I think most of these guys wouldn't be able to tell the difference between someone with social anxiety disorder, and someone that was lying.

It seems like these behavior may be attributed to feeling guilty of deception rather that the deception itself.

It's also important to note that sociopaths and other people who may be emotionally or mentally impaired will not react with the tell tale signs of lying. This is because, at least for sociopaths, there is no emotional reaction to the lie they are telling. Hence why so many sociopaths become lawyers and politicians.

So many of these symptoms can be brought on by just being nervous, or just impulsively. Forget skittish people; I do stuff like that sometimes just as a tick, or something to do, and I see ample others around me in a given day indulging their own personal ticks. Some people's brains just "leak" all the time.

It depends on the situation. If you generally know that person is shy or nervous you can assume right away that person is not lying. But if it is someone you dont know it can be hard to tell. The best you can do is to get to know that person better.

The only way to prove if a person's lying is to prove inconsistencies between the person's behavior and what they're telling you now.Also you can prove someone is lying by proving inconsistent statements.A person is lying if what they're saying now is inconsistent to what they said in the past and there's no reason for what they're saying to have changed.Also a person's lying if what they're telling you now is inconsistent with what you already know to be the truth.

the act of lying is more subtle than someone hiding something when under scrutiny or questioning because it can be implemented within everyday life whereas acting is an action of choices developed via script and thought out beforehand but likewise your actions still have an affect. but hiding something is different from lying because something hidden must always be found by nature. a lie is something that isn't naturally exposed unless acted upon through an investigative procedure.

I'm lying by telling blunt truth right away. Everybody are so stunt that no one is believing me, then I tell them a lie and they are happy that they are safe.

Exactly. If you`re lying about something and I overstate that you are hiding something, even if you don`t want to, even If what I caught was just a glympse, you will start to react because you can`t stop thinking about it. So yeah, I`m right. BANG LOGIC WINS AGAIN.

What about the left and right stare, when you trying to remember... left is remembering (right side of the brain is more connected to memories) looking right is lying (using imagination to produce a memory)

None of that takes into account someone meta-gaming, convincing themselves they are telling the truth, or being able to generate a character and events on the fly. Appealing to questioners emotions and psychological frailties that they themselves might not be aware of, using your appearance to your advantage and playing up someone who looks like they are so nervous about being caught that they must be telling the truth they are just so afraid of being caught they can't sit still. There are so many more ways to lie this doesn't even come close.

A study from 2012 titled The Eyes Don’t Have It: Lie Detection and Neuro-Linguistic Programming found that the movement of the Eyes doesn't show lying.

I remember watching a show called "lied to me" back when I was in 8th grade. Learned about the eye movements bit and I jokingly asked my girlfriend if she was cheating on me. She did the eye thing, but I paid it no mind. Turns out she was actually cheating on me. With three of my no longer "friends" lol these tips are spot on!

What I dislike about this one is that I often do these things regardless of lying or not. And when it comes to personal relationships, I think the focus should be put on creating a trusting relationship rather one where you constantly try to find out if the other part is lying. What if the person doesn't trust you with the information? Is it always wrong to lie?

Good luck catching a pshychopath.. you can't detect lies, without deeply knowing all the different personality types. Not everyone is the same in expressions of facial or body language. We would want everyone to be the same, so we can be lazy and judge everyone by the same standard.. but humans are very different from each other.

If I say: Don't think about the color red. You're thinking about the color red. Even if you believe you can NOT think about red because it's your mind and you think about whatever you want, even so you're thinking about red. That's how micro expressions work, thats why their not expressions, because the expression is a lie, is you trying not to think about red. But everytime you think about red, and those are the "tells".

I have a problem that when I'm nervous for whatever reason sometimes I'm gonna laugh or smile. So most of the time, when someone asks me at home if I'm telling them the truth, I'm gonna smile and they think I did it. I also don't like making eye contact even when I'm talking with someone about normal topics. I would probably be screwed in a legal situation then. :S

Firstly because we are humans, not robots. We don't feel one emotion at a time. You can be nervous, shy and angry all at the same time. And all for different reasons. The point here is not how to spot a LIAR but how to spot that he/she is HIDING something. You can find out that someone is shy, angy, disgusted or nervous, but you can only ASSUME why. The real reason of why someone is feeling that way is out of our reach.

This Video is great , although , I need to ask them that , I got shy , sweaty , and my legs are moved in occasional situation particularly in the stress , such as during examination , how we consider these signs of lie , it is a symptomatic response of my body .

I agree you , although , the success , honest people may are not immune against these behavioral abnormalities , therefore , does they consider , to do not oppressed them . So , prefer to catch , or to take the positive in most the occasion , this my opinion

The 2nd verbal cues violates God's command: be slow to speak & quick to hear. Sometimes it's good to REPEAT a person's question because people often speak with OPEN ENDED (or misleading) questions. Repeating the question allows you the wisdom to siphon it & determine if the question itself is with deceptive intent.

I once came upon a co-workers in a darkened conference room, thinking I had just woken him up. He was red-faced and I felt bad for him. When I went further into the room, I saw a female cowrker facing the wall fussing with her clothes. I then put 2 and 2 together. I sent her an email to put her at ease saying, Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. She then denied anything had happened between them and that it wasn't what it looked like. BS! I never trusted a word she said after that.

err not really, there's so many different kinds of Schizophrenia not even the doctors who diagnose patients fully understand it's real neurological origins within the brain. it's too complex, and this kind of research of the brain is actually in a state of flux within most health organisations and scientific communities, we simply don't know enough about Schizo patients despite pretending so much that we do.

yeah but logic is the opposite of lying and vice versa so you actually LOSE. To lie - no matter what kind is something normally made up of your imagination to manipulate a situation - some say that is logical in itself but no, it's illogical, especially when the liar comes to a regretful realisation of his/her choices- this creates negativity - again, something that contradicts logic because logic is a progressive step.
