Simon's little wrapping the line around the rod trick makes the rod SO MUCH easier to see while he's demonstrating the stroke. Particularly on these RU-vid videos where the video compression always makes water look terrible.

Easily the BEST video I've seen to understand this cast. Spey fishing is awesome but requires learning new techniques. Would love to spend the day learning from Simon in person !

Excellent instructions. I had an excellent guide/instructor and he spent a good amount of time showing me the blown anchors and crashed anchors, bloody L’s Etc. Watching your video reminded me of his lessons.

The subtle element Simon is perfect at is the relaxed cast. I always have to remind myself that brute force is not the best casting method. That alone made this a great video for me. thanks!

Excellent points to remember when doing the Snap T! I like to do the Snake Roll Cast when the water is running from left to right.

Very good instruction, even though I feel safe with my 2 hand casting it’s always good to repeat. Very nice camera angles makes it easy to follow and understand. Thank you Rio and Simon.

Before seeing this casting technique, I always had a little trouble swinging the fly line if I changed direction but after seeing this video tutorial, I couldn't wait to try it. Thank you very much 🙏😁 Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Wow you made that look so effortless, graceful and smooth. Amazing how little power your actually using, besides the “snap”, the definition of letting the rod do the work! Would you use the same cast on a switch rod? When I am streamer fishing with my one hand rod in tight alleys, small rivers with trees or without room to back cast I definitely have my line doing the same principles. Let it run out downstream, pull it in and roll it to my up stream side, then shoot it out from the water or take one mini false cast and unload everything.

Thanks Simon for the excellent tips on this great cast. I have´nt used a twohanded for 12-13 years, but this season I reached for it in the closet, and I´ve been away twice so far this season and your video really was great help. Once I really thought about the things you said, it worked just fine, so thanks a lot!

This is great, but it would be helpful if some mention was made of 1) what cast to use when there IS downstream wind, and 2) what cast to use when you're on the other side of the river. I imagine you'd want an arsenal of casts so that you could fish in any situation, no?

Here in Nevada on the Truckee River we have a prevailing wind out of the West. This puts the wind blowing downstream normally. What is your recommended castor this situation?

Why would you do a snap t instead of a single Spey cast?
@truthteller8567
@truthteller8567 2 года назад
Well,,, I've been out and had a practice with a Skagit line and it seems that the advantage of the snap t over the single Spey is that the snap t gives you a longer sweep upwards to the D loop and it seems to cast further more easily 🤷‍♂️
