It would be a lot easier for us to do it ourselves if you didn't avoid the passenger side of the car like it has the plague. It is comparatively way more challenging to change this part on the passenger side, same with the upper control arms, and you do the same in that video. It very much seems these videos are either plain lazy or just a shady business tactic to make these part changes look as easy as possible to sell more parts. Either way is pretty crappy

Critique: you run the risk of damaging the threads on the bolt by hammering it in to align the holes in the part and mount. Much better, especially for the home mechanic, to adjust with the screwdriver and check with the bolt at least until the threads are mostly or completely through the mount and out of danger before using a mallet/hammer. Otherwise, great and clear instructions as usual 😎

Good material but the most relevant part for me was the way you lifted the tire. Wow!! that completely change the way I do it! Thanks for sharing!

Whats missing is the reason for replacing and the symptom it causes...noise.. shaking etc

Shouldn’t suspension components like this be torqued under load?
@negrumarius
@negrumarius 4 года назад
Haha :P You need to lower the car ( or use a jack under the wheel) ..and then tighten the arm otherwise the rubber on the bushings will be destroyed
@CousinRomulus
@CousinRomulus Год назад
The clamp load applies to the metal bushing insert not the bushing itself.
@44Celt
@44Celt 4 года назад
These arms are supposed to be torqued to spec with pre load on the suspension
@SamehKhan
@SamehKhan 4 года назад
Do you happen to know the spec for these bolts? Also, I agree with the preload comment.

Ok so driver side is easy peasy. But passenger side the gas tank is blocking the way do I have to move the tank to do this job on passenger? Or there is a easier way?

What are the symptoms of these being worn? I have an odd noise that I can't narrow down?
@BK3P
@BK3P Год назад
Could be the bushings that are worn out indeed. It is causing play and friction, which makes noises.

This is "REAR LATERAL LINK" , not lower control arm, you making people confused
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 4 года назад
+Adam Bomba Thank you for the feedback. This is the nomenclature we use for this part as the lateral links are different from control arms. The video shows where and what the part looks like to assist with any confusion. This would be similar to calling a control arm an A arm, it just depends on where you are and the different names for parts.

I ordered that component and calling it "rear lower control arm" you misled me.
@JewFroBoi
@JewFroBoi 4 года назад
this is not a control arm, as others have already said. This is a rear lateral link and you cannot say it is a control arm! look at the mazda manual! or any general car terms! Misleading because you argue it IS in fact a control arm to other comments which is a flat out lie

If someone is doing a job like this and they dont already know how to take a wheel off,then i would suggest that they shouldnt be doing this job at all
