Formidable admirable bellísima encantadora linda felicitaciones me encantooo😘😘😘besitos quedó muy hermosaaaa gracias desde Pereira Colombia felicitaciones
I saw a quilt like this on Facebook, and the woman who made it linked to your video. I couldn't imagine how the quilt would together, but you made it look so easy! Thank you for this tutorial.
That was good of her. It did take me a while to work out how to do it in my head but I knew it had to be possible! My next brain teaser is how to work out making a diagonal granny square hoodie. I can't 'see' how I'm going to fit the sleeves🤷♂️ c x
This technique is so amazing! I have never seen this method of joining the groups of V’s! Thank you for a great tutorial! I do want to try it with longer strips!
Glad you like it, took me a while to figure out the method but it really works! I can't see there's any reason why you can't do longer strips as long as the length is a multiple of the width plus seam allowances, c x
Looks wonderful! I've been planning to make a quilt for years. Now I know what I will do. I have a ton of fabric scraps and I will enjoy being able to start cutting strips all the same size. Thank you so much.
She has made this look so easy. Although I realize it won't be easy for me, I am finally encouraged enough to start my long promised tie quilt for my sister.
Just try it out first on a few rectangular scraps and remember not to sew right to the end of the seam. Once you get your head around it you'll see how simple it really is, c x
Thanks Sarah, I'd never seen a demo for this design before so I had to work it out from scratch so I've shared all the little hints that I found when making it. I'd like to re-film it now we have better equipment but I also quite like the charm of our old 'office table and one man with a handheld camera' set up! c x
You did it so much easier than I thought it would be. I have a lot of leftover strips of fabric and now I know how I am going to use them. Thanks. Loved your show.
I have been looking for something like this for a while. Love the tutorial. You definitely make this look manageable. My heart started to swell when you joined the pieces together and they just blended so easily into one another.
Thank you so much. I am so excited to try this out. I think it is Brilliant how you cut the one edge off at the end and used it to fill in the other. I am excited to try this. Also a great way to use up scraps! I will be watching you for a long time!
Judy Hammack here. I love the look of this pattern. I am going to put it on my list for a future project. Thank you for sharing this and it does look easy; time consuming but easy. And beautiful!❤
I never liked the herringbone pattern because all the patterns were done in parallel lines. But now I love it! I can't wait to make a true herringbone design! You make it so doable and I'm so glad I found your videos. You made a subscriber out of me! Thank you.
Thanks Timmy, glad you like the way it works. I didn't like the straight lines either but it took a while to figure out how to sew the zigzag edges together easily! c x
OMGosh...I love that your are left handed! I am too...I totally feel your pain living in a right handed world. You gave very clear instructions. Thanks.
The Crafts Channel I know! I noticed that you said you are left handed, but like me, in the video, you were cutting with your right hand. We’re a product of our environment on these issues... 😂
Ha ha, it took me a while to figure it out in my head before I committed it to fabric but it worked out better than I could've imagined! Glad you like it, c x
Brilliant. Both the continuous rather than the "strippy" set and using the cut off points to fill in the other end. Glad you pointed out that those thould be trimmed a bit farther in to accomplish that.
Hi Lily, we're in the UK so all our projects are usually metric. finding a metric quilters rule is not so easy though, the one I've got is like gold dust!
Realistically we ran out of time and that step, although not difficult, can be tricky if you're trying to rush it. It isn't necessary, I just do it because it saves the waste. c x
Hi Ananya, yes, it's not a quilt that you can make really quickly but once you get the hang of sewing the herringbones together it doesn't take too long. Glad you like it, c x
This was so much fun to sew. I’m making it into a large pillow for my granddaughter. I couldn’t figure out how to post my photo...but the center column is Kaffe fabrics and the outer columns are neutrals.
Glad you enjoyed it Kitty, it's great when it all comes together isn't it? We've got a facebook page if you're on there, maybe you could pop a picture on there? c x
made a quilt with this technique and it worked fabulously! Love that there's no waste. My question is what is the math formula to know how many rectangles are needed to make a certain size quilt? Something where I could plug in my finished size rectangle and desired length and it would tell me how many rectangles are needed. Same for width - how many rows are needed to get the desired width of the quilt.
Ah... honestly I have no idea! I just made it up as I went along. Maybe you could sketch it out on graph paper and work it out from there? Sorry, I'm not much help, c x
Thank you for this wonderful video!! It has helped me to figure out this pattern which I have loved for years!! Plan on making a wedding quilt for July 7th!! I have tons of scrap pieces lying around my sew room. Thanks again!!
Glad we've helped Amy. It did take me a while to work out the easiest way of doing it because I'm so used to sewing seams to the end of the fabric! c x
Just made my first Broken Herringbone quilt top. It's a fantastic technique- so little waste and such a cool result. Thanks so much for the easy-to-follow tutorial!
I have watched this video until its nearly threadbare, I just could not get it. I'm new to Quilting. I did think I had it sussed only to find that I had made a mess of the final strip, ( I used a jelly roll and cut equal sizes of strips), quick unpick to the rescue it was red hot but I managed to resew the final strip, I just have to make sure I put it together with the other two. fingers crossed. thanks for this video, it finally sunk in. Ann
Glad it made sense in the end Ann. If it's any consolation it took me forever to work out the easiest way to do it in the first place. All those interlocking seams seemed nigh on impossible! c x
I love you. I have been looking for a 'how to' video for a pattern that had no name for and in frustration I put in 'zik zag' quilting and up you came talking about' broken herringbone'. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have given it a 👍, I have subscribed and hit the 🔔. Merry Christmas 🎅😊
Ha ha, so frustrating when you can't put a name to something! Glad you found us, have a great Christmas too, I take it you'll be busily making quilts for everyone now? c x
God, i tried to do this while back and had no clue how it done until now. Thank you so much for the teaching. You have helped me turn all srcaps to a beautiful quilt.
Sorry for the fright! If it's any consolation it is a retractable rotary cutter so when I'm brushing away the offcuts I'm not risking slicing the back of my other hand!
