Ik this is the randomest if questions. But juicy did u buy ur shrimp from Amazon. I just bough them a few weeks ago and now only 4 of them r left alive I originally had 20 from the ones I bought and another 40 in my tank which have all died. I think the shrimps I bought brought a disease along with them which wiped out my tank.

I'm currently battling some of these wormy bois in my cherry tank - so this is really helpful thanks! Salt dip + seachem paraguard at half dose for a week. Seems to be working! Also great macro shots - keep it up :)

Also, it's important to keep an eye on the shrimps after a water change to remove their melted exoskeletons cuz of the hatched eggs. If they eat the molts they will get infected again and could possibly die.

So I got shrimp from a really “high end “ fish store here in Guelph (ANGEL FINS.) and it has all this green fungus on it . I KNOW that’s not supposed to be there . I have been doing salt dips, roughly 10 teaspoons of salt to 4 cups of tank water .ive dipped the man twice today. What should I do now ? (Hoping for a reply . Manifesting a reply 😭😭)

Thank you so much for doing a video and for everyone ONE TEASPOON per one cup of TANK WATER warm and ready to go, stir your salt so it’s salt water not salt crystal lol Then watch the scoots fall off 😭😭😭 gross but satisfying to see! My shrimp were literally shaking their arms and breathing out like shooting them around. I only let them stay maybe a minute max? As soon as I see no more white coming off. I only saw one or two adults on the head but apparently they were all over! They will jump a bit but then they relax almost relief like? Thanks again!

Dealing with this in my blue dream shrimp colony right now. The first salt dip hasn't made an apparent dent in the number of parasites on the shrimp, but I did see some of them wiggling about wildly during the dip. How often can this process be repeated?
@SimplyShrimps
@SimplyShrimps 4 года назад
Hey 👋😁 I’d say once a week maximum as to not stress the shrimp out too much. There is also a treatment that is shrimp safe called ‘no more planaria’ that works.

@@SimplyShrimps Hey, thanks for the quick response! I was considering doing salt dips and half-dose with paraguard daily while performing large water changes every few days/removing molts. Do you think this is a decent course of action?
@SimplyShrimps
@SimplyShrimps 4 года назад
Should do. The trick is catching the lifecycle of the parasite as the dips don’t effect the eggs.

Hey Nathan, thanks for this nice tutorial. 👍 Until now, i was not able to find a proper how-to in order to ged rid of these nasty scutariella worms. The salt dip worked very well, all adult worms fell of immediately. But unfortunately after a few days i've discovered parasites on shripms that already have had a salt bath where no parasites were left. Actually i'm a bit worried that i cannot win this as the worms seem to be able to change the host, and also jump onto juvenile Shrimplets in my tank. Besides that it seems to be a very stressful torture to the shrimps as there must be a higher osmotic pressure when the shrimps get salt dipped. So i will not continue with it, in order to not stress my hatchlings more than necessary. Currently i'm thinking about a medical treatment with Rafoxanide. Hopefully that will kill off the whole worm gang and its spawn.
@SamPalooh
@SamPalooh 4 года назад
@STEAM Befreiungsgruppe GG139 staatenlos. info Well, finally i came to the conclution that salt dipping shrimps is only a temporary cure. Once you've discovered Scutariariella, you highly likely have worm spawn in your tank that is literally invisible as you cannot catch/find every single shrimp out of a heavily planted tank with multiple generations of Baby- and juvenile Shrimps. So i think that the only solution to get rid of it, is a medical treatment with Rafoxanide that needs to be repeated a few times to get rid of the worm eggs as well.

That was interesting! Can you use RO to cool the water down rather than waiting for tap to gas out? Also, you can never have too much red (unless it's blood, that's never good news 🤑).
@SimplyShrimps
@SimplyShrimps 6 лет назад
I suppose you can. If you tap water has a high TDS the RO should make it ok. Like doing a 50/50, RO/tap water change :) It’s hard to remove blood stains 👀 not that I’d know 🙈

I've just discovered Scutariella japonica flatworm and was wondering at what age does it affect young shrimps as I've got 1 month old baby shrimp. Should I dip all shrimps, or only the ones with signs of worm. Your method of dipping is the best one I've seen too.
@SimplyShrimps
@SimplyShrimps 6 лет назад
I’d play it safe and dip all shrimp in that tank. I’m not sure at what age the shrimp will be infected but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all ages unfortunately :(

Unfortunately I bought some shrimp a few weeks ago, and I seem to have bought the pests with them. I've been trying to find paraguard, but don't seem to be able to find it available in the UK? Am a little worried about doing a salt bath for them, as the batch I have seem to be very sensitive to any change in water parameters. Any suggestions or just hope the salt bath does not stress them too much?

HELP.. Loved the video by the way. So I was looking at my cherry shrimp just checking her eggs she carries about 2 weeks now. I noticed these little white things sticking out of her where the eggs are. I also saw some long looking worms in the substrate and I freaked out!! Gross! So I went frantically online, too much opinions with no real answers. Then happily saw your video. I went and got aquarium salt. These 2 weeks are also the 1st time ever having shrimp. I love them! I should say in the same tank is molly fry & trumpet snails, which I will be removing tomorrow. I want to do this salt dip and clean out the tank. Anything else I should do? Boil substrate, or rinse in salt water. Dip plants in salt? Any help is very appreciated!! 🙂🦐💓

@@ug0t74ng3d I have no idea what they were. I tried doing research on them but found nothing. I assume they're a type of parasitic nematode? They were burrowing into the shrimps body and made multiple holes in the bodies. I salt dipped them and I haven't seen any signs of the parasite since and I have been removing molts religiously ever since. Don't know if I'm clear of them yet but I'm hoping they're gone for good.
