Thanks for this I have better understand how to use my Kona now. But first time trying to charge I think it was set up by previous owner to not charge during the night and my car didn’t charge so got charged for idling 7 hours.
Do I need separate adapters for using public / petrol station chargers? Have gone to two separate stations with my new tuscon phev, and neither plugs match the phev socket.
Okay, your Tucson plug in hybrid, is compatible with most AC chargers , I pre-apologise if this is patronising, but are you familiar with the difference between DC charging and AC charging?
Hi Brian, another question sorry. Only had my Tucson PHEV a couple of weeks. The other day I decided to try and charge it up at Tesco while my wife did the shopping. When she returned to the car, it was still charging, I tried to remove the plug from the car, it was stuck, same with the charging pod. I dont know if my car was set to stay locked while charging or not, but if my doors were unlocked, should it have released anyway? Or is there a way to cancel charging from the car? Thanks.
But why does the car need to know when you plan on leaving before it will accept a scheduled charge time? I always want to only charge during the night. I might not have a planned time to leave. I might not be going anywhere. I just want the car to only charge during the night, every time I plug it in. It seems a completely unnecessary link between two otherwise unrelated settings.
I think it relates to having the target temperature set in the car, so it knows what time you want the cabin temperature to be at the desired level, it may also have an impact on charge logic through the charging cycle, but these are guesses unfortunately
The scheduled charging on Hyundai is not as good as Chevy. On my 2017 Chevy Volt, I can have a different schedule for weekends and weekdays to be inline with my electric company's off-peak schedule. Hyundai please take note and improve your scheduled charging software.
