Made a darling bag with my 15-year-old granddaughter using this VERY HELPFUL video. Yes, we had to replay it many times, but we did get it right. Also had some great laughs as we went through! We made an 8x15 inch lined zippered bag with a shoulder strap out of the same fabric. Stylish and fun! THANKS, Melanie!!

For anyone here making this, when sewing all 4 sides, (except your hole to flip it) you want your teeth facing the lining of your pouch not the outer pieces. It will bunch up on the ends if you sew your teeth towards the outer fabric.. just a tip!! Many many bags I've made and the only one that didn't turn out, was the one that I sewed with zipper facing outter. Other than that, this is a great tutorial!! Very clear, descriptive instructions..

I purchased a sewing machine a couple weeks ago and have never used one before. I sat down on Saturday to teach myself to sew using tutorials on You Tube. This tutorial was the first one I found and I ended up using it to make myself a make up pouch! I have made 3 since and am making a 4th one tonight for a friend. Your video was so helpful - thank you!! You taught a non-sewer how to sew :))

Melanie thank you for all your beautiful tutorials. Melanie's family thank you for continued sharing of her work with us. Hope it's forever. What a lovely way to remember her and enjoy her life well lived and her giving spirit. You are missed and one can only imagine all the magical and practical projects you might have created for us. But you made a big ripple that will keep on giving during your life on earth and now beyond. Lovely lady and beautiful family. I have favorites from Nancy Zimmerman that I return to over and over and it's been precious that her family continues to share her tutorials too. Thank you for your kindness.

So lovely, you just popped up from my facebook page advertising a cat purse. I love your teaching, everything I learned I learned from you and now make lovely cot quilts, large quilts, and also incubator quilts, as well as the confidence I got from you.. Thankyou Melanie, I like to think you are still around, you are in my head. I miss you.

I love this tutorial! I have referenced it several times while making little bags for friends. I actually love using binder clips now. I always used needles but love how much easier it is to put the clips on and take them off. Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to say, THANK YOU! Ive wasted so much fabric and time yelling at myself from watching other videos. Your video is seriously the BEST one, you explained everything very well and are actually showing your sewing machine while doing the project. I have so much more confident in myself now. 😊 can't wait to try more!!

Hello Melanie, I am a 53 year-old single father with the most basic of sewing skills. Your tutorial on sewing a zipper clutch was so clear and precise and very helpful. Your are very articulate and well spoken which was enjoyable to watch and listen to. I am also one that is intimidated with zipper installation, but have already finished my 5th Zipper Clutch just today. My girlfriend and the neighbor girls are thrilled with their new clutches. Thank you for your support

Best instructional video for zipper purse I've seen. The video didn't miss any step, the pace was great to follow /not too fast and clear step by step kept simple. ( Thanks for sharing the paper clip, should be quicker than pins.) Best lessons are when things are kept simple. ( You make a good teacher. Hope you make more instructional videos.)

Even for someone like myself who has been sewing for years, getting a revised and refreshed look at putting in a simple zipper. Easy to follow, great for beginners. Zippers might look scary, but seriously, they're a walk in the park. Thanks for this! :)

This is so great, Melanie. I love your channel. When I began crocheting in 2015 your channel was my go-to learning center. I just bought my first sewing machine and feel somewhat intimidated by it so I have a hunch I'll be making this pouch down the road, after I've gained some experience on the machine ... I'm going to check out the simple sewing project you mentioned below--the zippered pouch project seems a bit advanced for a newbie like me. Thanks again for sharing your talents with us.

Hi Melanie! First I just want to say I love, love, love your tutorials!! I have quilted and enjoy sewing, but have always stayed away from anything that requires a zipper!!..LOL...After watching this tutorial I pulled some cute navy and yellow pansy material from my stash, rolled my sleeves up and gave it a try. I love it!!..The zipper isn't perfect but it works! I will be making more of these..I am working my way up to the wet bag for my daughter who trains for triathalons at a pool and always has a wet bathing suit to travel home with..that bag will be perfect....Thank you for all you do!!

Thank you for this great video! You are a good teacher, and very appealing to watch. I had made a couple of zippered pouches in the past, but really needed a refresher. I'm making little pencil pouches for a couple of young granddaughters and filling them with colored pencils. I also do papercraft, so I'm making a couple of personalized notebooks to go with the pouch.

Hello Melanie, I accidentally deleted your site from my favorites file and tried settling on other clutch videos, but yours worked so well. I was thrilled to have found it again. I've made enough of them now that I really do not need a tutorial, but it's been a while and I often forget the flipping of the pieces and the dreaded zipper. I'm all back on track again and was happy to see and hear your tutorial. I also prefer using clips regardless of the naysayers. Good day to you. Greg
