This is an easy storage solution for both your wardrobe and sewing room! A good beginner project, learn about zip insertion and lining. To make the hanger hole in the top, just unpick a few stitches when you've finished sewing!

Looking for a peg bag and came across this video. Love the idea of this for makeup, gifts for Xmas or to store different things like chargers, pens or even hair straighteners. Such a good item to use big scraps and unwanted or ugly fabric. 🙈 love love love. Older videos still prove their worth. Thank you Debbie!!

Just made mine in a practice fabric as I’m a newbie. My very first zip!! I’m so proud off it! I love it, I’m going to make some for a bridal party and hopefully get some heat transfer decals to put their names on the bottom half. Perfect for keeping their accessories in. Thank you so much

Hi, Debbie, I am Jean from Singapore. Thank you for teaching this Coat Hanger Cover, I made one for myself and have been using it everyday. Your step to step is easy to follow though I stopped and replay, watched many times before I completed :) thank you again:)

Thanks for another great tutorial. However, it's left me a little confused... You marked the lines for the "hole" on the top fabric, and then afterwards you cut away the marks you'd made. Then when stitching the top fabric pieces together you didn't leave "hole" in the top for the hook, you stitched straight across, you also did this with the lining. So how did you get the hook of the hanger to go through a "hole" that wasn't be there? Apologies if I seem really stupid.
@theresahayes5798
@theresahayes5798 Год назад
You don't seem stupid, I thought the exact same thing, and I even rewound it to make sure I wasn't going mad and maybe I had missed something, but no, she didn't mention leaving the gap at the top for the hanger hook, so it left me a little confused when she mentioned hole at the top for the hook, at the end of the video.

This is really nice. Thanks Debbie, will be making some. I see you have a toy sewing machine on the shelf behind you. I live in Australia and I have exactly the same one that I had when I was a little girl back in the 50s. Mine is up on the shelf in my cupboard in my sewing room. Brings back many happy memories.

I love this idea! Will be a perfect bridal shower gift. This project is perfect the way it is but I think I would cross-hatch the top fabric to the batting for the front and back. I may also embroider their name or some other type of machine embroidery on the front and then cut out the size I need. You did a fantastic job explaining how to do it.

LOVE this tutorial, when I stitched the front to the back main pieces ( marked the halfway !) then stopped & backstitched, left small gap, then back stitched again, sewing to the end. This is just my way & worked very well for me !

I was wondering about the 2 holes at the top for the coat hanger to be inserted. I just re read you script above. I thought I missed something. I didn't & that is exactly the way I was inserting the hanger. What a wonderful project. I will be making more as Christmas Gifts. The family will not see that coming. So useful. I will also sew in masculine colours so the males in the family will get one too ! Thak you.

Great idea. I loved the end result and will definitely make more for gifts. I feel the tutorial went way too quickly for a beginner sewer. At the end she talked about poking the hanger through the hole you had left in the top seams... That was not mentioned in the tutorial. As a seasoned sewer I realised this was not addressed during the tutorial and I did the the stop/ start at the middle on the top seams of the outside and the inside. Much more secure .

@@debbieshore afraid not you stitched right the curved part where you should have stopped at the top and left a small opening and carried on sewing but I just poked the coat hanger thru. 😁

The instructions say 34 x 12” but then it jumps into pieces that are cut 5 inches wide by I don’t know how many inches long. And then the bottom is the same length as the top but again I don’t know how many inches wide it is. Can you tell me if I missed the part where it gives the directions or the measurements of the actual pieces used? I’m about ready to cry because I’ve already cut my expensive material to be 34 x 12”
@susanwright6159
@susanwright6159 3 года назад
I have just looked and think that the front is 17 inches wide by 5 inches at the top and 17 inches by 7 inch at the bottom. The back is 17 inches wide by 12 inches. This is why the material required is given as 34 x 12 inches. Hope this helps anyone who reads this. Going to give this a try this afternoon as think it will make a lovely gift 🎁 😊

Good idea and great gift idea, yes I thought as you were making it you forgot to leave a space for your hanger ,maybe either show an add on of unpicking that would be clearer to first time sewers? Always love your tutorials, your so sew neatX

Debbie Shore won’t that allow it to fray? Just unpicking it? I’m thinking a button hole, but it might be awkward. I’ll have to give this some thought! 😉
