How can you visibly tell if the shocks are worn, apart from a shaking drum ? are they liquid or spring loaded?

Hi - i have a Hotpoint washing machine and have noticed a very slow drip right next to the shock absorber. I can imagine the leak is not from here, but where would you suggest this is likely to have come from? Would it be part of the detergent draw dripping down behind the drum or perhaps a tear to the drum seal? Hope you can help as I can't see underneath the machine at the moment.

Hi man, I'm an authorised technician with Indesit/ariston/candy and other brands, I just stumbled upon your comment, let me see if I can help! If the drum seal has failed you would see rust/ muddy water under the washing machine and at the back of the drum where the pulley is, if it's on the right side you should check when it dries, if it has detergent in it it will not dry as regular water does, the detergent will be visible, if it's just water perhaps you have a leaking hose or even a clogged up detergent box assembly. They can be taken apart and cleaned with ease =) Hope it helps, if you have any further issues please feel free to reach out or comment back! =)

You don't say where the other shock absorber is - or how to get to it. Is it as easy as the one at the base?

Hi jsof2, it is fitted to the other side of the tub, when you lay it down you will see both of them and they are fitted exactly the same way.

Hi Evolution Bro's, it may be similar but we don't have a video at the moment. access the bottom the same way and see if it uses pins to hold the shock absorber to the tub first.
