When I started shaving my mom was in the Army so she wasn't around to help me. I asked my dad for help and he just gave me the razor and shaving cream. I thought we shaved our legs in the sink because I always watched my dad shave his face at the sink so that's what I did. My mom came home and was like "Why?? Are you shaving in the sink????" And I said "Dad always shaves in the sink." We both turned to my dad and he was like "Oh, no, I don't shave my legs."

I am ashamed to say that I do not know how to take care of myself properly (i.e., shave), but in my defense I had no guidance growing up on how to do ANYTHING as a woman. Thank you for the simple explanations and tips (especially about taking care of the razor!)

A few months ago I realized that all my friends had no hair on their legs, and I thought there was something wrong with me, because my legs were super hairy, and it wasn’t “normal" to see a woman with leg hair. So while I was taking a shower I used my dad's razor. It felt super weird and I loved how my legs looked. But I feel that it is a waste of time to shave almost every day for the simple fact of being a woman and to be criticized if you go with hairy legs. I like the way it looks, but I don't like having to pass blades every time I shower and get dry skin. I don't like to torture myself to remove my natural hairs from my skin. using wax, blades, chemicals, or spending a lot of money on laser hair removal. I know you’ll say "well if you don't like it, don't do it" but I don't think anyone likes to do those things. Just because there are people who are going to look at you with disgust, they will tell you unhygienic, ugly, hairy, and a million things.

My first experience with hair removal was when I was 12. My mom took me to a wax appointment because she said shaving made your hair feel stubbly. I cried from pain but the waxer was very nice about it. I was very happy with the results too. Still, when I realized "man, I have to do this every two weeks" I almost cried again. What a way to realize what "becoming a woman" feels like. It got better but being 21 I'm still baffled at how much pain we put little girls through just to fit the normative.

My first experience with shaving: I didn’t know you had to take the thing off the razor and I spent about an hour trying to shave my legs but no hair was getting removed cause I had to take off the thing. I finally realized this later lol

Story time: So in pe class, we would all wear shorts and after a while, I realized that I was the only girl with hairy legs. I didnt like it so without watching any tutorials, without any experience, and without telling anyone, I shaved my legs while showering. I literally found a razor in there and thought that I would be fine. I showered and went to class thr next day with smooth legs. I loved the way my legs looked so I decided to continuously do it everytime even the littlest of hairs grew on my legs. Eventually, I shaved so often that I accidentally cut myself. That moment was scarred me and I didnt shave for a such a long time afterwards that I didnt shave until my legs looked the same way they did before I shaved for the first time

This is the only girl talk I missed from my mom. I used to shave DRY without exfoliating or in the shower without shaving cream. It was EXTREMELY painful and my legs would burn for days. My mom has naturally smooth skin and she doesn’t get those bump things on her legs (edit : so she could just dry shave or shave in the shower without using any product). I would’ve loved getting that gene from her but oh well, you can’t have everything you want. I asked her for a men’s razor and shaving cream but we can’t get shaving cream cause of covid and she said that men’s razors might be too harsh on my skin and honestly, I agree.

I actually landed my first serious relationship and current boyfriend (of now 3 years!) by slipping whilst shaving resulting in a badly cut leg! It was a shockingly deep cut, oozing out with blood which it ended up needing gluing at A&E. I felt the need to take a picture and put it on Facebook (don't ask me why) and he messaged me saying "nice leg haha" and it lead on from there haha! I dread the embarrassment of telling my children and grand children of how we met further down the line

The first time I shaved was when I was nine years old. We were having a swimming carnival and the night before I decided to shave my legs in secret. I stole my moms razer and my dads shaving cream and I began shaving. When I was finished my legs started burning and I then realized that I had about 500 cuts and scratches across my legs. I was really embarrassed the next morning at the swimming carnival. I stuck bandages across every single cut. I looked ridiculous and every one was asking me if I was ok. When I got in the water my cuts started burning, even though they were covered. My teacher had to call my mom and I had to leave the swimming pool.

Actually, i've never shaved my legs, (btw im 14) but they are almost completely hairless and they're soooo soft. Once, my friend touched my leg and she was like "your legs are so soft" "i've never shaved" "NO WAY".... I think im blessed

My first experience was in 6th grade and I was 11, I had a field trip very soon and I needed to wear shorts that day. (it was going to be I think 90+ degrees) And the day before I was alone, just got done showering and grabbed a razor. (It was a disposable one) Made my leg wet put a little shampoo on them and had a cup of water to rinse it off then started shaving. It was a great experience, I did a very good job and felt better afterwards. My legs were smooth and didn't need all that extra stuff (you can use it but like I said you really only need 3 things, Razor, water, and shampoo/conditioner). Had no cuts and just went with the flow. Mind you at this time my parents didn't trust me with a razor but that didn't make me stop trusting myself. This was my experience so tell me yours!

Extra tip: after exfoliating (if you choose to do so), place a hot towel or washcloth on the area you plan to shave. Let it sit for as long as you can stand it then remove it. It helps soften the hair follicles before you start for a smoother/less painful shave 👍🏾

I just shaved mine for the first time with a razor 20 minutes ago! I used to use an electric one, but it didn't get a close shave. 😋 I watched a quick tutorial by myself before hand, just to get the basics down. 🙃 It was hard to stand with my leg on the ledge in the shower 😑 so I only did a small part of my leg. I did it super gentle because I didn't want to cut myself, and I think being super cautious is the way to go the first time 😇🍓 I didn't even have to moisturize after because the shaving cream was super moisturizing, and I didn't get any rash or razor burn. 😊 I don't understand why some people think that pushing the razor into your leg helps any more, 😅 it's honestly kinda satisfying and pleasing once you finish! 💕 I can't wait to get better at this, I hope you have an amazing day or night to whoever is reading this!! 🍓😋😇

My leg hair is so annoying it literally comes out the day after I shave, it is so annoying cause I can wear shorts or dresses just the day I shave and than back to jeans. Because it is so hurtful shaving every day. I hope that recipe with sugar olive oil and lemon helps making my hair less dark at least.

We can use vaseline too it works. Step 1 : if your skin is dry you have to massage your skin with body oil or coconut oil.i prefer massaging coconut oil Step 2:after massaging with oil for 5 minutes you must apply vaseline or nivea cream that you use in winter's Step 3:shave it and after shaving gently wash the skin with water.thats it have a nice day 😊😊

And a girl in my class told me that if I shaved my legs every time I showered, my legs would grow longer; (fourth grader logic😂😂). So I went home that day and I was having a shower and I tried shaving my arm first and I guess I did it too hard and I actually put a long gash into my arm, so I started screaming and there was blood everywhere!! My dad came to see what happened and he called the ambulance and when they asked me how it happened I blamed it on my dog😂😂😂😂😂 that didn't work though, so I had to tell them the truth and they couldn't stop laughing🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂😂

story; my first time shaving, my favor was rlly old bc i wanted to try shaving without telling anyone. i took a razor out of the closet and i used it and i cut a big circle of skin off from my leg, and now i have a scar. the next week i was reaching for shampoo and a razor was right behind it and i finger met the blades and a big chunk on the tip of my finger is gone :) i'm having a wonderful experience with shaving :).

I spent an hour in the shower shaving my legs cos the hair had gotten so long

So I have an embarrassing story to tell 😬: So I decided to shave my legs by myself in the shower so I shaved and got out of the shower and I had a music lesson that day and I was wearing shorts. ( my mom usually shaves my legs for me but I did it myself that day.) So whenever I shave I feel really confident and just nice! So I got to the lesson and I noticed the guy kept staring at my knees so when I got in the car after the lesson I looked at my legs and one side of my leg was nice bare and smooth and nicely shaved! The other one was all hairy and I missed a TON of spots and my knee was all hairyyy 😬 I was so embarrassed and I had a new music teacher that day and he was kinda cute but not really. I'm so embarrassed and am never wearing shorts again!!!
