There's also the studio processing aspects of it. Think I read that they add a copy detuned 3 cents. Another copy tuned up 3 cents. Then there's high pass filter and EQ, etc. The Ozzy sound only starts with the vocal. Ends with all the other processing and harmony tracks. Pretty much true of all contemporary vocal recordings. One rarely hears a truly honest, straight vocal recording these days. But of course that has been going on since the days of Les Paul and slap back echo by tape machines.
@@RockYourBestVocals What are the artifacts through out but most prominent at the 9:57 mark? Delay trails? I thought a scratch keyboard part at first..... Love your content, btw!!!
thanks! I'm not using an 'effect' other than as described.. just a very nasally 'twang' by smiling and pushing as much air as possible through my nasal passage (without sacrificing tone)
@@RockYourBestVocals Still about effects. What effects would you setup for Ozzy? Sometimes it seems to have a quick delay, sometimes it seems like there are 2 tracks overlayed, but not much reverb.
@@fasgamboa I think he used a Leslie Speaker linked to his voice.. you can seach for some VSTs that mimicks that.. or search for ROTOR vst.. or something
I have always wondered what technique is being applied when people do that Dave Grohl voice? (I have even heard it called Fozzie Bear voice) I don’t think I have ever heard a singer define what is happening in the throat or palette to make that sound. Hitting high notes is sometimes easier if that is applied
Yes, totally agree hitting higher notes can be easier with the Fozzie Bear voice in my experience... I've also experienced the negative effect of 'closing off' too much when doing that, so I've had to keep that in check
Great question! I’m not sure, but usually the chorus is doubled (most singers/tracks), and I believe ozzy may have used chorus in verse (which can sound like doubling) or maybe even doubled. If you’re wondering for your own production, you may want to play with either/both individually and together to see what sounds “best” to you
hey king can you make a video how to make Brutal vocal or how to sing like 'hayko cepkin' ? (hayko capkin is a turkish musician making hard vocals like brutal growl or something and ı wanna sound like him and ıf you make a video of how to make growl/brutal its too much means to me I wıil happy)
Indeed - I'm 'guilty' of closing off to much in my career and this caused me problems over time with so much tension in my throat - until I found out how to release that tension with some modifications to the resonators and pathway
m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-phuaeXjWpSQ.html These guys have a clinical approach to mimickry, which is potentially very useful. I like that you try to mimick other voices. I think it is a great way to learn about our own voice. I knew a guy who could sound exactly like Ozzy. But it’s practically so unique that you could never make a record with it. That’s the “crazy like a fox” part of guys like Ozzy, and Tom Petty. They are unique.
Just imagine if Sharon was lording it over Ozzy himself by booking too many gigs in a row, what she did over the years to all the other members of Ozzy band.
