I’ve had a tiny leak coming from the shift shaft seal for about a year now always thought I had to pull the tranny out. I finally searched how to do it and it was super easy. Decided to make a quick vid in how I did it.
I just changed my first ever transmission and noticed days ago that I was leaking a fair amount of trans oil i got to say thanks for the video and the information given lifesaver haha
Bruhh!. I appreciate you tough u just helped me solve my problem. I replaced the axle seals and it just started leaking one day within the next day. N I also hit a speed bump n hit the shifter. It probably Teard it when I went over it sheesh had me second thinking my job. Once again thanks allawt! Stay blessed
Contacted ATG about this. I applied Silicone Paste on the outside & inside of the Oil Seal after cleaning the Shaft and surrounding areas. They also recommend me to replace the round bushing on the Shift Shaft (2:54) because a lot of play when shifting. I hope your back is now well, Calavera Chronicles.
@@CalaveraChronicles You can be in pain from other parts of the body. But the back makes one daily life /or chore a pain all over. My late husband was shot in the back and captured. Lucky the enemy let him go by way of an exchanges. But later in an Black Op he died.
You only wanna apply silicone to the outside surface area of shift shaft seal. Never do the inside, the shift shaft rides on the inside of the seal and needs to move freely
Hmmm that’s a good question. I haven’t done an L3 but I feel like it should be. I would take off the old seal and take it in to compare with the new seal just to be 100% sure
Daughter & shift shaft seal arrived from USA for 2000 Civic EX (5 speed). Honda # 91215-PL3-005. Thank you for providing the phone number Calavera Chronicles.
I recently put a new seal but it leaks from the inside of the seal where the shift rod goes through. Any recommendations? I was thinking of replacing the seal with a different one maybe I ended up buying a defective seal from ebay.
Üblivious I highly highly recommend going OEM on seals from Honda. Or you run into firmest issues. Not saying all non oem seals are not worth it. But when you can avoid a chance to mess up try to do so.
@@CalaveraChronicles I looked them up and they don't look the same. Just called my homda dealership to ask if they had it and it's out of stock. Hmmmmm
@@yourmom705 oh I see. Ok there’s a the part number listed in the comments. Honda and Acura sometimes share the same parts. Try calling an acura dealership.
Can I use any other oil brand besides honda transmission fluid? I was thinking royal purple or lucas , but I see your fluid it's like engine oil is it really that thin? Thanks for the help
daniel marroquin yeah you can use other oil but just do the research and see what works best for you. I’m personally using amsoil because I have the mfactorY LSD and that’s what synchrotech advice me to use with it .
Yeah, it's super thin. I keep hearing the same thing from everyone rebuilding transmissions on hondas: DON'T USE GEAR OIL. Don't use anything too thick. If you're not going to use synchromesh then just use regular 30w engine oil. Obviously, use synchromesh if you can but 30w oil is what I keep hearing to use.
My car was swapped(different motor and transmission from Japan) so im not sure how many miles are on it. By now I would say most oem seals are drying up due to how low it’s been since they were first put on.
are you able to just put the bitch pin back in does it need to go a certain way? im missing mine ive been looking all day on how to properly install it :(
I want to say it doesn’t matter. Never really looked at what direction just make sure it goes in kinda snug. The c clip usually holds it in place after you slide the bitch pin in
If you loose the pin. Get any metal rod (cut to length) and little smaller in diameter. Then apply high temp silicone on the metal rod (make sure the Shift Rod's Hole is clean) and insert. Last place back the large C-Clip and booth back on.
Alessandro Noll oh ok look at your motor by the header. If there’s a letter “B” and a number on a manual transmission example B16 B18 B20 B17 Then you have a B series transmission
Calavera Chronicles I’m in a Trip now, but my Honda Civic is 2007/2011 here at Brazil, in U.S.A I believe that be 2005/2012, the repair original number Honda is 91209-612-000
