Your video saved me from sending back my Echo Dot to Amazon. I was having trouble setting up my echo dot and called the number given on the error msg I kept getting during device setup. The Service rep was useless and kept insisting I let him take over my PC to set up my echo and when I refused he took me thru a bunch of useless steps and blamed the problem on my network settings and hung up on me. I was able to fix the problem using your video. Thank you so much!

when i go thru the steps to set up the network it tells me internet may not be available. It does show the amazon-XXX to connect but i get the "may not be available" then when I try to connect to it no good. frustrating as .....

Main thing is to have your wifi password ready and also make sure the Dot stays in set up mode. Would have been lost without this video

Call amazon support. They will ask for the DSN number on the back of Alexa and register it from their end. Worked for me after almost a year of not connecting to the internet.

Am considering an Echo Dot...I've watched the set-up video and it may sound dumb but...must the device be connected to a speaker or...does the amplification come directly from the device?

I presume since you already had another dot, you didn't have to do a full set up.... do you need to know your home Wifi pass code, etc? or does my phone (which is already set up with home wifi) already allow echo Dot to join in? Also, I do not have IOS devices, so will my I-phone 7plus, or my Windows10 PC, still do a full set up? Can Alexa access my iphone calendar and tell me my appointments? any trick to it? Finally, I have a Google Smartspeaker ("hey google"). Appointments, Calendar, Setting Reminders, & accessing telephone contacts can only be accessed by ONE VOICE. So voice recognition is a problem! I'm ok with the whole house having access. Is the Echo Dot the same way?? thanks so much

Headache these dots, I recent tried to set up a relatives, (I have set up my own before) the problem u have is we sorted app but then didn't gave Internet connection, so sorted connection then lost connection on the app!?? Seems like a vicious circle, seems maybe I need to unplug modem and the dot and start again making sure for connected to Internet first then run through the app?

Took me hours to figure out that one of my Access Points (NOT a router) were the reason my echo could not connect. Even though I was NOT trying to get the Echo to connect to them. If you have any access points unplug them, reset your router and try again. (leave the access points OFF)

do u have to have 2.4ghz WIFI or can u use 5ghz

FOR ANYONE WITH TROUBLES GETTING ECHO DOT FROM OFFLINE TO ONLINE - hard reset your phone, wifi modem, Echo Dot and Amazon Alexa app; begin the Echo Dot set-up process again, but this time try turning off your phone’s mobile data and switching to airplane mode with wifi on; connect your device to the same wifi network as your phone’s wifi, then it should work :) took me 3 long nights to get it to work 😂

For future reference any set up video should be "raw" no previous setups because I am going to get my first echo so all the shenanigans you go through with your issues may or may not occur for a first time user.

I need some help with Echo Dot 3rd Gen. I have try several headphones and ear buds. I can't find one that the 3.5 mm plug stay in place you have to hold it IN or jiglle to hear the sound . Am I doing soming wrong ? Do I have the wrong kind headphone? ThankU

I realize this is a few years old. I lost power during a storm and I'm trying to reconnect to my echo. I had to set mine up manually also. However, when I went to my wifi,. Amazon wasn't there. I waited and it never showed up.

Can different Amazon accounts be connected to the echo dots? For example my husband and I have one account but our college kids live with us and have there own. Will they be able to connect to the echo dot with their account?

I don't see the Wireless section to change. What do I do in that case?

One quick question. In Sony X85J, I enabled Alexa using Echo dot. Getting all commands executed (on, off, volume, pause, play etc) EXCEPT change of channels. It takes the command but DO NOT execute it. Any reason? ? ? Is it not enabled in INDIA??~ Have seen few utube video of outside world, there it works.

I have a echo dot 3 g and it works great.then i got the bright idea of getting a second one so i could have stereo in one room..bad mistake. There is no way i can get them to sync...i have tried it all...duh. well i can always put one at one end of the house and one at the other end.......Thats it.
