nice videos! appreciate it! got a question ,,, yeah I have a 1990 Harley Ultra Classic and I was wondering is there a kit that you can buy to replace all the bearing seals and everything on the primary side because I was looking and I didn't see a complete kit I seem like all different parts but I want to replace the clutch bearing the main bearing because I'm getting leaks over there in that side and I didn't know if you knew of a whole kit for that or not but thank you very much I appreciate your videos and I think they're great
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 6 месяцев назад
Unfortunately as far as I am aware, there are no refresh or rebuild kits available. Only for the Motor. You will have to buy all the seals and gaskets separately. However I could be wrong.

another question |I know your very busy! I have a 1990 harley ultra classic, want to replace front fork seal, but have to remove entire fairing , is there a way to replace front fork internals while forks are on the bike and drop the bottoms off and do it that way it has the air suspension for front and would use suction to put in the oil? thanks alot!!
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 6 месяцев назад
You will have to remove the forks. The switch panel needs to be removed to get access to the upper tree.

Can you shim behind the bearing? Between bearing and spacer tube? Need to move outside face of bearing out .020 Let me know what you think.
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 4 месяца назад
You can not shim behind the bearing. There needs to be some play for the ease of the install and removal of the axel.

I have a 1998 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic and would like to change the wheel bearings. Do you know what bearing puller and installing kit I need? Most of the kits I've seen are for the years 2000 and up.
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 9 месяцев назад
I believe that the bearings in that year where a tapered bearing. If so ypu will need a completely different kit. If they are sealed bearings than this kit would work out perfect for you.

I’m adding an enforcer wheel to an 04 Road King. I pressed the primary side bearing all the way in. However, the axle sleeve (ordered through Harley dealership), sticks out inside the hub shy of 1/2”. This would prevent me from pressing in and bottoming out the 2nd bearing. If I press the 2nd bearing in, the inner race would be against the sleeve. The bearing would still press in far enough to not stick out past the edge of the hub though. Does this sound correct? Or did they possibly give me the wrong sleeve?
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 18 дней назад
That does not sound correct. What year sleave did you get? And for what bike? When doing things like this, it is a custom application. So sometimes, you might have to make custom parts or modify them. Like the sleave and maybe axel spacers.
@JThack
@JThack 18 дней назад
I thought so, thanks for the quick response. I was told the wheel was from a 14 street Glide with abs. I ordered the sleeve for that wheel, 6205 non abs bearings, as well as a 25mm axle kit. Looks like I’ll take it to the shop so they can see what I’m working with and hopefully get me the correct sleeve for the wheel.

Had my front tire changed at a local shop...now i have an abs light. when installing the bearing the thin groove side (abs side) goes into the wheel first or to the outside or to the outside? any help would be greatly appreciated
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 2 месяца назад
Is it possible the you have the ABS censor installed 180 deg? the metal side goes tords the fork. Or the bearings are not for ABS..

This might be a dumb question, but how would you use the tool if it was a new rim and there wasn't a bearing on the other side of the hub when installing the first.
@DrHarley
@DrHarley Месяц назад
Not a dumb question, If you use a larger disk than the hole in the hub, than you will be able to press the bearings in.

Enjoyed the video Dr. Harley...but I seem to have a problem since I installed my front wheel bearings on my 05 Roadking. It appears that the bearing no longer spin freely! I installed them till they stopped moving but is it possible they're up against the inside spacer not allowing them to spin??
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 2 месяца назад
Yes, you installed them too far. Back them out verry slightly and you should be good.
@dart451kad
@dart451kad 2 месяца назад
@@DrHarley I want to thank you again Dr. Harley...I was able to back off the one side bearing slightly and now the bearings spin freely. I also discovered that intalling the rear wheel bearings, I drove them both in until just before seating and then used the bearing guides to hammer them in a little at a time until I could feel the inside spacer didn't have any play and the bearings spin. You saved me a bunch of money Sir, thanks again...

@@DrHarley, yes...no pay stealership which is about 150 miles away for me! I do have a problem...for some reason, both my front and rear brakes... all of a sudden I have to pump the handle/brake to get them to come up. Does this usually happen when you pull the brakes away from discs when changine wheels? Looks like i'll have to bleed them...

When working on nice stuff, protect the rim. Frustrating to polish your wheels, and suddenly "What tha...I don't remember that being on my wheel!". Old towel, rags, something...

I brought my rim in to a shop and had the bearings changed on my 09 fatbob. Now they dont fit between the forks and the tire doesn't align under the front fender. Any idea of why that would be?
@DrHarley
@DrHarley 3 месяца назад
It is possible that the bearings are not seated all the way in and as far as alignment goes. The bearings are offset in the hub.
