Great video, thank you! So much easier and more working room to do on a 2 point car lift as opposed to the ground with jack and jackstands. So much for using new bolts though. :-)

just replaced the front driver side lower control arm in my 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. Definitely not as easy as this since you have to remove the motor mount. I highly suggest investing in an impact wrench. Hand tools are great but you can pick up an impact wrench for less than a $100 and that's what I'm going to use to do the passenger side control arm with. I didn't have any issues with stuck bolts; literally, the hardest thing to get off was the cotter pin for the ball joint. It just takes forever to ratchet these screws off. So if you want to be done in a timely manner impact wrench is the way to go. Plus if you are doing this type of work more than likely you will be doing a lot more work instead of bringing it to a mechanic. Invest in the correct tools for the job and for you.

Nice video. It would be better to unscrew the ABS sensor wire hanger from the chassis before unbolting the upper control arm so there is less stress on the wire. Reduce the chance of damaging it or the sensor.

My parents bought a civic brand new and never had the rear worked on by anyone and some how ended up with a set of adjustable rear control arms lol

You don’t need to counter-hold that bolt on the knuckle. It’s a welded nut. But I guess it doesn’t matter... Thanks for the video!

I have a 2006 civic si rear tires worn out uneven from inside. Apparently there was a law suit 2014 settlement by honda which I knew nothing about til now. So what should I replace the control arm with since the original one was the problem? Any suggestions??
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 5 лет назад
Thanks for checking us out. We only suggest replacing parts with items that are direct replacements of the original equipment. They, more than likely, have since updated the design in which the part manufactured to correct that issue. You can always contact the dealership to confirm this information as well. Hope this helps you out! +pntdblack

same case as mine. just install after market camber kit and do the alignment, problem would be fixed.

@@1AAuto I have the same problem on my 2008 Civic Hybrid. The stock control arms are wearing the inner side of the tire much quicker than the rest. Apparently they are too short so Honda changed the camber on the corrected parts

I ordered the parts of the rear upper control arms because I have the same issue as yours. I didn't have any idea that there was a lawsuit in 2014 settlement by honda. Do I need to replace them with the adjustable control arms or the same as the original ? How's your 2006 now I have 09 Civic Si and my fucking winter tires which I bought couple of years ago worn out on the inside really fast.

What noises so they make when they're going bad? I hear a noise when breaking. I replaced the hubs already so this is the only thing left I could think of brakes a good as well.
@MAS68saxophone
@MAS68saxophone 3 года назад
These would make a clunk noise under load like metal on metal, noise when braking depends on how it sounds, if its grinding or squeaking then it's the brakes

Is this the reason these civics have rear end trouble?
@alonsosmobileautorepair8862
@alonsosmobileautorepair8862 3 года назад
To my knowledge yes. The original arm is actually too short. So the tires wear on the inside due to the camber. Also I’ve seen that people should change the rear sway bar to the 14’ handles much better. Currently gonna do that to mine.
