Hare Krishna, here in India most computer shops went out of business due to this planned-demic of some boggieman virus making millions unemployed. So how to replace my noisy Hp fan? JuTube videos like yours explaining what to do really helped. 2020, the purge has started, but at least I've my quiet laptop to research the truth. Thanks 👍

@@titoflash1212 i don't think the thermal paste is required. It comes as is.

There's a wire or two right next to the fan that connect to the monitor. Could those have been damaged when you removed the fan, or put the computer back together? Or their "plug" was loosened (which is also next to the fan)?

I discovered that in my case there was a screw that was covered with a shiny sticker that said "Do Not Remove or will void warranty"

I always thought they were easy to replace if you're careful enough.

Yes you have to insert the drive in before the screws

Try and look carefully to see if you are missing any screws you forgot to take out.

Mine had two more screws under the thin paper sticker on the back. One of those screws is what holds the disk drive in.

@@StephenPhillips Stephen I have left the machine plugged in since yesterday. The light is now white, but the machine still wont power on. When I press the button the laptop begins to turn on and sounds like its going to boot up normally, then it stops and you can hear it wind down. The screen NEVER comes on. If I hold the power button down the white light goes off. If I UNplug the cord the white light goes off. If I remove the battery and plug in the laptop, the white light is on... I have pressed and held the button down for 15 seconds, I have taken the battery out and put it back in... Any idea what I am missing? I think this could be because the machine was without power for about 5 or 6 days. (I ordered my battery online and had to wait for it to arrive). When I first installed the fan and powered it on, it may have been running on the last of the battery. It was running smoothly before it cut off. After the fan-install I powered on the machine. It seemed perfect. I am sorry to be a bother but I work from home and my livelihood depends on this laptop.

Look up your model number on amazon and add "fan" in the search bar.

@@StephenPhillips I found a fan for a Dv7-6c54ea. I sent them an email to ask if it was compatible and they said it was, so I've ordered one. Fingers crossed! Your video was extremely helpful. @@StephenPhillips I can try that. What's odd is that it only makes the rattling on start up. It seems to run perfectly normal otherwise. It'll get a little louder when I open big games and such, but it sounds like a normal fan. It doesn't rattle then.

@@StephenPhillips my laptop is louder than my pc and I went into the settings and turned down the usage of the cpu, but it turns out none of my softwares work effectively without full power. Although my laptop runs bad without full power, the sound was gone and I could not hear it at all. Is there any solution where I don’t lose anything to achieve silence?

@@Vicious13 take out the old fan, dust the inside of your laptop out, then put the new one in.

It doesn't have a name. You just look up the brand and model # of your laptop and it'll pop right up.
