Just ordered new struts for my e91, so did a quick search to see how they are swapped and found your video, nice and straight forward 👍 do you have any more videos that cover the e91 ?
My struts have just gone. BMW quoted me over £160 to replace them! Having seen this, I'm gonna do it myself. So, thank you for saving me a chunk of hard earned cash! 😊😊👍👍👍👍
Great post Mike and really helpful. A word of warning though, just in case you’re a Homer like me. The tailgate is EXTREMELY heavy, more than you’d think. One of my old struts was completely dead, and while scrabbling about with the screwdriver to remove the other I stopped supporting the tailgate weight/lost balance of it, tailgate slammed shut. Result. Very badly cut finger - lucky I didn’t lose it - and very slight damage to car body, where partially removed strut got caught between body and tailgate. Afterwards I cleaned myself up and finished the job fine. N.B. When lifting the tailgate to attach the second end of the strut you have to lift it a lot higher than you feel it should go. Moral of the story. It’s a 2-person job, and if you do it alone take real care 😂
Hello, I didn't really think to check before purchasing but the struts in the Amazon link you provide are not the same as the stabilus ones you are fitting in the video. Fitted them and they work but not as well as the OEM ones.
@@mikesunboxing had to over extend mine a touch more than I thought but it is now working a treat. Only one of them had blown but best to change both. 🙏
@@ZafiraSteve Strut is all ready broken why does it matter? And after you get new strut to otherside it can hold tailgate weight while you change otherside.
