In todays video I show you how to replace the pivot bushings on the clutch pedal, I also include the bushing part numbers and a little trick to get the clutch master cyl rod bushing to fit better and not fall off anymore. I believe this is the same procedure for a 4 cyl pickup and for the s10 blazer

GREAT VIDEO. Thank you for taking the time to explain carefully and show clearly.

My clutch pedal broke off while driving to work which really surprised me. It did start squeaking every maybe 10th push. I thought the master push rod broke at first when it happened. I think I'm going to bulletproof it and take dash out and put a bolt like there should have been to start with. I really can't complain too much as it did last 26 years / 234k miles. Love my S10 it has been trouble free for a long time. Wish GM would make a true compact pickup again though. The dorman help stuff is hit and miss most of the time in my experience. The circle bushings are discontinued from GM now but luckily can still get them from other companies. Thanks for the video.

Brotherrrr! Mime just did the same thing! 99 with 280k haha. Thankfully I'm in front of the house though. So what did you do to fix it? What did you use? Since the circle bushings are now discontinued. I've had the dash out of the truck 3 times before. Fixing blend doors and heater core twice. Cause I loved doing it so much the 1st time 😂🤪

@@Galli1084 Part numbers I used: GM 15029952 (sold as 10 pack at dealer but need just 2) , GM 93221087 (clutch master bushing) , Dorman 74016 (has 3 different sets of 2 - I used tightest fitting set), I reused the white plastic spacer and the springs. I sprayed white lithium grease on pretty much everything that could move. And it just slides up like in video and hear it snap in place. I did pull dash because I lost a/c (stuck on heat) so I am in middle of replacing blend door actuator as I type this actually. Pulling dash worked out better because the left side pedal pivot that broke was stuck in the hole so I was able to push it out from the non pivot side but I think I could have screwed a screw into it to pull it out like a nail if did not want to pull dash. It looked like too much work to put bolt in to bulletproof (have to take off the steering wheel supports assembly that is bolted to firewall ) so I figured it lasted 26 years with this design so why not another 26. If it happens again with in that time I will do the bolt. I am still doing the a/c fix and I hope it is not the blend door itself since I can not find one new and dont have the time to tear apart one in a pick n pull. Overall could easily fix clutch on side of road if had parts with me and saved myself a tow.

Had my master or my slave cylinder seize while on the road, and of course I tried to force the pedal, and managed to break all the bushings. This is definitely a helpful video, so thank you, sir. especially for those part numbers, they saved a lot of headache.

Thanks for the video, went off it today. Had to make the same repair. I lost one of the Springs, the dealer wanted $30 for just one spring. My local ace hardware had it for $2 bucks . Those two part numbers for the two different upper bushing i think are discontinued as well, luckily my local gm dealer had some laying around and yes they were cheap, around like $1.60 for one and $.70 cents for the other. The lower bushing that connects to slave cylinder bracket arm is like $11 bucks from dealer.

I was in search for a video to help with clutch actuator rod to stay in the master cylinder. Your video cleared things up for me and taught me something new about the pedal bushing aside from that. Very informative and educational. Apparently my master cylinder must be worn out in the back of it where the rod meets the piston. I periodically hear a "pop" noise pressing it. I s'pose I'm gonna' have to replace the cylinder although the cylinder actually works on the other side. Thanks for your your tutorial video. Keep up the good work! Also found out the previous owner installed some sort of high performance clutch which means there's more pedal pressure to overcome which means more stress for the stock pedal pivot bushings which means I'll probably be replacing these again fairly soon

I'm not sure what the symptoms were before the pedal broke but there are several reasons why it will or won't start at times, is it a crank/no start? Or no crank/no start? 2 totally different set of possible problems?

@theman9764
@theman9764 Год назад
On this particular vehicle, the pedal pivot bushings were already broke in half so the pedal just fell out, but if you needed to remove the pedal, i would guess you'd have to attempt to cut each bushing without damaging the little springs
@malcolmx8874
@malcolmx8874 Год назад
@@theman9764 the bushing on the left side is broken. I try wedging a screwdriver where the break is to free the right side but it wont shake free. Even though its broken on one side, its like something inside still holding it. If i break it will it break the case holding the pedal arm?
@theman9764
@theman9764 Год назад
@@malcolmx8874 it shouldn't break the case but try not to apply so much force that it starts binding up against the case, if the bushing is broken or already coming apart then it shouldn't take much more to get it out, sounds like you're fighting against the remaining portion of the bushing and spring that's still encased in the pedal, it's not going to be easy to remove, but if anything does break, most of the parts are readily available
