Replacing the brushes in a DeWalt DCD series cordless drill can be a bit tricky since you have to remove the motor and transmission to get at one of the brush holders. In this video, Mark shows you the easiest way to replace these brushes.

Nice video. I am a dcd785 without battery . Can you please let me know if the drill watches thecells of the battery? Also do you know if i give higher voltage as 21v (that come from a lipo 5S battery then will the drill work only connected in battery +- 2 poles? thanks

one question what happen when we need replace brushes because mine is not working I want to make sure if is all I neee to replace

Worn brushes can easily cause the mixer to quit working. Please remember, These brushes only make proper contact when they are installed correctly. They need to be installed matching the grove on the brush to the groove in the brush holder. If the brushes seem in good shape and installed correctly the problem could be the switch, speed control or something even more involved like the armature or field.

What about the dcd drills that have brushes inside the motor mount, unaccessable

Hello Thomas, if your brushes are not installed on the outside of the motor. They are inside the motor and cannot be replaced, you will need to replace the motor assembly.
