How to Setup Triple screens ATS and ETS2

Hello and welcome to SRL
As in the video description,, we will show you what you need to do to set up triple screens for American Truck Simulator and also European Truck Simulator 2.
Please note, we forgot to mention that you will still need to set up Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity (whatever GPU you are using) first in order for this to work, also to add your combined screen resolution in game to match your 3 screens, i.e. 3 x 1920x1080p screens gives a result of 5769x1080, and finally adjust your seat position in game to achieve the best results (FOV) for you.

Thanks thats really nice of you to say, i think the quality of my older videos and frequency was not that great to begin with, i'm still learning about what to deliver to my audience and the best way in which to present it, plus i don't think you tube puts smaller channels on peoples recommended videos very much, its more geared towards established channels. But to be honest i didn't start the channel to make it my career, i started it to try and give back to the community and to help others, as when i started i had a couple of great people who took me under there wings and helped me get the best out of my equipment.

Can’t make or force anyone to enjoy your content all we can do is create an hope they see! holy crapl, I've been fiddling with the .sii config settings for multimon, but I've just been making it a little worse each time. Changing these three settings in the main config file made a *huge* difference. Thanks!

I have 2 curved screens, but if I do this the truck and everything begins in the middle, I don't like that, is it possible to move the camera position more to left also for outside?

Hence why this is a guide for triple screens. Unfortunately no its not possible to move your position other than the inbuilt seat adjustments. There are some guides I've seen online about dual screens having one centre screen and only one left or right screen but I'm sure if you spend some time on google you'll find what your looking for.

I wonder if you could add a fourth screen just behind and beside you for the 'stick your head out the window' view. I use that a lot in both the game and when driving the real thing.

So you made an interesting comment that you manually have to set the screen angles to 45° but I’ve seen other videos estate for racing same triple monitor set ups that you need to base the distance away from you on the size of your screen and then the distance away will help determine you to calculate the angle that the monitors would have. so if you set up your screens differently than a 45° angle it wouldn’t work on your euro truck?

Hi, nice video, helped me to set up my screens. However, I see quite a few reply here saying that this doesn't work. I was about to write same but then I went to that multimonitor support page that you showed on video and I realized that even with these configurations you have to have nVidia Surround or something similar enabled. My first impression from the video was that all I need to do is to change those setting but in reality you also have to have nVidia surround (or something else) enabled. I think this might be misleading for some viewers (like me). Or am I misunderstanding something?

Hi, yes you are indeed correct in that either Nvidia surround or AMD's Eyefinity need to be enabled first in order for this to work. thanks for pointing it out i'll add this to the video description. I did presume that if people were using triple screens then they would have this set up already. I also forgot to tell people that the menu screen is reverted to single monitor when multimode is set to 2, which i found was the most common reason others said it wasn't working, also the fact that the image is quite zoomed in (i.e. you can't see your dash) if you have the correct FOV. My video started with the stretched single FOV and then went to the multi monitor FOV, but in order to run in single FOV then either Surround or eyefinity need to be enabled, as a common resolution for triple screens would be 5760x1080 which is also what the game is looking for. So no your not misunderstanding as i presumed people would of had this enabled when they started. Anyhow glad its working for you and like i said i'll make an amendment to the video description, but I'm always around to help where i can and you'll notice i reply to every comment (",)

I'm on a mission to get 3 screens working properly. My current setup is a 4k 55" TV with two 32" 1440p monitors on the side. I run a 6600 XT. Eyefinity Pro is pretty finicky and I could never get full screen on all 3 displays; the best I could do was with a big black bar on the top of the 4k. The mix in displays also made it run the TV at only 24hz (it runs at 120hz on the desktop). I've decided to upgrade to 3 4k displays so the resolution matches. I tested with a 65" and 43" TV, and got the game displaying properly on all 3, but only at 30hz. This is due to the Displayport to HDMI cables I have only supporting 4k30. I ordered some 4k60 cables so will report back tomorrow. Assuming all goes well, I'm going to replace the 32" side monitors with a pair of 50" 4k TVs. I'll need to tweak the settings so I can get to closer to 60fps. I was using maybe 80% GPU at 12032x2160 (the odd resolution is because 2 of the TV's actually use 4096*2160). What a journey.

Forgot to update; got two 50" 4k TVs (Hisense U6HF) and I'm happy to say the setup is working good. My 6600XT can only run ATS at 75% scaling on the 3 4k tv's, and that's with most settings on "high". I get around 45 fps, which is acceptable for ATS. I definitely need a beefier card if I want to play at higher settings, but the immersion I now have is just amazing.

My eye level is below the centre of the monitor; about where the game's logo is on the loading screen. Hence the interior in the left and right monitors 'slope upwards' from the middle monitor. I thought the vert_offsets would be the way to go; they helped the alignment but not the sloping. Can you please help?

Not really as thats why i explained why it was important to sit with your eyes centre to the monitors.

Hey, i got this all setup but have all 3 setup to dynamic 4k resolution because my main is 4k, second is 1440p, and third 1080p. The textures look blurred like crazy even with project next mod it is a very small change. Do you have any suggestions? If i change to 1080p or 1440p it looks even worse. Everything is way to stretched... Changing the horizontal fov to something smaller makes the camera way too zoomed in but fixes the blurry textures.

Hmmmm I’m not sure I can help to be honest, all 3 screens need to be the same resolution as far as I’m aware for it to work correctly. Also Nvidia surround or AMD Eyefinity needs to be enabled first.

Yes as mentioned in the description. You need to set up Nvidia surround as 1 screen first, or Eyefinity if you are using AMD GPU.

Im using 2 1920x1080p 24 inches monitor center-right.. got the multimon config from roextend forum and been olaying this for a whils. However I noticed thay the min to right side of my 2nd monitor (right) all objects are stretch out and close up and not looking natural. Im using nvdia surround also Maybe you have ideas hownto fix this..

Hey man having some issues here, so the ats stuff works, once I login and try and drive it shows the screen it would for a dual monitor but it only shows it on 2 monitor. Can you plz help, it would be greatly appreciated.

OK so do you have your monitors configured with Nvidia surround ? also its a good idea to check the graphics settings in game. ie if you are using 3 x 1080p screens you should see 5760x1080p for resolution. The front end and start of the game will go to single screen, only going to triples once in the trucks cabin. Hope this helps in some way, let me know how you get on.

Hi Simracing, I have a question. You explained the eye part very well, sadly that is a part of the problem I am having right now. My screens are in a 45 degree angle and my eyes are in center, still the side view goes down. When i start sitting on my knees, and have my eyes to the bottom of my screens, it looks right. Do you have any idea how I could fix this? Thank you so much.

Oh and the resolution is 5760x1080 :), all the same size and brand. Bezels are like 0.9 cm each side.

Hmmmm odd, are you sitting close to the monitors ? ie the left and right monitors extreme edges should be in line with your eyes too, so you should be sitting around 24 inches from the centre screen. ?

Hi! we turned on surround (NVIDIA) and followed your instructions. saved the config file. then start ETS but it shows in opening on 3 screens then it crashes. new PC with enough specs. Do you have an idea? Hope you can help. thanks for your post!

Hi,, I've not really had that experience. Do you have any mods enabled that maybe move things on the screen such as your GPS, i don't know but maybe something is conflicting with it ? Also have you put the Value back to "0" to run in single screen mode to check it still works ?

When you get in the cab it will be triple screen. it defaults to single screen for the menus only.

After I do this adjustment, my field of view is really "zoomed in". I have to look down just to see my dash. Is there a way to fix that? This adjustment is REALLY AWESOME! Removes that distortion. Thank you!!

Hi Bryan C Unfortunately that’s the trade off for the correct FOV, however you can move the seat backwards to increase your view but I highly recommend using a phone or pad if you have one to display your dashboard on. they don't need to be the same model, but as long as you have 3 screens that are the same size and resolution you should be ok.

I changed the config to “2” and then only my center screen works. Change it back and all three work but its stretched on the sides

You need to drive in the cab for all 3 screens to work. menus default to single screen.

What video card are you running in this setup? I'm wanting to do triples on mine but want a good card to get around 50 or 60 fps without buying the top card out there lol. Do you think a 2070 RTX would be good enough? I'd like to keep the game on near max settings as I have it now. Thx!

Hey Danny, My PC specs are all listed in the description below, but as you asked so nicely it's a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition. The 1080ti beats the RTX2070 by enough of a margin to matter even on single screens. i run almost max detail apart from shadows i have set at high i think, i have to run the game also at 300% rendering as when using the multimode mode you loose Anti Alliasing. but your info i get around 80 to 90 fps for the most part but it'll drop to around 40fps in the heart of the city. however saying that I've got around 30 graphics mods installed (video coming soon) plus extra traffic etc. which all has an impact on your fps, but to what extent all these mods i use adds up too, its not something I've tested yet.

@@josh351 My framefrate is much higher in 4k than using triple screens, its a different process on the GPU and can't really be compared as single screens only use one FOV where as triple screens set correct will use three independent FOV's which is a much heavier strain on the GPU.

I have a 2070 and at the same graphics settings (near max, 300% scaling) with 3 monitors I get 60-83 fps in Washington, which is highly detailed.

Awesome video man just have one question. My Resolution (5760x1080) I can't seem to figure out how to find my bezel size for my monitors so it lines up correctly, The screens are 24 inch. Just wonder where I should look to find them

Unfortunately you'll need to buy a third screen as this guide is for triple screens, Dual screens is a completely different process that I'm not familiar with but a quick google search gave me this, hope it helps. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628485050

Greetings i have all my monitors setup with the same Resolution. I#m not using Nvidia Surround mode because it won't work with my TV's. i set the Multimon mode to "2" like you said. I start up the game an it will only show on my left monitor, the other 2 (middle and right) show my desktop. i have no idea what else i should change -.- any idea what i should do? thanks

Ok so you may need to change the resolution in game 5760x1080 if your monitors are 1920x1080. You also mention TV so are you using a mixture of monitors and TV’s and are they all operating at the same refresh rate ie 60hz ? As not sure why Nvidia surround wont work.

@@SimRacingLife i only use 3 samsung 40" tvs... they are all set at the same resolution.. if i use nvidia surround it wont give me the resolution of 5760 x 1080 .. and ingame i can only set to 4k.

Hmmmm are your TV’s all set to 60hz. Also have you tried Windows 10 Display properties to make your desktop span all 3 screens to a combined resolution of 5760x1080. Do your TV’s support 1920x1080 as it all sounds a bit odd to me, Also they are all connected to just your GPU outputs and not using a motherboard display out ? I’ll try and look into this for you some more later when I finish my day job (“,)

@@SimRacingLife windows shows me 3 screens. They are all set to an resolution of 1920×1080 at 60 Hz. If i try to use nvidia surround, some strange resolution comes out (can't remember right now what exactly) that's the reason why i went into the conig in iracing and set ist to 5760x1080 and it works perfekt in iracing. Not in ets2, if i change the setting manually, it stays at 1920x1080 and nothing happens - ets2 is still shown on the left monitor -.- to bad it doesn't work, because its the perfekt game to calm down..

Wazzma I’m not giving up on you I’ll try and find a solution. Have you got your desktop spanned across all 3 TV’s ? In your display properties I believe you can set each screen to extend desktop.

Hi John, sorry for the late reply. you can press F4 when in game. keep pressing it until you get to seat adjustment screen. you can't change your FOV as its set by SCS, however you can adjust your seat position and you should be able to see more by bringing the seat back. @@SimRacingLife You can set the FOV in the config file with the 'r_multimon_fov_horizontal' setting and this should be calculated as a per monitor value based on seated distance to the centre screen. The view can be further adjusted by using mode 4 and the '***_offset' settings to change the camera viewing angle to suit the screen position.

Thanks for the heads up, last time I tried to adjust the horizontal FOV in the config file nothing happened or appeared too. I’ll be sure to try out your suggestion though after the weekend.

@@SimRacingLife Just a follow up I should have mentioned, if your total FOV across all 3 screens is 120 degrees or greater, make sure you set the in-game FOV slider to the max setting (right). There is a bug where the right mirror won't render at certain angles if the in-game FOV and actual rendered FOV are too far apart.

Hi! Hope u see this comm. I put multimode on 2 in config but when I start the game isn„t working on all 3 monitors... There are all 3 1920x1080. Could be a problem because 2 of them are 24.5 inch and one is bigger? 27 inch

the game defaults to single screen when in the menus. press the drive button and it will go to triple screen, as it only works in cab.

Hi bro. May i know, right now i am using 2019 imac 27inch 5k. Spec is 3.6ghz 10-core intel i9, memory 40gb and graphic AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT 16gb. I would like to buy 2 more monitors 27inch 4k. Can this mac spec setup as triple screen?

Hello! I have nividia 950 and have done everything you have done but it is not expanding on my 3 screens it still only uses the middle monitor. I have enabled surround because I use 3 monitors for xplane11. i go into graphics settings on ats but there is no setting for 5670x1080.. Thanks for your time!!

Thats really odd, and yes surround is fine, you have tried to drive the truck i take it ? because the first few screens default to just the middle monitor until you are driving. you can force the game into that resolution by editing the config file, about half way down you'll see uset_r mode height "" and below it you'll see uset_r mode width "" just add "1080" and "5760" respectively and let me know how you get on. make sure you keep the quotation marks Also do you see any resolutions that are selectable ? and could you use triple screens on ATS before trying this ?

No you can't control it via software, so you need to physically move your side monitors to 45 degrees. SCS hard coded it like that, and I've not come across any work arounds.

This may help... above didnt work completely... I have a Radeon Rx-480 video card... once I downloaded the drivers for the card... it was super easy to setup eyefinity.... once setup.... it was 3 32" curved screen amazement...great video, great instructions!!! Thanks!!

I'll be perfectly honest and say that i really don't know, as I've always had Nvidia surround enabled. That being said its possible it will work and only having to change one setting in your config file makes it a simple thing to try as you can always edit the file and change it back. @@SimRacingLife No, it doesn't work. If i set resolution manualy - game ignore values. uset r_mode_height "1440" uset r_mode_width "7680" So i can get 2560x1440 only. "Pcars 2" maintenance windowed triple. In Assetto Corsa i set resolutions in video.ini WIDTH=7680 HEIGHT=1440 and get choice 7680x1440 in game. Be good if developers release such ability for ETS/ATS.

That’s a real shame, SCS handle triples differently to other sims and I can’t see that changing any time soon if at all. What is happening when you try to enable surround as this is the only way to get it to work ? (Or so it would seem)

My only question is : can you get your both mirrors in view , with an ultra wide screen ? Is it possible , or do we have to wait for a bigger ultrawide equivalent to triple screens to hit the market?

I believe its possible, but i don't have one to test it on, but your image will be stretched with an ultra wide monitor as you'll only have one FOV (field of view), giving the impression that your looking through a fish eyed lens. Also another thing to note is that if you where thinking of a curved ultra wide it will not curve the FOV to fit round the curve. May i suggest watching this video by Squirrel ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8BNftyf9HL0.html ). He makes some great videos and well worth a watch, he has a triple screen and ultra wide setup, however in his video he doesn't really have his triples set up correctly as you'll be able to see massive amounts of stretching on his side monitors which is caused by only having the one FOV. I hope this helps to explain things a little more, but if i can still help then just ask (",)

Well I would say in that video he’s pulled the virtual seat right back running with a high FOV setting as many things look stretched, if that’s something that doesn’t bother you then we’ll you’ll be good to go.

A very wise move, sorry I couldn’t be much help, I’ll be honest and say though I purchased an ultra wide monitor at the beginning of the year but I sold it 2 weeks later and returned to triples. However I only tried it with racing sims such as AC, RF2 and iRacing.

@@dmx3674 Your graphics are integrated with your CPU, so you don't have a graphics card par say. X-Plane uses a different graphics engine to Truck sims and isn't implemented in the same way.. To be honest I doubt you would get very good frame rates with that graphics chip either, but alas you need Nvidia surround enabled, which isn't available to you on an intel chip.

@@dmx3674 Well make sure before you order one that it has 3 independent outputs and is Nvidia surround compatible. you can check which cards are on the Nvidia website. Yes of course, intergrated GPU are not very good to be honest, so yes. you'll probably need to turn off the intel graphics when you install a new GPU.

Hi Rick, Hmmmmm it is possible that the 1050Ti isn't powerful enough to run triple screens, have you tried turning down your graphics settings to see if that helps, also do you notice if the GPU cards cooling ramps up much ? (i'm guessing it would) have you checked the GPU fan curve and maybe select a more aggressive curve. If you have AA turned on in the graphics settings then i know this will take extra vram which is something that card doesn't have a lot of, so maybe turn it off for now to see if it helps. I do think that the 1050Ti is possibly the problem as you've said, but just try my suggestions and see if that helps, failing that though i would suggest an upgrade when you can afford too.

@@SimRacingLife i am also using a 1050ti. The game runs smooth at 60 FPS and Ultra settings at 5760 x 1080. But i have an other Problen: the menu is dasplayed at only one monitor and the mouse sensitivity is awful, its vertical faster than horizontal. do you have any idea how to fix that?

@@byquotex4378 Yes thats normal for the menu to just display on your centre monitor. As far as your mouse goes though, i've not experienced that at all and not heard anybody else talk about it. maybe delete the config file in your documents folder (back it up first mind) and re run the game.

Hi Saleh 1, i think you must be looking in the wrong directory as without that config file the game wont remember your settings, or it wont be there if you've not run the game yet. So make sure your looking under c:/users/YOUR NAME/documents/American Truck Simulator/ and not your install folder. It is there, i promise you, and to be honest its why i made the video because i could only find one other, and his explanation was buried in a two and a half hour video of a talk and drive. @@underrated-simracer Ok, so are your side monitors set at a 40-45 degree angle from the centre screen as i mentioned in the video, because unlike other triple screen games ETS2 and ATS don't allow you to change the angle so it been set by SCS Software. which basically means you have to physically move your monitors to that angle.

@@SimRacingLife i ended up discovering the problem shortly after and forgot to delete the original comment, as i got to into my game as a result of having three monitors. what it ended up being was me being stupid in that i forgot to adjust my resolution to the new one that came up as a result of the new config information available as a result of switching the value of multimon_mode. sorry about the trouble.

Thanks so much! What's the ideal degrees the monitors should be placed at relative to each other? 45? In-Game it's like the left of me is at a very odd angle compared to the middle screen, almost disorienting, presumably that's the angle of my monitors and Nvidia Surround? EDIT: I moved my monitors back to a very obtuse angle to where they were before and it's less disorienting now, but still a little off, not bad and definitely playable, but still misaligned.

Hi MagicCookie, I believe it’s 45 degrees. I have both my monitors at 43 degrees, so I notice a very slight rise on the left and right monitors but nothing distracting as it’s almost perfect. But I have mine set like this as I use my triples for many other racing sins etc. Hope this helps and happy trucking 👍🏻

You cant adjust FOV as its already set by SCS when Multimon is set to 2. however you can adjust your seat position, which can be moved up, down, left, right, back and forward. hope this helps (",) ?

I hate to be the bearer of sad news but unfortunately the GT 630 GPU isn't powerful enough by a long shot to do any triple screen gaming. To answer your other question i have a GTX 1080Ti and have all graphics set to maximum and 300% on the rendering in the graphics option. The minimum current card i would recommend would be a GTX1050Ti for triple screen and even then you'll need to turn down some graphics settings to achieve a nice smooth experience. But all this aside, your CPU really makes a difference to how well your GPU will perform.

@@bunasir394 Yes but i would just add that whatever card you are buying make sure it has at least 3 video outputs on the back plate. and really i would suggest to buy a GTX1650 Super, its a little bit more money but you'll get better results. Also this is a low end card for triple screens so don't expect to be turning your graphics settings to maximum.

Are you running triple screens ? and are you running any mods 3rd part mods ?

If you're using triple monitors then you can change the FOV in the config file. A higher value will make it seem like you are sitting further back, lower will seem closer. Ideally, the FOV should be calculated properly for your seated distance to the screen and the setting in the config is the FOV for each monitor. So if your total FOV across 3 screens is calculated as 135 degrees, then the config FOV value should be set to 45.

@@sergioklukas5329 The frozen right mirror is an issue caused by the rendered FOV and the in-game FOV settings being too far apart. Assuming your total screen FOV is 100 degrees or more you can fix it by changing the in-game FOV slider (via the F4 key) to the maximum setting (right).

Hi Chris, Lets see if we can sort this out for you. Firstly what GPU do you own Nvidia or AMD ? Also have you set up surround on your PC's monitors ? as this was something i forgot to mention. for Nvidia cards just right click anywhere free on your desktop and select Nvidia control panel. its from here you can setup Nvidia surround, I'm not entirely sure how its done with AMD cards but i will find out for you if you own an AMD card. Let me know how your getting on, I'm never far away and more than happy to help out.

Changing the lines on the game config will not effect the rest of your PC, so the comment "now nothing works" is not down to this file change I can assure you. Have you gotten into the cab itself as the menu screens default to 1 screen, and will only display on 3 screens when in the cab. I know your obviously feeling frustrated, but you just cant do on a console what you can on a PC. But they do require you to do some leg work to get results. Edit: I'm a moron. Just needed to actually get to the driving view, it was working fine. Ahaha now to fix the angles on the side screens. Original comment: Here's hoping you still reply to comments on this. So far, I've got 3 monitors, all set up and working. I can gey ETS2 to play, but og course the FOV is horrible. However, when I set the multimon mode to 2, suddenly I only get one screen and the outer two are black. I tried changing tje resolution, no luck. If I change it back to zero, goes back to three skewed screens. No clue what I'm doing wrong! I should note, the 2 sides screens go black, I can no longer see my desktop. Feels like the game is using the screens but not rendering there :(

Well you are in luck here, because I answer everything. Anyhow have you got Nvidia surround enabled as you'll need this. I wrote it in the video description as I forgot to mention that all important part.......Aha as I type I see you have sorted it out. Odd though my menus all appear in the centre screen, but thats probably surround :)
