Please make a video about corals and anemones!

That's how I started out 8 years ago room canisters for 5 years Oran Mor the only thing is I would never put the inlet and outlet at the same end of the tank one at one end one at the other the further apart they are the better they canister does its job mate that's all apart from that spot on

Has some drawbacks, but LOTS of people use them. Most people use sumps for stability thanks to the added water volume, but canister do fine aswell. Actually in nano and pico reefs we use HOB filters aswell or even none, just some powerheads. It's all a case by case scenario. Since this is a "Super Simple Setup" I have no objections :) FIshkeeping isnt written in stone. Take care.

I'd like to have a salt tank. My grandma used to have like a 75 gallon reef tank with some clown fish and a starfis. She had others but thats sll i can remember. That was about 12 years ago and i was only 3 years old. Everything is just so expensive. Reef rocks are $200 for 2. Coral buds really arent that bad where i may get them if i start a reef tank. The fish arent that bad either. About $40 for about 6 fish in a 25 gallon. Coral buds are about $15 each and right bow im thinking of a couple anenomes. Hope i spelled that right. And then there was another one with a weird name. It looks kinda like a mushroom.

Just out of curiosity you know what happens when salt water is next to brackish water, they don't mix at least free much because of different salinity levels. I wonder if it would be possible to recreate this in an aquarium small enough to fit in someone's house?

Hey people. Maybe a strange question, but I never had a reef tank before. Only tropical tanks for about 5 years now. I'm gonna set up a reef tank on my 200 Liter. It's still a tropical now, have to rehome some fish first. But if I rehomed them, I'm gonna set it up. If I got the crushed coral, dry rocks, etc in it, can I just put my filter(s) (which is now on my tropical) on the reef tank without changing biomedia? Or do I have 2 change it? Also i'm gonna put 1 or 2 tidal110's on it, what yall recommend? I already got 2, so I don't have 2 buy extra. Thanks in advance! ❤

Great video! Two questions: Do the bacteria appear "out of nowhere" once there's ammonia in the water, even if there's nothing living in the tank? And can you also add the bacteria and let the water cycle without fish, or will the cycle stagnate without ammonia sources?

It's not a problem to setup a marine tank...Buying health stones and corals...But main problem is to maintain It for a long time period...Startup investment is huge and after 1-2 years problems start to occur... tis is only for advanced people for sure...I admire marine tank keepers!

Prolly just stick with my tropical setups lol. I spent north of a grand on that alone and its not a particularly large tank. Only 112 litres. I thought lighting options for fresh water were pricey spent £500 on my light and that was expensive as hell I thought lol no way I'm spending a grand on a light alone just to grow some glow in the dark rocks that ultimately look unnatural... to my eye anyway. Do those corals grow in nature like that or are they genetically manipulated tat for people with 'unusual' tastes like glow fish im curious? lol that blue lighting nall, would make me feel like I was in a brothel 😄 is full spectrum white light not an option?

How do you clean/prep the rock and sand for the tank? Can I rinse in TAP water? Some people said it's not a good Idea if I do, do I let it air dry ?

Can I use a submersible filter pump for my first saltwater tank, something like a sunsun hj-311b, I currently have a 15-16 gallon simple glass tank, a submersible filter pump and a heater, can I use the same equipment for a saltwater aquarium after sufficient cleaning and steralyzing the filter. Any tips and recommendations are greatly appreciated, from fish to aquarium stocking and coral ideas. Thank you in advance

I'm kinda new to this stuff. Are the UV lights safe to be around? Should I turn them off at night? Keep getting mixed answers through searches.

I'm getting a old 4ft office cabinet with electrical sockets already inside it has 4doors on it the middle to have vents in the bottom of the doors off Facebook I have a jewel rio 180l tank and a 2ft 60l tank that should fit in the middle of the cabinet only thing is would this be a bigger enough for a sump with a 180l tank and I would be making a move from tropical fish to marine

Hey Mike, not to contradict you but can I suggest you do a series on this setup to show how the tank progresses? I think that would be proper in this case because you have a new canister filter who's media is completely new and the fact that you also used dead sand and dead rock. Maybe show how to mitigate the ensuing ammonia spikes and bacterial blooms as well as how to manage the lights for the first few weeks of the setup? (ie: until they can be run normally) I suggest that just to be fair to new hobbyists in giving them realistic expectations for when (ie what delay in terms of months) the first inhabitants can SAFELY be added to the system without putting them at risk. What do you think?

Yes I plan to follow along with this tank and explain what I do when I do it. What you have mentioned will be the next step in the series 😉👍🏽

Awesome video! I have a question though. Why wouldn’t you put your inlet and outlet on opposite sides of the tank for your canister filter?

At around 02:00'ish - you mention links will popup 'like this one' but nothing pops up. I've found the video you mentioned, but just a heads-up ;)

Id rather rely on bacteria and skip the canister filter, it'll keep the tank more stable. Just do weekly water changes and you'll be golden.

IF YOU HAVE AN AMAZON ALEXA DEVICE YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THE SKILL CALLED INTERSTELLAR OCEANS. ASK ALEXA HOW TO SET UP A SALTWATER TANK. THE RESULTS WILL SHOCK YOU.
