Wow. I can’t believe I missed this update. I’ve always been so annoyed pages didnt have this feature. Word has had it since the get go. So glad Apple is giving in and “copying” useful features like this and window snapping. Sometimes windows has good ideas and tools and for Apple to ignore them is just lame. I hair wish they’d update finder with some better view options and some folder trees on the left for easier organizing of files. One can dream.
I'm pretty sure that this feature was available in older versions of Pages. Then it went away and now its back. As for Text Edit, I have version 1.17 on one of my Macbooks and non contiguous selection works just fine. But on another computer which has more recent versions it doesn't work. I have been avoiding updating this computer because I didn't want to lose the feature. Now that it is back on Pages maybe I will.
Probably the same thing that holds back any software team from implementing anything: takes time to adapt code libraries, deal with incompatibilities, test, etc.
Is that really new? I would have expected that to work since version 1. It’s so basic! But then again I can’t remember when I last used it in windows (company needs that), but I sure have.
When I switched to Apple, I was shocked to see Pages doesn’t have this simple and basic feature. But I keep using Pages and whatever Page is lacking, I do them ‘manually’ albeit taking longer time than it should be. Only today I realized now Pages have it and it’s NEW to them Apple. What the …..
It’s always nice to see some additions but i can’t see me using this too often in my particular type of documents. I do wish that they would allow paragraphs styles to remember if they are a numbered list and apply this directly instead of having to add the numbered list feature and it’s type every time. But thanks for the video 😁
