So i could listen to a tune while working. But when the positive lead from the starter gets to the chasis. You get huge sparks! I thougt there was only power on that lead when you turn the key over. I did change my starter on a 1998 honda civic Dx following this video. I had had hard time loosing it two bolts that hold the starter to the engine. I came up using a 12 " pipe as an extension for my ratchet, this way is much easier to loose tight bolts. Thanks very much, I save some money and feel better been independent.

This video was a HUGE help! Kept me from taking it to a shop and having them do it which saved me about $50! So thanks for making this video. Although I ended up taking out my starter slightly different (92 civic) it still gave me the basics I needed.

My sister's car is having starting issues, so of course the starter is now bad due to overuse. This video makes it look like it will not be too cringing a job to replace it. One trick though for not losing bolts (like the lower starter bolt) is I will put a piece of masking tape over the opening of the socket and then put the bolt head in and it tends to "wedge" just enough to hold the bolt until it is installed . About to do my 2000 civic, MA/MB aerodeck body, 1.4 D14Z4. I've done starters before, one being on a regular K24, probably an A4 or A8, they're pretty straight forward. It's nice seeing somebody else do it before hand and get an idea of what I'll be working with this time. Thank you

Hey man I have a 98 civic HX my car stopped turning on after doing a thermostat replacement after that the car wouldn’t start. After searching around I found that the cable that you remove from the solenoid, next to that 12 mm bolt actually broke off into the solenoid which is why it won’t start. I was wondering if that cable is apart of the positive battery terminal or if it’s apart of the harness. and Can I replace the cable or if you know where I can find that connector piece so I can replace that instead

hi your videos have been a great help. i was hoping you could help me out some more. my 99 manuel honda civic wont start. it wont turn over at all when i turn the key. nothing happens. the instrument lights wont even turn on. but headlights and horn works and all other lights work so its not a dead battery. would it be the ignition switch or the starter? having a rough time with it.

Jordan, great video! Thanks. If I can recommend just a couple of additions to your video. These recommendations are for novices, such as myself. Spraying the old starter and bolts with PBlaster and letting it soak in will help loosen the bolts. Pblaster is more of a lubricant, as opposed to WD-40. I use both all the time, but PB really helps loosen and preserve. Also, sometimes it is helpful to number bolts with locations on the starter and surrounding parts. I just used different colored Sharpies to remember what came out of where.

On my 93 civic hatch back dx it is have a hard time to start it take like 5 secs to turn over also the engine warning light come on some times but when u turn it off it goes away when it rains it come on when its hot out side it goes away can that be the start or some thing else plz help me I just change the spark plugs and all that

The bottom bolt on the 90 CRX with auto is a SOB to get in and out with Denso gear reduction starter.. Otherwise easy job.

Aren't there several types of engine you can find in a 94-2000 Civic? Are they all the same as far as removing the starter? Anyway, I'm trying to get my 2000 running again. For some reason it cranked but refused to start. Bat was dead so we jumped it. After trying for a few hours, we finally got it running. I drove it around the block and then stalled it. And it refused to start again. So we towed it back. I finally got a new battery for it, and put it in last night. It cranked a few times but wouldn't start, and it was cold and the battery sounded sluggish, so I took it back inside with me. I tried again today, and now the damn thing won't do anything when I turn the key. No crank at all. It has power to accessories and fuel pump, just it's like the starter decided to stop working since last night. Annoying. It doesn't even "click" like the battery is low. I even tried jumping it, and it still won't turn over.

In the title you stated that this is for 92-00 honda civic but you said in the video it for a 96-00 honda civic. which one is it for?

hello I have a 2009 Honda civic and recently i had problems with the starter I took it to the dealer where I brought it and they replaced it but the day after they tell me that the accessory drive belt snapped... is it their fault? did they replace the starter and didn't connect some cables the right way?.. please answer =(
