Hello! Thanks for watching my video. Today I tackled the valve covers on my 2006 Nissan Titan. My valve covers were leaking TERRIBLY and dropping oil all over my exhaust. Clearly that's an issue. So I swapped them out, that way my truck does not light on fire, what a concept!
If you want to purchase the items I used in the video you can use the links below:

Thanks so much for the videos! I just bought a 2008 Titan with 70,000 miles on it. There is quite a bit of rust underneath and all your videos have been helping me out a lot.

Great video Ry. The previous owner may have not cleaned it and got sand everywhere, but the engine is golden. He did the oil change for sure. I did few valve cover gaskets and if they are leaking badly I always spend an hour decreasing it. My brother's Van was so bad you pour oil to fill it and you can see the oil coming out of the side of the cover, 😂. Good call on the OEM, I followed your instructions for the xterra but bought the covers at the dealer.

Dang, that's a hell of a leak lol. Not sure if mine was that bad. Sand was soaking it all up. Yea, it felt right to go OEM on this kinda stuff. you never know how QC/fitment is on the other stuff.

Great video. Appreciate it. FYI, your torque sequence shows ft-lbs…needs to be in-lbs!

Great Video. Ballpark how long you think this would take average DIYer on the first go?

Thank you. I would set aside at least 4 hours. Only because it's easy to get hung up on little things and you want to take it slow.

What kind of torque wrench did you use? Click or dial? I cand find a Click type that starts under 20 inch lb.
@Rythecarguy
@Rythecarguy 2 года назад
I used a Tekton that goes as low as 20 in-lb. Never needed less than that. It's click style

So you only put RTV on the front corners and not the rear corners?
@Rythecarguy
@Rythecarguy Год назад
Correct. You only need to put it where the gasket changes from going horizontally vertically.

hi i have a question my titan started smoking really bad and its producing alot of smoke might you have any idea on what might be wrong with it ?

What color of smoke and from where?
@Marcoulloa123
@Marcoulloa123 Год назад
@@Rythecarguy mine is white! Oil leaking from under the truck too! Probably should replace the valve covers. Another question: when applying the silicone, did you put it on all 4 corners or just 2 corners?
@Rythecarguy
@Rythecarguy Год назад
@@Marcoulloa123 just the two up front. 🤘🏻

@@Marcoulloa123 Hello, just read about your concern. White billows of smoke indicate coolant leaks. Slightly blue colored smoke is a sign of an oil leak.

73 Ft-Lb?? Nissan manual says max 9T hex head flange m-10 bolts are 54ft-lb or 74NM.
@Rythecarguy
@Rythecarguy Год назад
No. Inch pounds. Did I say it wrong?
@MPPJ1931
@MPPJ1931 Год назад
You say inch lbs but on your paper diagram you put Ft-lbs. and in the comments you mentioned your wrench doesn't go below 20ft-lbs. there's another video where the guys says the same numbers and has foot lbs as well. If you google, there a guide for Nissan techs, that states with the strongest grade m10, you can tighten to 74 newton meters. At 19:08 is where you have the paper.

Just wanted to clarify cuz A my torque wrench didn't work right and B, I was like I'm gonna ruin this gasket.

I’d say that’s about right…the Amazon links he has in 2024lists over $100 per side for the oem covers and the seals are 20 for oem pieces per side…and I know dealership 😊 will probably upcharge even those prices but $260 for parts and 3 hours labor…seems reasonable for 650 after taxes are included…..now if they said $1000 I’d run as fast as I could

I knew it... same as the Ex. No Fault of Ry, but of Nissan//Renault. Same junk different packaging. Nissan is the only maker I do not recommend dealer parts. Better off getting Densi, NGK, Hitachi, Felpro, Timken,,, etc., after market OE suppliers.
