While it was a lot of work removing the whole door panel and I was worried that I would break something else, this video was very clear and easy to follow. I successfully replaced my power window switch!

@MexhomieXlll Check the wire harness that runs between the door and body of the vehicle, there may be a broken or frayed wire in the harness that needs to be repaired. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

You may want to check wire harness between the door and body of the vehicle for a broken or frayed wire. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

There was no need to remove the whole door panel but in your case you were removing it anyways. Not trying to be ignorant but this can save others and bit of time and frustration and possibly spare a few clips from being broken by the untrained hand. But this was a great video nonetheless. Also by taking the door panel off you can misalign that foam block and mess that up too. Totally unnecessary to take off the door panel.

Thanks for sharing! I saw Honda Service Bulletin 06-010 from March 8, 2006 that shows this can all be done from the outside without taking the door panel off. I was confused why you did that, and even after you got it off you, in the end, popped the portion that holds the master switch off from the part that was screwed in from the back as near as I can tell. Seems you may have caused a bit of extra work. That service bulletin is not extremely clear on the clip location to remove the switch base, but after watching your video I think it can be done without taking the door panel off. Maybe. :)

I just replaced mine yesterday. Indeed you do not have to remove the entire door panel. Only the control button housing.

Please pin to the top that the door panel does not need to come off to replace the door switch. You just pry off the the bottom side of the arm rest under the switches with a screwdriver, then there's a couple of screws holding the power window arm in. Then you take off 3 screws holding the switch in, and that's it! No need to remove the door panel and possibly misalign that foam block. I actually had to remove one of those foam blocks very early on when I got the car because it fell out of alignment and I didn't know how to take the door apart so I just left it off. If you misalign the foam it'll get in the way of the window going down.

I bought the master window switch and the two back buttons are hard to push up and down and sometimes get stuck idk if its the switch or the motor or relay that is not working correctly

Hello, I have a question. First, thank you for the great, thorough video! i have an 01 civic and I changed out my switch and fuses because my passenger window switch burned out on the master switch. However, after testing my new switch, the broken, front passenger side window works but now the front driver side window doesn't work. Any ideas??

I attempted to remove the passenger front door panel using a putting but it would not budge. I removed the cover near the mirror, disconnected the wire, removed the cover below the power switch, removed wire there, unscrewed the 2 Philips, removed the door look and disconnected the clip. No matter how force I put, I could prove open the panel. I follow these same steps for my 01 civic coupe and it worked with ease but I having a hard time with my 01 civic sedan. Any suggestions would be great?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe, and the lock cylinder of the driver's door fell inside the door panel (I assume something is loose or maybe broken & ready for a replacement) I cannot lock or unlock this car anymore!. Thanks to this video, I know how to remove the door panel, however I do not know how to replace or repair the key cylinder. Can you help me out? is there a video for this?

Hi, I loved your video. I replaced fuse and replaced master switch .(smoked with burning smell) The passenger side window worked 1 time! up and down then quit. Fuse still good..any ideas?

You may want to test the power going to and from the switch to see if there's power going to it. Also check the wire harness between the drivers side door and the body of the car to see if there's a broken or frayed wire that may need to be repaired. I have replaced my master switch and still no result. The new switch doesn't operate the driver door window nor the other 3. Currently the only window that works is the passenger side. I have a new window regulator for the driver door and the switch doesn't move it when tested. I've checked all wiring harnesses and Yes power to the driver door. Is there a key reset step process to go through after replacing the OEM bad master switch with a Aftermarket switch so the computer can talk to it. Thanks

hi any idea how or why the rear driver and passenger windows wont go up or down from master or from the rear of the vehicle..will replacing master fix all of them

Hi Michael, You may want to check the power going to the doors that are not working with a test light to see if there is power going to the window switch(s) and also the window motors. There may also be a broken wire between the drivers side door and the body of the vehicle, that could be preventing power to those doors. Hope this helps you out. Did anyone else's window switch fill the car with electronic smoke when it went out? Mine did twice, once during the right rear window death then another time when the passenger window stopped working.

@@1AAuto , hi, revising my comment, I reviewed several other vids and an online civic oem manual and there is no need to take off the entire door panel . access to the handle and window control module can be all be done by prying off the face of door handle, alone, and unscewing two screws and the entire mounting faceplate then slips out forward, and off alowing the wiring harness access and then with faceplate and switches in hand' some small screws remove the module from plate. please remove this vid...it is highly deceptive. please see other comments below...that were ignored. thx, gt, boise , idaho
