snow melt type chemicals and hopefully they aren't completely shot. The terminals can get damaged if you force it; so if you have penetrating oil, spray it heavily and check it in an hour or two. If it's not loose, spray it again generously and let it sit overnight. If you don't have penetrating oil, WD40 should work for these. Just be sure you clean off the oil before re-installation to prevent possible shorting since WD40 and penetrating oil are both conductive. I hope that helps.

It might be the only symbol that is even less intuitive than the exterior light symbol that is the focus of this video. First of all, in spite of it seeming urgent due to the lightning bolt; it's NOT a warning. The 3/4 round with a lightning bolt inside is supposed to represent the look of an old electronic gauge. The bolt being the electronic part, and the round being the face of an old retro gauge. Why are they showing you that you ask? Because you must have the display in the mode showing either average fuel consumption, instantaneous consumption, actual speed, average speed or temperature. You see, those are readings from gauges, and those gauges used to be round and have electronic sensors. Ridiculous? Yes, until you know the above. Then it's like, "Oh, of course I'm in gauge mode". Andres: I want to make sure I understand what you're saying. You said you replaced the bulb and it's not working. So your parking lights are working on one side but not on the side you replaced? If so, switch the bulbs between the left and right side and let us know what happens.

sawsaw123abc: You're welcome. I'm glad the video helped. Your experience is pretty common with LED replacements. These cars see most LEDs as burned out bulbs and react with the according dash warnings. I put a note in the bottom of the video description about it.
Hey nik peterson: That will happen with some LED's since many LED bulbs have too low of a resistance for the computer to detect. When this happens, it will just indicate a bad bulb. If it is for a blinker and not a parking light, then the resistance may also be too low to trigger the flasher, so the blinker won't blink. Here is a link for LED lamps with resistors that will work "error free": amzn.to/3kGbt6z. If everything is working okay, then you can probably just leave the non-resistor LED, enjoy the brighter LED and ignore the dash light. Otherwise an additional resister would be necessary with your LED bulb to fool the computer/flasher and it may not be worth the trouble. Good luck and thanks for watching.

My mini is shooting those codes but I have no lights out all of them work. I go through the bc and run the service check and it doesn’t indicate what lights out either. I’ve also replaced all bulbs and still can’t get that light to turn off

i have a bit of a problem. that error light popped up and i saw that both side markers on the right side were burnt out. i replaced both of them and they work perfectly. however, that error light still comes on and i dont know why. do you have any idea what this could be?

The vehicle auto cancels the dash light when the failed bulbs are replaced but there is a note at the bottom of the video description that will help you in the right direction.

My drivers side low beam quit working, as well as blinkers, taillights and other exterior lights. Checked and replaced fuses and relays, installed new headlight connectors and still no improvement. I'm frustrated and overwhelmed. What's the next thing I should check? What about the BCM?
@S johnson: It's likely that the footwell module (FRM) has failed. It should be FWM, but the German word for footwell module is FußRaumModul. About $250 to have rebuilt, $500 for a refurb or $1,500 for a new one. A failed alternator and running on battery only are likely the cause. Although I'm not convinced that FRM failures don't cause battery/alternator failures. So, chicken or egg? These cars are a bit temperamental to battery/charging/grounding issues. Confirm before replacing or repairing. You can try to read IBD codes but FRM failures often render the IBD system unusable as well. You may need a dealer to confirm my diagnosis (if the module can establish communications). If it can't, it's failed anyway. Sorry about the issue.
theo nekros: The dash light will eventually go out when the computer detects that the failed lamp is replaced. If the dash light still doesn't go out, there may still be a lamp to replace - or - one of them may be an LED. Please let us know what happens. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

theo nekros: brake light is different from what is discussed in the video. A brake warning light usually indicates that brake pads have reached a wear point and should be replaced. But you might want to check the third brake Light (upper light above rear window). They can go out and also trigger a dash light. Again, please let us know what you find.

i have the exact same warning, in my case its a rear light. I changed the bulb already but they still dont light up, I think my fuses might be out. Do you know where I can find a legend for the fuse box diagram??
Jorge Marquez: Which rear light went out? Is yours an R56? If so and if it was your parking lights, I believe that some of the running lights are on Fuse number F10, a 15 amp fuse on the fuse panel that is located in the engine compartment. There is also a fuse box in the outer wall of the passenger foot-well. Each panel has a worthless image legend on the underside of the panel lid. Good luck and let us know what happens.
ScubaMoto I checked my fuses and all are fine and not busted. At this point I think it may be a problem with the wiring or light fixture itself. I appreciate the previous help regardless, thanks!
I found that the plastic can get twisted as the bulb is set in the housing and get stuck between the circuit board ant the contacts for the bulb holder, simply cleaning the plastic away from the circuit board fixed the problem when a new bulb did not work@@jorgemarquez146
I"ve re-checked every external light, just like in the video, and the headlights/brights, both stages of fog lights, every single light...and everything works. Yet the dash light still shows. Any tips?
Rickey Graham: I’m guessing that one or both of your license plate bulbs are out.Sadly, many external bulbs are tied to this dash warning. So you must check:-License plate bulbs (often overlooked - there are two in the rear)-Front and rear side markers (four total).-Front, middle and Rear turn signals. Reverse lights-Front Parking lights-Rear Parking lights-Brake lights (upper light rail and lower bulbs).I hope this helps. Please let us know what you find out.
I did the same thing. And then I found it: the upper portion of the left rear brake lamp (the lower portion worked so it didn't jump out as an obvious brake lamp out. Hope you found your issue.

These cars will always beep, but do you still have the same dash light symbol? If so, you may have more than one bulb out. Our dash light went off automatically when I replaced the bulb. Yours should also. Did you use a standard bulb to replace it? It may take a few minutes running for the computer to recognize it. If it doesn't, I would double check to make sure that no other external lights need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the dash light for "Replace External Lamp" doesn't indicate which external lamp needs replaced. You have to check them all. i will be replacing mine tomorrow but i was told that if the connectors (contacts ) are made of some inferior material the computer will not recognize it.not sure how i will ask for this but i will see ( i think mini uses bulbs with gold contacts ( again this is what i was told so not sure how true that is)
Martin Delgado: No special contact needed (gold or otherwise) Just a standard replacement bulb like the one shown in video will work. If the bulb comes on, then the computer should recognize it and eventually cancel the dash light. Mini just uses standard bulbs. As mentioned in video, any auto parts supplier will have a standard replacement. Some LED bulbs may have lower resistance. LED will work fine, but it's possible the computer may not register the lower resistance.

Amit Deo: The dash indicator should go out automatically when the burned out bulbs are replaced. You may have additional bulbs burned out. Check the license plate bulbs and the third brake Light (upper light above rear window). They can commonly go out and also trigger a dash light. Using Some LED bulbs can also cause it if their resistance is too low.
Amit Deo: The system is looking for a minimum resistance. Some LEDs have enough, some do not. Here is a link to LED lamps that have built in resistors and will work error free: amzn.to/3kGbt6z. If the LED draws too little, it will look like a blown bulb to the computer. Your choice is to "fool" the system by adding an in-line resistor, or live with the dash light and keep a close eye on all of your bulbs. For motorcycles, I use LEDs for safety (they're bright and visible). I just LED lamps with built in resistors or I add resistors. And for turn signals, you may need a resistor just to trigger the flasher.
i just cant get that little swine out..locked in solid sprayed WD40 on it ..will not turn ..mite have to take wheel off..but take wheel off just for that little thing...
rick66649: you mean the round cover hatch won't turn? Sometimes they're a bit glued in place by mud and such. If you can get a screw driver or a flat blade between the hatch and the fender well you can just work it all the way around under the edge of the hatch to separate it from the fender and that should release it.
