Thank you for explaining the proprietary cable. I’ve watched several videos and your the only one the clarified that the portion that goes to the laptop can just use the usb portion by itself.
Thank you! That is a really, really, really well done video, explaining how to un box and connect the docking station with the computer and monitors. I am sharing the link with a friend who is struggling with this equipment on her first and second day at work.
Not only was this informative, but there's no bloat to get the video to the 8m-10m mark. You could've easily added audio interludes or demonstrated your dual-monitor + dock setup long enough to get there, but you didn't. Glad I found you! Thank you for the vid. Subscribed.
Hi. Thanks for the video. I do not have all the cable that has the usb-c & round pin joined together. I only have the display cable and usb-c to usb-c cable. technically, I should be able to use that setup, but I am not able to . Is that round pin connector essential to use this docking station?
I liked the video, very informative without a doubt, but I am having trouble with the third monitor, and I was hoping to get more information on what could be wrong that my third monitor is not showing up. Any idea?
I have a P15S 1st generation. It's Thunderbolt 3. It does not have the Slim connector for power. Will the Thunderbolt 4 dock work with my laptop using just the Thunderbolt 4 part of that double cable to the dock?
Is this dock compatible with P53? I have read about issues regarding the previous model Thunderbolt3, where screens go black and its either hard reset or several minutes of screen flickering. Does the 4th version suffers from any of that?
I have a Lenovo T490 laptop connected to a Thunderbolt 4 docking station. I have (3) external 27" Samsung monitors (model # C27F396FHN) using 1080p resolution and using the laptop monitor screen. This brings the total number of screens to four. The problem I am having is that the resolution to one of the 27" monitor only has a 768p resolution, everything else is working as it should. What do I need to do to correct the resolution on the 27" monitor as I opened the settings and the maximum resolution setting is maxed out at 768p. I thought the THUNDERBOLT 4 docking station had enough bandwidth to drive all (3) monitors plus the laptop monitor. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for the Video! Can we connect a non-Lenovo Laptop to it with 130w or more of power supply? Will the Thunderbolt 4 support for 130 watt or more power supply like for example to a Dell XPS 17 laptop or any other non-Lenovo Laptop?
I have a thinkpad workstation USB-C dock that i use for my office thinkpad. I bought a cheap lenovo ideapad laptop for personal use and tried to use it with the same dock. Everything works except the ideapad doesnt recognize neither of my dual monitors thats connected to the dock via displayport. Could it be because my ideapad has a low end integrated GPU?
To use this docking station with the laptop you mentioned, it would have to use one of the USB-C ports to power and connect the docking station to the laptop. According to the specs the laptop does support power delivery via the 2 USB-C ports on the right side of the laptop.
Hmm that's weird. The power cord on my ThinkPad does not have a USB-C right to it. It's an HDMI port instead. The USB-C ports are a good 6'' to the left.
2 DP port Screen, the 2nd screen flashing... no solution. updated Firrware to 1.0.13, driver of videocard updated... but not getting better. do you have the same problme?
