Neocaridina shrimp can suffer from many different parasites but one of the most common is the scutriella japonica. This is a video about how to use salt for a tank wide scutariella japonica treatment.
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
My filming stuff
Camera - Cannon 200D - amzn.to/354OLlc - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor.

i usually throw the old water out. but if in the event i need it, I doze the old water with meds overnight and then put a bag activated carbon the next day.

In several shots, I saw red worm like or millipede like things swimming around. They seemed to be about the same length as the shrimp. What are those things?

Ah yes - those are live bloodworms after a rather enthusiastic midge got in the tank somehow, and they're certainly not the ideal tankmates for neocaridina, they mostly eat detritus while they are small but as they get bigger will definitely munch on any shrimplets they can catch. I'm not worried though as I plan on breeding CPDs in the tank once the salt treatment is done and the bloodworms will just become free high quality breeding conditioner for them :D

NEVER use regular table salt in an aquarium! It contains iodine and can cause quite a few problems. Always use natural sea salt or aquarium salts so as not to kill everything. Other than that one big no-no, and the mispronunciation of Scutariella every time, it is a very informative video and you have a very soothing voice. Thank you for sharing!

Salt isnt iodised in the uk, if it is it’s clearly labelled, in which case you are not using table salt you are using iodised salt. Which is different. If you are in a different country then well, yes clearly do your due diligence.

I was under the impression you should be using aquarium salt as opposed to table salt. Or is there actually no difference?

Great video, I seen your blue green algae video, also great video. Did your natural remedy resolve the blue algae? Or do you still have some? I’m seeing starts of it and trying to get on top of it now. I don’t want to nuke with strong meds

Heyo. Really well actually. So far I have had no signs of reinfection even though I’m rubbish at removing moults. I’ve done a few large water changes since the video just to make sure the salt was all gone and so far, it looks to have worked 🤞

I use aquarium salt whenever I do water changes for my freshwater fish it's only like a tablespoon or 3 for 135 gallon aquarium when I do a 50% water change will that salt in there hurt the neocaridina shrimp that I bought and being shipped And what should the number be in the salinity meter

I’m just worried as my tank has so many snails plants and other fish I’m like is the salt gonna kill my plants 😭 but I’ve added salt before (removing snails) and the plants seemed to be fine! So hopefully they’ll be okay pray for my bacopa and valisneria

I wonder how effective copepods would be at controlling scutariella numbers? I had some in my tank and noticed they striked at a tiny worm on the glass before
