I’m so glad aI found this video! I just finished crocheting Lucy the Hare from the New Collection book. I didn’t see any instructions for completing the head and stitching up the hole at the front, so I was puzzled as to how I was going to do that. Thanks for posting this!

Your explanation is so clear and pointed! You taught me things I didn't know I needed to know. I am working on my first amigurumi, its a giraffe and it confused and frustrated me but so worth the effort. I'm almost done so, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you! ☃️

Thank you for posting this! I was gifted ‘The New Collection’ for my birthday and am working on my very first, Chloe the Woodmouse. I can read the patterns but I’m a very visual learner - sometimes I need to see it being done before I can understand it properly. I’m so excited to finish Chloe!

Hello, I know it is the same method to stuff & sew the animals together no matter what size yarn you use 😋 but it would be great to see a large animal with chunky yarn & 8mm hook to be stuffed & seen together 😁 💜 Erica x

How can I find and purchase the mini unicorn pattern. I seen it on the website at one time but I looked a couple weeks ago and couldn't find it! Help thank you.

Do you have a video where you show how to make the toy extra secure for kids under 3? nAlso how to secure the yarn when you have different colours and don't want them to peak out the other colour?

Please could you do a sewing up video for the minis to go with the new mini animals books. Would be good to see your placement of things and how many stitches you use to put things in place on the smaller scale. x

Hi Rachel, Thank you for commenting. Yes, we are planning a mini sewing up video soon to give tips and tricks for smaller crochet projects. Kerry will be taking more about mini patterns from our new books on Instagram and Instagram Live soon too. Watch this space! Best wishes and happy crocheting.

Are the Ed’s dolls legs done in the same way? I’m making the mini wise men and can’t quite figure it out. Thanks 😊
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 3 года назад
Hi Imogen, thank you for your comment. The legs on the mini wise men are sewn closed in the same way and then sewn in a straight line on the base of the mini doll body. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

My question is about Georgina the hippo. This is my first animal and I think it looks like the head is attached slightly higher on the body or the hippo face will be very low on the belly of the body? Should I attach the head a little above the neck area for this reason?
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 4 года назад
Hi Maureen, Thanks for your comment. Georgina's head will end with the large nose, which you gather on a wool needle as Kerry shows in this video. The smaller part of the head will be the part you attach to the body of your Hippo, and is sewn on in the same way as our standard animal. If you would like to get in touch with us at help@toftuk.com I am happy to send you the pdf pattern for Georgina so you can see some extra photos of her from the side and back. Best wishes, Toft Help Team.

I got stuck on assembling Bridget. Couldn’t find in the book on how to position the head with the body as well as how and where to attach the ears. This is my very first try to crochet an amigurumi. Please advise where I can get help on this. Thank you.

I bought the book and attempting Esme the Fox. The one in the book is different from the one shown on the website as a kit. The white on the face and ears look different. Why is that?

The pattern changed. I think if you bought the book direct from Toft you can get the updated version.

Hello, it’s my first toy - presumably this sewing up process in the video is the same for the poodle? Thank you! Also, are there any pictures online of the poodle in a lighter colour, so I can see the finer detail? The black poodle pictured on the pattern is quite hard to see.

Hello Lauren, Thank you for your comment. Yes, we recommend the same sewing up process for the vast majority of the standard form animal patterns, which includes the Poodle. Best wishes and happy crocheting!

Just starting doing my first Ed Menagerie, 2 questions I live in Canada can you advise an alternative yarn, unable to purchase TOFT, ( will do on my next visit too England). I am doing Derek the mole and watched your Stitch Traverse video but not quite understanding the rolling back of the snout !? Love your videos, books learning lots fro you!

Can you get hold of King Cole Merino Blend DK in Canada. I use that a lot and find it nice to work with. I save the Toft wool for special makes, usually for gifts.

I use Impeccable Solid Yarn by Loops & Threads, I get it at Michaels Canada. I use a 5mm hook. There are a good number of earth tones I use for the almost all the patterns in Ed's Menagerie. It's acrylic so it doesn't really "fuzz" up like wool does, so I can't get the same effect shown in most of the loop stitch patterns, like the dogs. I'm currently making a moose using Lion Brand Skein Tones Yarn which is very soft but a lighter weight. I'm using a 4.5mm hook (probably could have used a 4mm) and the body is maybe 2/3 the size of my standard animal. I'm trying this because they have a lovely shade of brown that the Impeccable doesn't have.

Is the part for sewing up the head the same for the trunk of bridget the elephant? Thank you!
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 3 года назад
Hi Katherine, Thank you for commenting. We sew the end of Bridget's trunk flat, like the top of a standard leg. But you could stuff it lightly and sew it with a rounded edge if you prefer. Happy crocheting!
@daxafer

TOFT thank you! Bridget is my first crochet project, and I ended up undoing the trunk because it was lumpy when i tried to sew it closed close to the face, instead of at the end of the trunk. This answer is exactly what I was looking for

Hi I was very confused for pear body shape . Standard body. I have the book and keep reading but I don't understand. Round 4 Round5, 6 and Round 7 dc6 dc2 6 times but it's curls. Does it means same loop 6 times but makes big curls. Please help. Thank you.
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 2 года назад
Hi Sherry, Thank you for getting in touch. The body will curl once you start to do round of crochet without increases. The piece will probably try to curl towards you like a cup, but you need to push it to curl away from you so you can easily work the stitches and see the outside/right side of the fabric, leaving your yarn tail from the dc6 into a ring on the inside of the body piece. If you're having trouble with a specific line of instruction or pattern in general then feel free to email us on help@toftuk.com and even send a photo of the piece you are working on if you like and we can help further! It might also be worth watching some of our other videos to take you from the very beginning of reading our patterns and the first few rounds of crochet. I hope this helps. Best wishes and have a lovely day, Beth - Team TOFT

I’m new to amigurumi and have just completed the basic body both head and body in one piece. I’ve stuffed and sewn together but the head is wobbly. Is there a way post completion to make the head not wobble? Thank you.

Hello, yes you could oversew a few more wraps of yarn between the back of the head and body to secure it further. I hope this helps!

Hello um how do you add a being of yarn if you cut the tails short?
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 4 месяца назад
Hello, it depends if you just need it for sewing up or to continue crocheting. If you’re sewing up then you can take a new length and sew it around a few stitches to secure it then continue sewing up as normal. If you need it to keep crocheting with then you can join it in the way you would to change colour, by doing the last yarn over of the stitch with the new yarn. I hope that helps! ❤️🧶 Best wishes, Team TOFT

I think all the toys are crochet. They don’t do patterns for knitted ones. I’ve seen some people on facebook convert the crochet patterns to knitted ones though.

I bought one of your books and the stitch count for Top Hat does not line up. Do you have an updated fix/tutorial for that? Adding 5 new stitches to a row of 30 doesn’t equal 42 as your pattern in book suggests..
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 2 года назад
Hello, the correction is: p.68 TOP HAT - Rnd 5 (dc4, dc2 into next st) 6 times (36), then round 6 goes to 42 following the standard increase. Apologies for this error in print! Kind regards.

This yarn is so expensive, what is a substitute yarn?
@TOFT_uk
@TOFT_uk 3 года назад
Hi Bobbi, You can make the Ed's Animals patterns with any wool or yarn. Just make sure to use the correct size crochet hook (often stated on the yarn label) to achieve a nice tension and sturdy fabric. Best wishes and happy crocheting.

No they don’t. In the U.K. to sell crochet toys you have to have them CE safety tested.
