A particularly friendly male Green Anole was outside earlier as I moved some of my carrots growing in planters before the rain. He sat watching me as I put some of the planter boxes inches from his perch. So I opened some sardines to help him out and attract flies and poured out a few drops of oil a few inches from him. When I backed away he walked over, inspected it, then rubbed his head in it. I think he knew it would attract flies and did that to get them to land right on his nose! LOL! He`s a smart one! It`s warm today in Louisiana and I always enjoy seeing the lizards and watching them hunt and fight. They help out in my in-ground garden each year by catching a lot of the pests. There are also toads and tree frogs in my vegetable patch too and I see dozens of baby Anoles each year when they hatch. I leave some cardboard boxes out there for them to hide in.
This was a perfect tutorial! It was short, but provided many details. I haven't kept anoles im about 10 years, but am thinking About getting a few. So this video was a great refresher, and will help assist me in setting up the perfect enclosure, thank you!! 🦎
Those look like dwarf white isopods. They spread like crazy because they are parthenogenetic, meaning they don't need a mate to reproduce. Nice build. I might try not using a drainage layer in my next enclosure. All of mine do now, but I've seen a few people recently who say their enclosures are fine without them. This has me wanting Anoles again lol. I had them as a kid, but have since been into Tokays, Cresties, Monitors and Tegus. Keep the vids coming!
That sounds right. I have so many different Isopods in different tanks I just know there are isopods in them at this point haha. Yeah I been skipping drainage layers for a while now and it’s been working great for me. I want a tegu and monitor myself but don’t have the room. Yeah I love anoles such a underrated reptile. A lot of people shrug em off since they are such a beginner lizard. I’ll definitely keep the videos coming thank you!
I sadly dont have a verticle tank, mine is horizontal but also kinda tall (basic 10 gallon from petco) but my 2 female brown anoles are happy and healthy
The basking and light area is pretty much the top canopy. Since he’s getting uvb from the uvb tube and my room is usually 80F I don’t use additional heat.
Yes it is needed for my room they are in it is really hot and the uvb light and led actually provides a hot spot. The room is 80f-85f the lights get some spots inside the tank to 85f-90f
I have the humidity the heat the lightbulbs the climbing things plants food water misting all that in my green anole doesn’t turn green it’s always brown am I doing something wrong?
