Definitely want to see you go back and do a renovation! Would be awesome to see a before and after. Plus you could educate along the way, after all most gardens in the uk look like this and a lot of people would take something away from seeing a mini series of you fixing this lawn! Keep up the great work!

Love to see a full renovation of this type of lawn, as most people would just rip up and lay new turf! I find it satisfying and rewarding when its restored and looks amazing

Looking forward to the follow up. We reseeded ours earlier this year after levelling, but we have a lot of plantain, dandelion and others in the grass, so keen to see how you address this lawn. Excellent content again. Thanks for posting.

After the scarifying the lawn, instead of using the blower, have you tried runnng a petrol mower over it? I find a powerful mower can act like a vacuum for the lawn. You have to choose the right height setting (not too low). Also when using a blower, i would wear a mask. The amount of dust and bits you end up breathing in over time is not good. Enjoyed the video.

Matt, a totally unconnected question, I did some hollow tine aeration with the Swardman tool after its arrival in June, do you have a suggestion of when and when not do some more aeration in the Autumn ?

Great video Matt. It would be good to see all the stages to this lawn looking as good as yours. That would give confidence to anyone thinking about doing it. I did a full renovation in May and still have some areas where seed hasn't taken. Should I scarify again in September and reseed those areas? Thanks for your education.

Nice video Matt and impressive power from that blower 👍. I notice at around the 4 min mark it looks like creeping bentgrass. I have some in my lawn and it's a nightmare. Maybe persuade your customer to go for the full glyphosate and reseed ! Looking forward to the follow up video.

hello. dont know if ur still replying to questions but , how do you price the scarify job? I have a small round of customers but cost of living etc, i find it hard to get customers to pay more for extras.. many thanks for the videos

Loving the videos. I recently bought the Hyundai scarifier/aerator for autumn lawn care, does a fantastic job...I'm left with lovely green grass but there are patches of clover left. What's the best way of removing clover weeds??

Matt i scarified and aerated my lawn back in April. I applied 4 in 1 about 6 weeks ago. Lawn looks great. Should I scarify again now pre winter or leave it for a while or is it even necessary at all? Thanks

You can do it if you need to remove some thatch build up in the Lawn, take a look if there is material to be removed then you can remove it 👍

How low do you recommend cutting the grass before scarifying? Some videos say as low as the mower will go. My mower goes down to 20mm

Another great video. Been following your channel for a while now. Just started a mini renovation on my lawn as compaction in places was pretty much stopping all growth. Scalped it and "scarified" using an electric Flymo lawn rake as it's all I have. Only issue I'm having is trying to aerate it. Sprinkler on for over an hour and it's still solid even after a few hours to soak through. Dug a square out to have a look and be lucky if it's soaked down an inch. Any tips? Or just let soak longer?

Buy a wetting agent, they can be an expensive chemical but will penetrate the soil and get the seed going.

Ideally you should scarify before seeding to remove thatch as preparation. If you've recently seeded you may not need to scarify until the next season if there is debris to be removed

Great video, thanks for sharing. A couple of questions if I may: what's the recommended time of the hear to do this? Given we're almost into August, have I missed the window for this season or can I do it in September? I have recently bought a scarifier but I don't have a blower, can I use my mower to hoover up the thatch after scarifying instead?

Hi thanks for watching for deep work spring and autumn is great so September onwards is normally fine. Yes anything to collect the clippings but your box will full up very quick!!

I just scarified my lawn. I cut it down low before scarifying but it still took out almost 2 full wheelie bins of thatch etc.

I have three chargers and batteries with these new tools and they are all the same fitting. Two 54v and one 18v, they fit into the same charger that takes both 54v and 18v flexvolt batteries.

i went back for several more passes the day after, needed to check with customer about how much waste disposal they could do as they were out at the time.

Scarify spring or Autumn, never in the winter, only franchise companies like Greenthumb scarify in the winter. Summer is also not a great time unless you have good moisture levels and are prepared to set up a good watering regime to help the lawn recover

I just had my lawns renovated by one of the franchise companies. Complete waste of money, they made a right mess, it took them 3 visits to try and put things right. The top dressing they used was a very cheap compost full of lumps of wood that damaged my Allett mower blades.

That blower looks to live up to the claim of petrol performance, it looks a monster. The lateral growth the scarifier has pulled up would be tidied up with a pass of the trusty bosch 👍

Yes was very powerful I was so surprised how much power came from a battery. I did indeed run a rotary over those sneaky laterals to tidy up. Hoping to get back here Graham and do the full works on it 👍

Can depend on your grass type some produces more than others. Some people advocate little and often, say 6 weeks and other annually more heavier if needed

I've been in my house about 6 weeks and it's been such a struggle with my lawn at the back. We have sacrificed it about 6 or more times and there is still moss and thatch in it. Now there are bald spots where all the crap has gone. The front lawn was that bad we have removed it and are going to lay new turf. We have bought some seed to over seed the back after some more scarifying and I've watched your videos to learn about it. They are Brill. Will we need to cover the seed with top soul or will it be ok without it.

Thanks Bev, generally yes it will perform better if covered but you can cover with compost, peat moss or something like to feed the soil and likely be more weed free than topsoil. Topsoil is ok too just make sure it's weed free

Yeah its basically useless for any job that isn't a light touch up. My unit is a domestic one but don't even think the commercial ones have collectors atall

It's dry to be fair, but there are alot of weed grasses too and as we are doing a renovation in autumn I'm letting it feel the pressure abit and customer knows it will look worse before looking better
