the single best way i save money is by only staying midweek. when i go to vegas, i go sunday-thursday. lines are shorter, rooms are cheap/free (although i am a gambler), and usually plane tickets are cheaper. i know taking off work for some people doesn’t work, but for people with flexible schedules like me, it is probably the single biggest way to save.
Agreed, any weekend in Vegas is going to be more expensive than any given tues or wed. I think early to mid week is now the ONLY way to cut costs and still enjoy yourself in Vegas
As someone who goes to vegas every month, I can tell you the “$20 trick” is absolutely real. And works every time for me. But the catch is it’s not the $20 trick anymore it’s the $50 trick or the $100 trick depending on how long your stay is, the upgrade you want, the hotel your at, the availability... you just gotta think about it and do it right not just assume $20 or the same amount of money will work for every place every time. Sometimes we tip $20 and get an amazing upgrade but it’s because it was a weekday and it’s a slow season. Or we go somewhere else and have to tip $100 for the upgrade we want because it’s a busy Saturday. sometimes they will say they won’t have any upgrades available, sure, but that’s usually because you’re trying to upgrade with a $20 on a busy Saturday. Still saves you a shit ton of money but sometimes you have to adjust the tip based on what you want. It’s not hard and it DOES work if you do it right. 🤷🏼♀️
Book through the hotel is a great tip. Also check the prices of the rooms, not signed into your rewards membership. I recently booked with Caesar’s using my rewards for a discount. A few weeks later checked the prices and seen that it was cheaper as a non member. I called the hotel and they did a price adjustment. Just keep checking before you stay (signed in and signed out) to see if the rate decreased 👍
Even better than fast food, the CVS in the Mirage behind Gilley's Open 24/7 and has tons of frozen food/fresh sandwich options. If you're in a hotel with a fridge/microwave that's a godsend.
Couple of comments: 1. Gambling with a rewards card is a fast track to comp or discounted hotel rooms. My first visit to Vegas was in September 2019. I got an MGM M-Life card, and a month after my visit, I got a comp offer for Excalibur (just paid the resort fee). I can stay there 3 nights for just $ 120 ! 2. Most of the strip hotel rooms don't include a refrigerator, microwave or coffee maker. I bought my own 1-cup coffee maker. I put the coffee maker and coffee packets in my suitcase and then set it up in my room. Much more convenient and cheaper than going downstairs to Starbucks, waiting in line and paying $ 6 for coffee.
@3:12 As a Californian that lived in Texas for a few years, I can honestly say that Whataburger beats In-N-Out in every way except the shakes. Whataburger needs to open in Las Vegas.
Last November I was walking through 4 Queens after a light snack and a super friendly lady came up to me, handed me her card and said if I need a ride to the strip, it would only be $25.00. So, I told her to meet me and my brother at the valet area at Fremont. She picked us up and we had fun talking all the way to the M&M store. Before we got out of car, I gave her $35.00 and she told me No its only $25.00. I gave her the extra $10.00 for saving us time, her friendly spirit and honesty. I got ripped off by a cab driver one time who was milking his fare by going the longest route possible! You are right, Uber and Lyft are good but sometimes by chance you do come across some amazing people.
Wow Chris that sounds amazing - both parties ended up benefiting. Apparently- if cab drivers deviate from their route, it's illegal and you can opt not to pay the fare
@@Vegas-Must-Try Oh, the lady's name is Maria. I will never forget her and we are headed back to Vegas 9/1-9/6. Hope to meet up with her! Thank you for your awesome videos Jorge and especially the money saving tips! Take care!
Pre set cab rates to your hotel is a great deal, cabs are waiting..........Uber requires waiting in a garage that can be over 100 degrees 4 months a year. Monorail still involves a lot of walking, when we stay at MGM grand I use it to Westgate as it has stops at both hotels
Thanks for sharing, very helpful. I am impressed that people just walk around with coolers haha. Rewards cards are no joke. I'm the lowest for Boyd Gaming and I get comped rooms. I never even used the card once yet haha. Also get discounts at their restaurants too.
@@Vegas-Must-Try Nice, I’ve never checked that one out yet. I’m from Hawaii and I’m cheap so by default, I’m always at the california haha. Plus my mom has been staying there since it opened so that is where she feels most comfortable.
I love all the Vegas tubers but y’all need to still bringing up MyVEGAS.I’ve been playing it for 12 years and straight up the rewards were so much easier back before it was was well known. You used to be able to pick the song that played on the bellagio fountain for 1 million gold coins.
I can have In N Out anytime since I am from CA but Jaburrito, the place behind you, thats where I like to go. Haven't seen a place like that in los angeles
Thanks Jorge I have used all of your money saving tips / the idea of filling up a cold container when you walk the strip is a good one / just dont put too much liquor in it or you will get hammered / I found this out / also on the Miracle Mile shops there are a few places that give you 3 for 10 cocktails / a good price in Vegas / thanks again / we have seen you walking the strip
If you get the MGM credit card, which has no annual fee and no purchase necessary, you are automatically at the Pearl level (2nd MGM rewards level) which gets you free parking at every MGM resort.
When I first visited back in 2008 Vegas felt a really cheap place to visit, now some of the costs/prices it feels like the city is only targeting very high income visitors (and I say that as someone who has a good income and can afford more than most).
1) The taxis can be only a dollar more then a lift or uber 2) Not fast food it can be expensive, hit happy hours for better quality foods 3) Booze ABC and fill a water bottle up with the booze or just hit places like Casino Royal or Stage door for cheap beer. When gambling If a hostess does not come around it cheaper to buy a can of beer at the gift shop 4) Don't spend Money to go to Target it will cost u same as spending on strip once you calculate cost of ride and food. 5) Get a players card
Hi, saw you filming by MGM Park near TMobile arena. You were cool enough to chat and take time for a pic. Liked the bullet point details in your content. Gets us to think about what to look for in a smarter vacation. Thanks
I live in Vegas, and if you want to save money, then stay off the strip as much as possible, because the strip is going to gouge visitors. Also stay in a hotel off the strip, and eat off the strip. Sam's Town is a very nice hotel off the strip. Go to the buffets, and diners off the strip too. Look into an Air B & B, and see about specials on rental cars. I had a friend that even though she lived in Vegas, got a terrific deal on a rental car, and once she got a rental car for free! She didn't want to drive her car to some of Vegas's upscale parts, so she rented an upscale car. Also, if you know anyone who lives in Las Vegas, see if they'll purchase tickets for you to shows, or whatever, because Las Vegas residents get great discounts on shows, and such. Vegas is a stupidly expensive place, so even the residents have to know how to save, and watch their money.
One place like Ocean One that we don't see a lot about is Flights in Planet Hollywood. You should do a review on it. They do the same drink deal as Ocean, and they do flights of food.
$20 dollar trick works more than it doesnt.. it wont always get you a free room upgrade.. but will at least give you an upgraded view and sometimes resort fees are waived.. but i would still expect nothing.
The monorail is in the back of buildings and still requires a lot of walking to get to. There is a free tram connecting some properties on the other side of the street.
I went to California last november EXTREMLY excited for In-N-Out. Could not have been more disappointed. The only good perk is it's cheaper and better than Mcdonald's I guess. But I'd never trade a single one of our Culver's for one lol. Del Taco however was most impressive! Wish we had those out here.
Have you ever eaten at the golden steer?¿?? It's the oldest steak house in Vegas and the lobster and table deserts are great....hope you read this and take us there..
$20 trick has worked for me EVERY single time. I always get upgraded, buffet tickets, strip views.... just about anything in the capacity of the person checking me in. Its one of the best "tricks" I recommend to anyone going to Vegas.
@@jpark28 Don't "Ask". Credit card and ID with a $20 folded in between. Present at check-in. They will put your card to one side ID to the other and $20 on the counter "if allowed". Some will pocket it ASAP if they are not allowed to take tips but that has NEVER stopped me from getting an upgrade of some sort. Nothing to be said. They ALL know. They then frantically search for anything that they can give you. Like I said I've had buffet tickets, room upgrades, show tickets, food credit late check out. Just last week I got $50 credit to any restaurant in Aria because they didn't have any better rooms than what I booked at the time. There's nothing to be said. If they can't do anything they very nicely hand your $20 back to you. I think its all about how you present yourself and most importantly don't "ASK" that just shows you are newb and most probably kicks you out of the $20 insider category. Its just an unspoken truth on the strip. Edit: This is also why I NEVER use the mobile check-in. Sure its easy but you forego the opportunity for any perk that tiny $20 will bring you. Well worth the wait in line.
So now I know why you get so hyped between sips of "water". When you wear black you are 🔥🔥🔥. Which property is known for having the loosest slots. Any casino comping your buffet for rewards play?
Great info! I will be there June 20-23. I always rent a car, but it looks like I could save by public trans., monorail, or Uber. Even to and from the airport. I will be on the strip almost exclusively.
best way to save on taxi's is take the shuttle hotel van from the airport to a hotel on the strip, and stay at a hotel near the airport, then you can have the shuttle at the hotel take you back to the airport and then just walk from there to the hotel near the airport, this is what i did in chicago since the hilton is connected to the airport in chicago, it even has a hallway connecting the airport to the hilton.
@@Vegas-Must-Try yeah it worked for me because the convention i went to was at a hotel and i stayed at the hilton near the airport, so i just kept taking the hotel shuttle van back and forth for free for 3 days to the convention,i wish i could go to vegas but its too expensive to fly there, i wanna see the beatles love show at the mirage
@@smooshiebear80 well i did this in chicago, but i would think the vegas airport would have hotel shuttles there to take people to the hotel from the airport, and im sure after they drop them off, people get on that want a ride to the airport.but i've never been to vegas so i couldn't answer this.
@@archangelmusic13 I had assumed that, as well, but I read in a couple of places that it’s not the case in Las Vegas. Supposedly there is a law that prevents hotel shuttles going to hotels on the strip.
Best way to save money as someone who just got back from Vegas yesterday and has been multiple times before. JUST DO NOT GO. The city has become way way way over rated. There are many other options in the US to get the same if not a better experience for half the money. My wife and I will not be going back. Sorry vegas is not what it once was!
