This video was so helpful. I was completely scammed by a repair man referred by Samsung, and decided to just do it myself, My model was slightly different, but the information here was a lifesaver. 5 minutes, 5 screws and 2 plugs later, I am up and running. Thank you so much.
As usual, you have rescued me again. Your videos are always the best and have saved me hundreds of dollars over the years by allowing me to order the correct parts every time and complete the repairs myself saving untold amounts in. paying for service repairs. Thanks again for offering this most excellent RU-vid channel for home appliance repairs.
This video was GREAT and I love his accent ...:) I completely changed out this component and my fridge is making the right sounds so hoping I have ice again by tomorrow. I'm a 73 year old "girl" and if I can do this ANYBODY can !
Thank you! Ice make Auger has just gone on mine so ordered a new assembly and was worried about the install until I saw this video. Now I'm confident I have the ability to replace it without any issues.
Great and helpful. I am not a great DIY with appliances, but this video was almost perfect. What you did not mention, and I picked up from Amazon reviews when buying the part, was that the two screws that attach the base plate to the original ice maker, are too big for attaching to the replacement part. Somebody made a design error on the aftermarket part design. My solution was cheap and easy. At Lowe’s, I bought a small pack of #4-40x1/2 inch machine screws and nuts. These work fine, but are longer than the original screws, so just screwing two nuts on to the machine screw will increase the size of the screw head and shorten and allow you to tighten thescrew I have had ice for 24 hours, so we’ll see how long the part lasts.
We used this video and site to order a new ice maker and install it on our Samsung refrigerator . It was very helpful. I could not believe but it is impossible to find a repairman for Samsung appliances. So, this video was “ Priceless. “ We just did it, so hopefully we will have ice again soon.
At the start of the video, the base plate that he unscrews from the bottom of the maker and then puts onto the new one is really important to transfer over. It is a "heat shield." If you don't put it onto your new one, then your new one will not work consistently. I have only just learned this after dealing with ice maker issues for a year after installing a replacement assembly. (I had watched a different installation video that didn't include that information so I threw the heat shield out!!!) If you managed to do what I did, the replacement base plate/heat shield cover part for this 12 pin assembly is called DA63-04355A Refrigerator Ice Maker Heater Cover.
Excellent video. Original screws to the old heat shield were too big as others commented. Screws for a bassoon fit 😂. Never know when you need a bassoon repair kit
I just finally installed the ice maker I got from you guys. Other than it really took a good yank and push to get the big mount off the door. It was fairly easy. Thank you for the video, had my iPad by my side in the kitchen. Now it’s plugged in and chilling back down. I’ll edit when it starts dumping ice. Joe Edit: It is making ice. Yay! Took a while for it to settle down, but it’s dumping ice. Now let’s see how long this lasts. I’m not confident but we shall see. I will never buy a Samsung appliance again. TV’s are great, this is not great. Thanks to AppliancPartsPros for being great.
@@appliancepartspros other than it’s really slow. It’s working better than the original part. I expected more ice from overnight. Still very little. Like two row dumps. I heard one dump before I went to bed. It did no more since. I pushed the ice on/off button again. On the front panel. I pressed the reset on the ice maker, yesterday.
Make sure the temperature is between 0 and 5 degrees for the unit to make ice properly. It can take up to 24 hrs after install for the unit to get back down to the proper temperatures to make ice properly. If it has been that long and the temperature is good, make sure the ice maker is filling back up with water after the last cycle. If you continue to have issues, you can grab your model number and call us at 1-877-477-7278 and we can go through some more troubleshooting with you.
Does the ice maker somehow send a signal out to ask for water from the water inlet valve? I'm still not getting any water in ice tray, I've already replaced the water inlet valve. No blockages anywhere.
My ice maker works "but" when the ice storage compartment is empty, no new isle is made until I remove the ice storage compartment from the door then re-install it. Ice is made until the storage compartment is full, when it is empty, I have to repeat the process. Any input on this?
Great video. Do you have a video showing how to replace the auger motor? My ice maker is working, but the auger motor seems to have failed and no ice comes out from holding bucket. Please help!
Thanks Simon, precise details needed for replacing ice maker. I’m now getting error 26 though still getting water dispensed, what should I do next? Thank you for your assistance.
Excellent walk through. Only issue I had was the screws to the old heat shield did not fit the replacement. This is the second we’ve had to install, otherwise the Samsung has been splendid. And we did not buy it through this website, though it looks identical. In reviewing the old one I see I butchered it in there last time, enlarging the thread into the body of the ice maker. I think it may be that the original was a different diameter (0.7 not 0.5) but a 0.5x10mm socket cap screw, with a washer, fit well. I guess 8 mm length might work but the head of the socket cap is a bit small so the washer was doubly helpful.
I have a Samsung RFG297HDRS refrigerator and I need to replace the ice/water dispenser pedal, I ordered the pedal and have watched a few videos but none show the little spring that is necessary for the pedal to function, where does the spring go
Great Help - just needed to know where those tabs where tbf but invaluable assistance nonetheless - many thanks - now lets see if it has fixed the problem
OMG!! I FOUND IT!! I NEED THE PANEL!! one of top tabs is broken abs need to replace this exact model panel! Do you have a link to this part!!?? THANK YOU!!🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
My ice dispenser jams due to a slight over pouring of water. I cannot find a calibration or adjustment procedure for this very same ice maker. Any ideas?
I purchased the Ice Maker (received quickly) , installed it just like the video shows...ice maker now works...BUT...It takes forever to make ice. About 3 days to fill ice container. Did I do something wrong?
We replaced the ice maker with the video. It went well but there is still no water filling the tray so no ice. What do you recommend we do next? We did hold the reset button and there is water coming from the door and the ice make in on with the digital display. Help please 😊
when i press the test button for more than three seconds water is not released to the freezing chamber. is the valve to open the water line part of the ice maker assembly or is it connected to another part of the refrigerator?
Yeah, I figured it out, and it makes very little sense. The icemaker 'comes and goes', sometimes at long intervals, like a month or more. Right now, it's working fine. The strategy I've learned is to take a table knife and make sure the 'lever' is 'up' and free of any ice. I know that's not helpful but it's working for me right now. Weird. Idiosyncratic. But it's working right now. And was cheap! I don't expect this solution to hold up, if past is prologue.
I removed both the ice maker and the hopper and sat them out to allow any ice that was potentially preventing something from moving freely to melt and dry. When I reassembled the unit, the white fingers proceeded to turn as expected. I closed the door and a moment later I heard the water dispense into the ice maker. After that I heard a chime from the control panel. It never pushed the ice out into the hopper and the ice froze solid in the ice maker. Am I to assume something is stripped or broken and it’s time to replace that component?
@@appliancepartspros RS267TDRS, it just stops making ice from time to time for days on end. If the ice is full.... then I drain the ice for a large container, it may or may not restart making ice without having to reset the ice maker.
My Samsung refrigerator panel has only 2 screws and two tabs, after releasing them panel not going out, looks like something else holding it in place. Maybe someone had the same problem before. Appreciate any help.
mine has only 2 also and i can't get the "tabs to release anything I pealed the plastic back and didn't see what it's supposed to release. I thought about smashing it to bits in frustration.
@@appliancepartspros rh25h5611sg. It was dropping water, freezing and then not dropping ice cubes in tray. We replaced both fuses but still did not work so we bought another ice maker (the one with 7 cubes vs original 8 cube) and put in but still won’t drop them?
I tossed one of MANY of these ice makers with the original base plate still on it... Therefore, I haven't had a baseplate for years. I can't find one.. Are they really required and if so, do you sell them?
@@YayHappens awesome! Thanks again... The newest icemaker (3rd installed within 6 months) seems to be working just fine. If I had to guess, I've installed 6-8 ice makers in the last 7-8 years in this fridge. That's not including attempts to thaw it out, disassemble and seal the board components and wiring harnesses. WE won't even talk about how many shelves, drawers and door bins I've had to replace... I THOUGHT Samsung was a quality brand.. I was wrong.. Dishwasher and 2 previous Samsung Microwave's also failed. The stove/oven is hanging in there though! LOL
