I appreciate you repeating the pronunciation multiple times instead of just describing it! The written pronunciation/phonetics is also super helpful thank you so much!
My wife and I would like to thank you very much for the sublime lessons you give! So clear and structured! And what we also appreciate is that it doesn't go too fast. This makes learning Portuguese a joy. Thank you!!!
06:24 Guys, pay attention here, please, it's number 30, I accidentally forgot to delete the number from the previous slide. I always hated numbers, this just had to be! 😂
Also, what happened to 16 and 17? Seems the Portuguese spelling was greyed out, is this some RU-vid bot hiding something potentially rude? :D Awesome video!
Obrigada! Just started watching your videos,I’m amazed how easy you make it sound,I’m just starting to learn Portuguese ,you’re a great teacher.I’m looking to retire to your beautiful country next year...keep up the great work Maria ..adeus god bless.roccamick
Muito Obrigada cara Maria ! Finally I find a minha Professora perfeito!!! For two years I’m learning by myself European Portuguese, I know basic and a lot of words, but struggle with to put things together…..my languages are Ukrainian/ Russian and English , with you I’ll speed up Portuguese! 🎉
Thank you so much for these lessons. I appreciate very much how you describe the technicalities of the pronunciation of each letter in the words and the repetition with differing tones . I would like a confirmation about dois however. At the beginning, you mention that dois and duas take on gender. Does this extend to numbers like noventa e dois (ex. noventa e duas)? Quarenta e duas casas? Vinte e duas casas?
Obrigada! I've watched many of your videos and the way you explain everything is super easy and helpful . Will continue watching 🇵🇹 I would like to know... Do you currently give personal or online portuguese classes?
You are so welcome, Ana! 🌞 Thank you for your kind words. Sure, I do. I prefer individual to group classes. If you are interested, feel free to drop me an email: portuguescommaria@gmail.com, I'll be happy to get to know you. 🌻🌞
@@portuguesewithmaria Oh, amazing news ! 😍 Thank you very much for the information Maria, I'll send you an email right away and i'll be happy to contact you and get to know you too ✨
Hi, thanks for the comment. Sure! And there's already a whole list of the pronunciation and phonetic videos with 26 videos currently, you can find them here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Ep6P2lPmwE.html
Thanks for adding the international phonetic alphabet. I am visiting Portugal at the moment and trying to pick up some Portuguese, so for a linguist this is useful. Thanks
Você conhece os erros de pronúncia que os falantes de inglês cometem e oferece a correção e é meticuloso com os detalhes. Essas correções de pronúncia são realmente úteis para mim.
Maria, thank you for the lesson, nice pacing and clear pronunciation on everything! One question I have is on the Portuguese dipthong "ei" as in "seis". I have heard it pronounced two very different ways, even in sources that are strictly European Portuguese. Sometimes it is similar to the "i" in English "price" or the "y" in English "my", and that is about what I am hearing in your video. But often it is more like the sound in the English word "play" or "place". Is this regional? Based on a Wikipedia article on Portuguese phonology, I'm thinking maybe the pronunciation you are using is mostly Greater Lisbon or at least central Portugual?
Hi, Carl, you can hear both in different parts of Portugal. I studied Portuguese with professors from Lisbon, and they close these sounds more so it sounds [ɐj]. I understand that analogy with "my" in English but is different though because it is an open [a] in English, and here we have a semi-closed short sound [ɐj]. I made a whole video on that diphthong here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ee_XnItHuyM.html
Saudações do Brasil, eu falo inglês desde sempre, vejo seus vídeos mais porque aprecio o português de Portugal, já morei em Portugal, França, Espanha e Inglaterra, estive na Itália mas por pouco tempo, sou descendente de italianos, sei um pouco de cada idioma destes países em que estive!
I rarely ever have a need for the larger numbers but it’s good to have a familiarity with them. Quinhentos is difficult to remember because it doesn’t fit the pattern.
Yes, it's a strange one, try to remember 15 (quinze) which is also related to the number 5 and then 500 (quinhentos), at least the beginning is similar. :D
Thank you for helping me practise numbers. Just out of interest, why is the spelling of 16 and 17 blurred out? Is that some nonsense RU-vid filter thinking there's a swear word or trademarked phrase?
Hi, and thanks for the comment, I am happy you found it useful. There was a typo that I didn't notice before posting the video so I blurred it not to confuse people. This is hot to write them: 16- dezasseis, 17- dezassete.
