I used to always do that, but if I’m trying to get the temp of the meat side of the grill and don’t want to use a thermometer, I keep the vents over the fire, ur gonna get that smoke no matter what cuz it’s covered. Nice vid man
@@drcheyenne thank you! And yeah I have put the vents on both sides and not seen much difference in smoke flavor or heat retention on the grill. And for the purpose of the video I figured I'd put the thermometer over the side with the meat on it. To give people an idea of what the temp was right above the meat. And thanks for watching. :)
