I looked into this a year ago and can't see it working unless you're in a city. It works on the number of devices It can see. If you live in the country or town your returns are much lower.

Double edge sword. If your in a city or town there will be lots of them so your sharing profits. For me its a fun project to get behind, profits are nice but not a deal breaker, for me.

Got two Raks myself, one at my apartment and one at my dads. If you didn't put it in the master bedroom I was thinking the extra room above the garage would of been good. Good luck with your mining. With you being more rural your might need to later install the outdoor antennae for sure, but the attic seems like it is the best option for sure. I run both mine off wifi so no problem with that as long as you get a signal.

Glad your showing from start to finish, a few others have just did videos saying they are earning so much and don't explain any thing. Also storm windows block signals too. My dad has gas filled Cat 5 storm windows and they totally wouldn't allow any signal through them. Welcome to the club.

Have Rak Hot Spot myself. Your going to want to get it at least up in attic and a better antenna. I put mine in attic but mounted antenna at peak of roof and made a huge difference in HNT earned. I recommend a 5.8 to 8dbi antenna and keep cable at 10ft or less.

Make sure you use a high rated ethernet cable to avoid electrical or signal interference. Also make sure the antenna cable extension (if you are using one to extend to the outside) doesn't shorten speed transfer.

This is my EXACT plan/thoughts around placing my MNTD and antenna. Miner in the attic, drill through the wall to a 5.8dbi antenna outside. Still trying to research the grounding requirements in regards to static and lightning. Curious to see how your plan plays out.

@@Goodvibessdaily Sorta. I did mount the antenna on the side of the house but ran the LMR through the ridge vent so I didnt have to drill anyholes for that. Working well!! Had to run a ground wire down to a grounding rod I installed. Pretty easy.

Just got the same one and I am gonna do the same thing! Got a 5.8dbi and lightning arrestor from rokland cuz the rak shipping is ridiculous. 25 foot lmr400 cable from USA coax. I'm just super nervous to set everything up for some reason. Also no way my in laws will let me drill any holes but I don't wanna set the antenna up inside 😔

I'm interested to see how it's going to work in a rural area. I to am in a rural area and going by the helium map, there's a few miners about 14 miles away in the nearest town. And since they're not too close, I haven't gotten one of these yet.

Same situation. So i just ordered a rak goldspot. Got it in 2 weeks, plugged it up 2 days ago, sent my first challenge, and made a few pennies already. I havent even opened port 44158 yet

get it off wifi if you can, will make a big difference. Also get an outside an antenna if you can. Between ethernet and outside antenna your gains will be drastically increased 7:20 good antenna choice :D

Oh man !! I want to get a gold spot sooo bad!! I wanted one last drop but I had bills due at the time and couldn't afford to pull the trigger 😭 I will be trying to get one in the next drop if I can though and I've been able to set aside some money just for it so maybe I can score one and get in on the People's network 😅
