You would think Mazda would make it a little easier to replace the cabin filter. It’s not as hard on any of my other cars. No wonder why it was never changed before!

This is a great video. I just bought a 2007 Mazda 3 with 72,000 miles. I'm replacing all the filters and fluids, as the last owner couldn't tell me much about the service history. The cabin filter replacement process is much harder than it needs to be. Thanks for the video. You made it as quick and as painless as could be expected. The cabin filters had never been changed. They were caked with dirt and leaves.

I have a 2007 got it in aug 2006 I have right now over 120,000 miles on it and I have never changed it either... who thought up this. Why the cabin filter and why such a damn stupid place for it to be.

Wow, I didn't even know this car had a cabin filter :0 Saw it might exist on Amazon parts... ooops. Very good video, Thank You for your help and expertise!

How you remained so calm and patient getting to that filter just blows my mind. I have done it a couple times now and it still gets me so worked up! If it isnt the wiring harnesses giving me a hard time when i go to pull or replace the fuse box its the 12mm bolts and if its not the bolts then its getting the fuse box on/off of the bracket. And then when i get everything all back in place i go to turn the car on and something isnt working...power door locks, AC, turn signals. So back down i go, into some Twister-style position to unhook and rehook all of the wiring harnesses until i find the one that didnt go back in properly. Idk why its so hard to get them in right the first time, I mean, they are in such an accessible spot with plenty of room to hold the fuse box up high enough with one hand while pushing the harness down with the other and then clamping it shut. Pffft...childs play 🙄😐

He's a professional mechanic. Professional mechanics don't get angry at machines or they don't last long in the industry. I was a mechanic for many years and the guys that got angry, lost tools, broke stuff, etc, switched career!

My friend got a Mazda 6, pretty much just pull out the glove box (no tools needed) and click it open, switch it out and close it back up, figured a Mazda 3 would be just as easy... How wrong i was... Bet this design is taken from a Ford instead of proper Mazda... Thanks for the video tho :)

Hey Jim I just started subscribing to yourHey Jim I just started subscribing to your Channel. I had a question about a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3 l hatchback I don't have a front bumper and the Grill I've been looking for them in the junkyard cannot find them anywhere and all the prices online are too expensive for what I have available right now do you have any suggestions on where I could find something junkyard price that I could use? The regular sedan front bumper does not work for the hatchback. If you respond to my message either way would be greatly appreciate it thank you!

Ii really need some feedback.Ii have a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3 and the hose under where the air filter goes isn't connected. It seems like I'm the only one having this problem because i cant find anything on it. My hose seems smaller than the plastic part that the air filter goes into ( I'm sorry i don't know what its called) so in conclusion, any suggestions?
@jimthecarguy

Can you send me a picture of the problem because the hose should just push on.

I stuck at 7:27. The two screws were very tight and I failed to remove them using 12mm deep well socket and a power drill. Is turning them counter clockwise correct and do you have any tips to loosen them?

Have you ever done the resistor for the AC blower motor?
@bobsoft
@bobsoft 5 лет назад
If you are blowing those you may want to check the motor for how much amps its drawing or you may be doing it again. If the motor is working hard due to bad bearings it will overload the resistor.

Thanks Mazda for such a *cough* brilliant location for a maintenance item that needs changing 1-2/year. Go look at a mid 2000's Honda Civic if you want to see some proper engineering so owners can easily maintain simple aspects of the car. This just reeks of a design to force, I mean encourage, owners to take car to dealer for simple stuff so the stealershi......ahem, dealership can charge outrageous labor and part prices. No thanks. Domestic cars are the absolute worst about their engineering and maintenance/stealerships though.
