Strategy is pretty complicated and strange to most people. But the impact of well set strategies is obvious and significant. This video is a basic overview of how to set your settings efficiently.
Stamina chain for starter (20-80 scale)
20 stamina - 40 pitches
25 - 50 pitches
30 - 60 pitches
35 - 65 pitches
40 - 70 pitches
45 - 75 pitches
50 - 80 pitches
55 - 85 pitches
60 - 90 pitches
65 - 95 pitches
70 - 100 pitches
75 - 105 pitches
80 - 110 pitches

If you ever show adjusting individual player strategies in future videos, it would be really really awesome if you used the pitching ratings/batting ratings view while you did it rather than clicking back and forth to the player profile. Just because it would make it much easier to follow along. We aren't familiar with your player stats so having to remember those details while you use them to justify how you moved the sliders is hard when those views would show you all the same details (and prevent all the back and forth with the screen).

I would love a video on openers and followers. I personally don't use them as I am clueless on what I should be looking for or aiming for with them.

Don’t worry they are worthless. Just get good starters.

Very helpful video. 4 of my 5 starting pitchers only have 3 pitches, but they all good pitchers. Problem?

Thanks for making these videos! I have a question about pitch around settings. Increasing the pitch around for a pitcher with high control and low movement makes sense. I'm curious what you've found for pitchers with low stuff, but high ratings in both control and movement. Even with good defenses, I've had these types of pitchers get shelled most of the time. I've tried pulling the pitch around slider down and pitching to contact, but this doesn't seem to help. I'm about to try the opposite, but am curious if you've explored this. I'm doing this on in perfect team btw, in case that changes things.

hi @Sgt. Mushrrom, i have a question about pitcher individual strategy. 1:50 I know HIGH CONTROL -> MORE pitch around. HIGH MOVEMENT -> LESS pitch around but what if i had a pitcher with 70 movement and 70 control? what to do in situations like this?

So for lower ratings when they're equal, turn the pitch around down slightly. The higher it is, the more you should pitch around. This is because you need to keep walks below a certain number, but once you do, limiting home runs is more valuable.

Nice. Would also like to see you do a more detailed Pitch Around slider tutorial only while showing some players with various ratings, High Stu-Low Mov-Low Con, Ave Stu-AveMov-AveCon, High Stu-HighMov-HighCon, etc. And if there are any specific rating thresholds that factor into your decisions. And then, how do you utilize the players specific strategy settings. Ex, if you have your general PA maxed out and then take an SP and use the override option, and then max out his PA slider, is the result magnified or does its simply have the same effect as if you just use the general/team slider? And then can you talk more of the relationship between the hook slider and using pitch counts. Another question, for season play do you use the fatigue % rest function and if so, what do you set them at so players are not playing tired?

I don't care about stuff when looking at pitch around, just movement and control. If the pitcher has more movement, then I want the net pitch around to be lower. If they have more control, then I want net pitch around to be higher. Also notice that I used the word "net", it is magnified from your general settings. There is no relationship between the hook slider and pitch counts. The hook slider determines when to pull a pitcher based on his stamina left, performance so far, and current level of success. It really has more to do with getting a pitcher out if his performance isn't good. Pitch count pulls a pitcher as soon as he hits a certain pitch count, simple as that. I rest position player starters at 97% (except catcher, first base, and DH who I rest at 96%). You really want your guys performing at 100% and you'll see drop offs really quickly. Continuing that concept into pitchers, you don't need to worry about %ing your starting pitchers, but I'd suggest setting your whole bullpen at 80% rest. It's better to have a garbage pitcher at full rest than a great pitcher at very low rest.

@@sgtmushroom Thanks. Certainly wouldnt have used such high numbers and Ill try. When it comes to the stealing sliders, I know they vary depending on the speed/steal ratio. But what steal success % do you consider to be bare min acceptable? Anything above 70% 75% 85%? where if you are below that youll crank sliders down.

Thank you thank you thank you for this!! Ughh u dont know how many videos I watched looking for this info (even some of yours). So thanks again I have a question, in PT why do situations like this happen: 5 teams w/ lvl99 justin verlander cards in my league-their verlanders lead league in era, mine has a 5.95 And also: is there hidden code within players/cards that just decide on the success they will have regardless of their attributes, allowing their actual stats to be used when evaluating? Or will their attributes always be used in some manner when deciding their performance? (In otherwords or additionally-are their certain cards just known to perform regardless) Trying to understand the logic of when to rely on stats or if they should be taken into account at all. Would your video about how the games engine works be helpful in answering any of this? Its on my watch later list

My guess is some luck on both sides. I think that could be helpful, I would certainly recommend watching either way. It's possible sliders are doing something Make sure you've got that pitch around cranked and that you're taking advantage of shifts.

@@sgtmushroom yea even though i despise infield shifts irl i got them high. But i have pitch around cranked low so ill fix that
