Also said by Augustine - "Woman does not possess the image of God in herself but only when taken together with the male who is her head, so that the whole substance is one image. But when she is assigned the role as helpmate, a function that pertains to her alone, then she is not the image of God. But as far as the man is concerned, he is by himself alone the image of God just as fully and completely as when he and the woman are joined together into one."

You clearly don’t know anything about Roman history. Christians were a threat, not because they were loving, which they were, but because they posed an opposition to the state. They said that their followers shouldn’t follow the roman state or Roman gods, but instead only Jesus. You’d be surprised how little it takes for someone to kill another. Dangerous praying to Fake Name JESUS! As a matter of fact, the name ‘Jesus’ did not even exist in the English language 400 years ago-as evidenced by the fact that it was not recorded in the original 1611 King James Bible. But let's dissect that name anyway as that has come to be the accepted name of the Messiah today we need to address it. If the first part of the name 'Ιη' (Ie) comes from 'Iehovah' following the Jewish superstition not to use Yahuah thereby using Elohim in the vowel points resulting in ignorance of the name Jehovah. The Century Bible, Volume 1, pages 90-91 Sometime after the return from the Captivity, and before the beginning of the Christian Era, the Yahdaim (Jews) came to believe that the Holy Name Yahuah was too sacred to be uttered on ordinary occasions. It was said to be pronounced by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement. At other times, when any one read or quoted aloud from what is called the Old Testament, the word "Adonay","Lord," was usually substituted for Yahuah, and similarly the LXX (Septuagint Version) has Kurios, the Vulgate dominus, and the e.v. lord, where the Hebrew has Yahuah. Hebrew was originally written without vowels, but when the "vowel points" were added, the vowels of "Adonay" or "Elohim" were written with Yahuah, as a direction that these words were to be read instead of the word whose consonants were Yahuah; thus we find the combinations YeHoWaH and YeHoWiH. At the Reformation, the former being the more usual, was sometimes used as the Name of the (Mighty One) of Israyl, and owing to ignorance of its history was misread as "Jehovah," a form which has established itself in English, but does not give the pronunciation of the Holy Name it represents. Therefore the prefix of the name Je or (Ie) is in error. But does the suffix 'σους' (sous) mean 'saves' or 'salvation' in the Greek of the New Testament period? No. We know for a fact that "Iesous" was not then the proper way to translate the "intent" of the name given the Messiah that ‘Yahuah is salvation’ even in Greek or Latin. The Greek word for "salvation" is Strong’s entry 4991 soterion it is not sous. Strong's Number: 4992 soterion, adjective. Meaning saving, bringing salvation he who embodies this salvation, or through whom God is about to achieve it in the hope of (future) salvation So if the translators were even true to their own language it would not have been translated "Jesus" or "Iesous" but rather "Iasoterion". It must be obvious by this point where the suffix "seous" came from. Jesus holds to the Greek tradition of naming people after their pagan god of the Pantheon… Zeus. Why did the translator use "sous" instead of "soteria"? Greek naming conventions give glory to Zeus It should be noted at this point that the Greeks had a similar naming convention as did the Hebrews. Where the Hebrews used “YAH” in the construction of their names giving glory to Yahuah, the Greeks ended names and cities using “sous/sus/us” after their own god Zeus. Take for example the name of Julius Caesar “Gaius Julius” or the name of the Roman Emperor Constantine who literally created Christianity “Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus”. The suffix “us” was added to Greek and Roman names to give glory to Zeus where Yah was added to Hebrew names to give glory to Yahuah. Jesus is just such a Greek name like all Greek names ending in "us" that gives glory to Zeus! Dictionary of Christian Lore and Legend “It is known that the Greek name endings with sus, seus, and sous were attached by the Greeks to names and geographical areas as means to give honor to their supreme deity, Zeus." "This name of the true Messiah, Yahusha, being Hebrew, was objectionable to the Greeks and Romans, who hated the Judeans (Jews), and so it was deleted from the records, and a new name inserted. Yahusha was thus replaced by Ie-Sous (hail Zeus), now known to us as Jesus." Iesous in Greek So Yahusha is English for the Hebrew name of the Messiah (anointed King of Israel) and Jesus is the name of the Greek “savior” or Christos. It is that simple. But what does “Iesous” mean in Greek. It has no meaning in Hebrew; as it is not a Hebrew word. In Greek, “Iesous” literally translated means “Hail Zeus”. The name “Jesus” didn’t even exist until the 4th Century and was a later derivative of the late Latin Esus (pagan female god of salvation which later became Hesus or Hail Zeus then when the "I" grew a tail and became "J" it was Jesus. The Origin of Christianity by A.B. Traina "It is simply amazing to think that all these years, hundreds of years, mankind has been calling the Saviour by the wrong name!! It's hard to give up the name of Jesus because it's so deeply ingrained in us and much has been said and done in that name." Gospel of The Kingdom True Names and Title Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley 1931 - Ohio USA "In the 1611 KJ New Testament the name Yahusha appeared originally wherever the Messiah was spoken of. Yahusha means “Yahuah is Salvation”. Later the Messiah's name was replaced with Iesus (Greek) which later in the 1600's it became Jesus starting with the new English letter "J" which was introduced at that time. Further, the Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon." Gospel of The Kingdom True Names and Title Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley 1931 - Ohio USA 80 We see in historical documents that the name “Jesus” did not even come into existence until the 1600’s when the letter “J” was introduced into our English language. So the name “Jesus” is only around 400 years old! The Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon. "Jesus” is a transliteration of a Latin name only ONE letter off “Ioesus” pronounced hey-sus - which has no meaning in Hebrew, but in Latin it means “Hail Zeus”. If Yahusha’s name had been transliterated into our language, it would have been Joshua. If the name was treated properly using the compound naming convention Yahuah intended it would be YAH(weh)SHUA shortened to “Yahusha” using the short contracted form maintaining the meaning of the name and fulfilling prophecy that the Messiah “came in the NAME of Yahuah”. If the name was handled properly in Greek by the uninspired pagan scribes, it would hold true to the “meaning” of the name as given by the Angel to Joseph and Mary; then “shua” or salvation would have been translated “soterion or soter” not “sous”. So we see a gross mis-handling of the Messiah’s name at best but when you look back in history we see a Hellinization of the name with the intent to give glory to the pagan god Zeus. So both the prefix of "Ie" and the suffix of "sous" are in error and are mistranslations of the Hebrew name Yah and shua. If the Greek translators handled the Hebrew name properly it would have been translated into Iasotera which would be Yah-savior in Greek. In the 21st century we have no need to trace the Messiah's name through pagan Rome. We, today, can simply translate it directly from Hebrew to English leaving out all the transliteration errors going from Latin/Greek and all the English variations. That name is Yahusha… directly from יהושע Luke 13 35 “Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of Yahuah.’"

The Word of God proclaims, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” (1 Timothy 2:11-12). In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women. This is a result of the way mankind was created and the way in which sin entered the world (1 Timothy 2:13-14). God, through the apostle Paul, restricts women from serving in roles of teaching and/or having spiritual authority over men. Ideally, that's also what one should do when JOINING a church. It can also be very indicative of what sort of culture is prevalent in that church; Whether it's leadership is open to discourse and questions or whether they have an autocratic leadership style that must not be questioned under any circumstances. I for my part would rather be in a church under the former kind of leadership, even if there are some (non-essential ! ) disagreements on theology than the latter.

The problem is that liberals know how to use the right terms to passify conservative Christians all the while using an alternative definition of those terms. I just left a church where the pastor had been a student of RC Sproul's when in seminary but would quote the likes of Rob Bell and other far left liberals who reject the historic doctrines RC Sproul taught. Listening to this way almost made me dizzy as one minute he was quoting RC Sproul or Augustine and then it was Tim Keller, Rob Bell, Bill Hybills or some other far left pastor. He appears to be so open minded that nothing is off limits to him.

But there are millions of different interpretations. The interpretations change based on what is “the norm” for that culture. The bible was WRITTEN to begin with under those same circumstances. Christians today will interpret stoning children as “metaphor” or “no longer applicable.” Frankly, if you aren’t one of those Christians, I think you need to be asking yourself questions to do with morality. The bible was intentionally written to be interpreted in many ways so it can resonate with a wider audience, despite also ruling through fear.

@Aisha Noor No one is justifying atrocities done by many white people. If no one has said it, I will apologize to you for the hurt and pain you and your family is carrying. And I will do so even though most of my own ancestors weren’t even in the country until long after slavery and Jim Crow and segregation were ended. The few distant relatives I do have include one who died fighting to end slavery, and another worked in the underground railroad to save escaped slaves. None of my relatives owned slaves. But rather than being defensive, I will acknowledge that inexcusable harm was indeed caused to your family, and your pain is real and needs to be acknowledged. And yet you are here claiming your post reflects Christianity. I will also ask how your comment reflects Jesus? How does this represent the Jesus who opened salvation to all people of all races by dying to save them? The Jesus who said of the very people KILLING him, “Forgive them, for they no not what they do”? Where is forgiveness in your heart? You are allowing your pain to take you down a self-destructive road. Matthew 7:1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Holding to unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. It only hurts you. It does not free you, does not bring healing, and will never lead you to becoming more like Jesus.

From my perspective, fundamentalists and evangelicals share a common problem. It is easy enough for a person to say he takes the Bible “literally”. But every person I have ever met who claimed to take the Bible literally has simply agreed with what he was taught about which parts of the Bible are to be taken literally and which parts are not. Such people manage to place enough emphasis on the parts they take literally that they manage (or at least seem to manage) to ignore the parts they don’t take literally. In the sixteenth century, the puritans took such Bible texts as Galatians 3:29 literally. "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (See also Matt. 3:9, Rom. 9:6-8, Rom. 11, Gal. 3:7 & 9, Eph. 2:11-19) The puritans who aspired to build a puritan society in North America thought of themselves as Israelites and thought of North America (or at least their own colonies in North America) as the new Israel. They also applied the phrase “new Jerusalem” to their concept of an ideal society in North American, apparently not taking literally the description in Revelation 21:2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” In their quest to rid themselves of the doctrines of the Roman Church, the New England puritans were diligent to take the instructions of Exodus 16:23 literally “...To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.” The New England puritans did no baking and no cooking on Sunday, having prepared their sabbath meals beforehand. Apparently they did not take literally the instruction in Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” The instruction about preparing meals before the sabbath day was in the context of the giving of the manna (Ex. 16) so there could hardly have been any question about which day of the week there was a double portion of manna or on which day the Lord rested, i.e. the day of the week when no manna appeared. In the nineteenth century, the law of the conservation of matter (aka the conservation of mass) was taught as a “scientific principle”. In an attempt to reconcile the creation account in Genesis with the law of the conservation of matter, Joseph Smith Jr. taught that the God of Genesis “created” things on Earth but only in the sense of rearranging existing matter. In a manner reminiscent of the theology of the puritans, Smith taught that believers (i.e. his followers) constituted modern Israel but made a distinction between them and “the Jews”. As I understand their teaching, LdS (Mormons) in the twenty-first century teach that the modern political nation in the Middle East should more properly be called Judea (because it is populated primarily by the “Jewish” descendants of the southern of the kingdoms that split after the reign of Solomon). It was also in the nineteenth century that John Nelson Darby developed a way to deny the “literalism” of the puritans with regard to the identity of Israel. While not explicitly denying that the church is “spiritual” Israel, Darby developed the doctrine that the promises to Israel and the prophecies about Israel should be understood as applying to “literal” Israel, i.e. the “literal” descendants of the patriarch, Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel. Beginning in the middle of the twentieth century, fiat creationists could point to Colossians 1:12-17 as evidence that matter and energy are interchangeable and that, if the God of Genesis 1 was the source of unlimited power (energy), he could literally create matter by converting that energy into matter. “Giving thanks unto the Father...Who hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:...For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” In the twenty-first century, I think most people in the United States tend to understand the word “fundamentalist” and “fundamentalism” as relating more to enthusiasm for a particular interpretation of the Bible or the Qur’an than to the “literalism” that may have been part of the early development of such an interpretation. When that kind of religious enthusiasm is combined with enthusiasm for a particular political doctrine, it produces something about which many people can get excited - an us-vs-them mentality. Maybe, instead of trying to divide Christianity into opposing camps of “conservative Christianity” and “progressive Christianity” (or denying that progressives are ‘“really” Christians), we should consider a third approach to this subject. To the conservatives of the sixteenth century, Luther’s doctrines were heretical because they were progressive. To the English of the eighteenth century, the Wesley brothers doctrines were heretical because they were progressive. Maybe, instead of insisting that a particular Bible interpretation is “historical”, we should encourage people to study the history of the Christian church so each can decide for himself when a particular emphasis originated and the context of such origins. Example: Dispensationalist/futurist eschatology is popular among Christians who think of themselves as conservative. They think it is THE historical method of Bible interpretation. In fact, not only did that interpretation of Bible prophecy not exist before the nineteenth century and was not widely taught before the twentieth century, it is in some ways antithetical to both the methods and eschatology of practically all protestants of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Be careful. If you appeal to what you consider to be historical Christian doctrine, you may find that you have painted yourself into a corner.

I think heresy is more appropriate. The people who practice heresy are heretics. Thees heretics want to delude themselves thinking they can eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and demand that God should let them into the Kingdom on their terms. Thees retched creatures have fallen to the level of hairless apes. As Christians we must remember the church policy in Titus 3:10-11 concerning waywardness in the faith.

If I had not come into Christianity through Reformed theology I would gone over to the Progressive camp myself. Today I see so many people drawn to it, because it speaks to their sense of social and economic justice, as witness Pope Francis and his encyclical Amoris Laetitia, which contains many good things. (Watch Bishop Robert Barron speaking on Amoris Laetitia on RU-vid.) I came to faith through teachers like Francis Schaeffer, Os Guinness, R.C. Sproul, A.D. Carson, John MacArthur, John Piper, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Gresham Machen, B.B. Warfield. So the Progressive heresies made no impact on me, though there are many with these views on the Patheos website. Give me Young, Restless and Reformed any time. Thanks for your vlog, Alisa. I understand that Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton attended a Progressive church, and that says much about them.

I've recently become aware of Alisa Childers, who is making a career of warning people about the dangers of "Progressive Christianity." I will assume the best of her, that she genuinely believes that progressive Christianity is a danger and she has a moral responsibility to steer people away. However, she is bearing false witness against her fellow believers. From what I've seen of her work, she 1) appears to be deeply unaware of the field historical theology; 2) mis-defines "historic, orthodox Christianity" solely around American, evangelical theology, not engaging with other traditions; and 3) leans far too much on fear-mongering to make her point. This ultimately leads to her dramatically misrepresenting others' views. Her some off-the-cuff responses to her 5 supposed danger signs. 1. **Alternative View of Scripture.** While it's true that a few progressive churches altogether abandon an authoritative view of the Bible, this is not typically a defining characteristic. What Childers fails to mention is that a me-centered/individualistic meaning-making approach most typically happens in conservative/evangelical streams. The question "What does this passage mean to you?" has shown up in far too many Bible study booklets. Historically speaking, denying absolutely any human influence on Scripture and insisting on the notion "inerrancy" started to become popular in the late-1800/early-1900s. It's the new kid on the theological block. While progressive writers/pastors/churches are willing to wrestle with Scripture's imperfections, they do this out of a high view of God and a desire to actually do what Scripture affirms. 2. The "feelings are emphasized over facts" point is just laughable. Go find any church or preacher that denies the seriousness of covid, systemic racism, or claims that Trump won the election. They would all claim that they're "historic," "orthodox," and "conservative," and yet they are the ones who have lost the grip on reality. One conservative writer once said we should know that homosexuality is wrong because of the "gag factor." How about that for emphasizing feelings over facts. Churches in the charismatic and Pentecostal traditions put a larger emphasis on personal experience and I am quite sure they would bristle at being called progressive.
 3. **Essential Christian doctrines are open for reinterpretation.** This has been the case for all Christian traditions since the beginning. So-called conservatives are absolutely guilty of this as well. For instance, some complementarians (those who believe that women cannot hold leadership roles in the church) advocate for a hierarchy within the Trinity, despite the fact that this denies historic orthodoxy. As mentioned above, the view of biblical inerrency was created in early 1900s as a response to biblical scholarship. Concepts like the rapture, "scientific" 6-day creationism, and 7-year tribulation were invented in 1800s. Moreover, a refusal to reinterpret "essential Christian doctrines" is what has kept anti-semitism and anti-Black racism alive in the church for so long. If you follow the history of the conservative, evangelical movement in the United States, you'll soon realize that what counts as "essential Christian doctrine" is a constantly moving target. 4. **Historic terms are redefined.** Again, this section demonstrates her lack of knowledge in the field of historic theology. Properly defining (and redefining terms) must continually happen as each generation inherits the faith. And, again, conservatives are more guilty of this than most. Biblical authority, the second coming, the Trinity, and biblical gender roles have all received brand new definitions in recent decades as conservatives continue to shift their faith around to fit their culture. 5. **The Gospel shifts from sin and redemption to social justice.** This section shows me that Childers has not actually spent enough time listening to so-called progressive preachers. One of the ways that the Gospel **deals** with sin and redemption is through social justice. These topics are rarely pitted against each other, except, ironically, **by conservatives.** If the Gospel is true, if sin is as bad as Scripture says, then pursuing social justice is a necessary response. It is an inaccurate caricature to say that progressive Christians don't talk about sin. Rather it is progressives' shifting of emphasis from solely individualistic sins to social and communal sins that is being misconstrued or misunderstood. If you want to arm yourself against this sort of historically and theologically anemic propaganda, I'd suggest the following: Across the Spectrum, Greg Boyd and Paul Eddy The Mosaic of Christian Belief, Roger E. Olson

Through my church's high school youth group i made many friends, and learned the same things a conservative church taught their youth groups ( I learned this later). I only realized there was something wrong with my church when I got involved in politics. The sermons were far too political, and some things were just not true ( when it came to current events). I couldn't take it anymore and left. Now I'm looking for a new church. My parents said when they first joined the church in the late 90s they were mostly moderate conservative Democrats. Jesus(Rev19:13) The scriptures(the bible) have a purpose, ultimately to reveal Jesus who is "The Word of God", YHWH "Our Father", and "The HolySpirit". I have no issue holding "The Word of God" has all authority... but to express Biblical authority usurps Jesus authority and power of preservation of scripture and its sufficiency for us by YHWH(God). I don't know anyone who idolizes a Bible, but it shouldn't be a question for anyone who professes belief in Jesus that the Bible is his word, for Jesus himself affirmed the authority and infallibility of the scriptures. The idea that the Bible somehow usurps the authority of Jesus isn't correct either. The Bible contains Jesus' teaching. If God is the same today, yesterday, and forever, and if Jesus is the Word of God, then the Bible will always contain the true instructions of Jesus to his followers.

To claim that a Christian can know God without a Biblical foundation for the relationship and wellspring of truth and knowledge is folly. A person doing that would be relying upon their own intellect and feelings to guide them, which will end in nothing good. You cite branches of Christianity which disagreed on which areas of scripture should be emphasized, but they shared the understanding that scripture was infallible.

Despite how favourable this comment section is to the presenter, there are far more Christians out there who will take/give umbridge to what's been said. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle-I am telling the truth, I am not lying-and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

Don't pick and choose what you want to believe, if you want to go the route of "Biblical Christianity". * According to 1 Corinthians 11, 2-16, you're dishonoring your head (ie Husband/God, depending on if you're married) because you're not wearing something to cover your head. * Paul himself says women should not teach or assume authority over a man (1 Timothy 2:12), but you're making a video to teach people about danger signs of progressive Christianity. * That necklace? You're not supposed to be wearing it (1 Peter 3:3). If you're married, are you wearing a wedding ring? * When you meet with fellow Christians, do you kiss them? (I Thessalonians 5:26) If you're going to posit that the Bible is more than simply "Inspired like a good sermon", then you need to obey *all* the commandments the Apostles left, not just the convenient ones. Paul told Timothy, that "all Scripture is God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16), so if you're holding to that level of respect, you can't disregard verses that aren't comfortable.

This might be stepping on a lot of toes, but another sign to watch for is an incremental disengagement from traditional, biblical-based hymnody and teaching and into a more Christian contemporary, rock type, “performer” centered worship experience. These typically have a “stage” rather than a pulpit. The traditional still gets the token nod, but is relegated to a less central position in church life. I found that churches like this, segregating services and the entire church culture, ultimately apostatize.

Good points. You just described the so-called "reformation."

@@MichaelTheophilus906 No offense, but not even close. What about the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Luther disagreed on the manner, but still believed in the Eucharist. The Gospel narratives of the last supper...this "is" my body...this "is" my blood, John ch. 6, manna, Bread of Life, Bethlehem (house of bread), 1 Cor 11:17-34, etc. It is not my intent to create strife, especially on Christmas Eve. I was tempted by the irony. That being said, the same battle is being fought in the Catholic Church. We conservatives are not happy about the fake Catholics like Biden and Pelosi. God help us. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Come Lord Jesus! God bless you!

@@MichaelTheophilus906 You’re funny. Isn't the Bible the inspired Word of God? Shouldn't it be taken literally? So much for Sola Scriptura. I have learned that watching out for what is not being said from the pulpit can be just as important as hearing what is being said from the pulpit. In some cases what is left out is the key issue.

So true and it starts with knowing what is in the Bible. I always try to listen to the pulpit sermon in relation to my understanding of the Bible. If something doesn't jive, I'll go back to the Bible to make sure either way. Many times the preacher is wrong but there are times when my thinking was wrong too.

@@kevinerose I remember my freshman intro to theology class professor. He denied everything from miracles to Resurrection to the Holy Spirit. I asked him in class one day what people say when he preaches this sort of thing from the pulpit. And his response was he would never say those things from the pulpit - didn't want to disturb anyone's faith. He was a wolf and sheep's clothing obviously.

I want to validate Alisa's perspective here as I believe she's really trying to live out her faith in the way that makes the most sense for her. But please, for the love of God, do your own research anytime you come across anything or anyone saying what Alisa is warning about, because the people who are making these "progressive" claims have valid perspectives too. Don't let anyone convince you that their interpretation of any particular topic is enough to not do any of your own further research regarding any questions you may have. For myself and many others in the "progressive" Christian space, we find ourselves here because of the questions and concerns that have arisen throughout our unique faith journeys. In my opinion, the real warning to be heeded is anyone trying to convince you that you don't need to do your own research if you "see any warning signs" as Alisa seems to be trying to do here. I'm not saying she doesn't encourage people to do their own research, but I worry many people will unconsciously take that away from this video because she's already assuming "progressive" Christianity is bad by giving warning signs. Alisa, I mean no disrespect, but I just worry that the message behind this video will contribute to "progressive" Christians being othered and result in less good-faith dialogue.

Matthew 24 about the end times we are living in warns 3 times to watch out for false prophets. More than likely church is not preaching the true. Read your Bible and seek God yourself

How long is a 'time' and when did the 'end times' start and the middle time end? How long do you wait before you'd recant that belief that we are in the end times?

Thank you for reflecting the feelings of my heart in this video. I find it very difficult to be a young Christian woman right now---my peers pride themselves in their progressiveness and all I can seek to counteract their wrong definition of Christian "love" is the truth I find for myself in the Bible. I recently left a progressive church but am now left searching and feeling a bit on my own (as well as with my husband). We are overall disappointed in today's churches and their dangerous game of trying to fit worldliness in the church.

bringing the love of God without God himself is like giving people fish without teaching them how to fish.

Isn’t that what Jesus did, when he took those loaves of bread and those fish and multiplied it into thousands of rations? Why didn’t he teach them how to fish instead of just feeding them?

I'm not a Progressive Christian. However, after studying Judaism and Christianity, reading the Tanakh and KJV, NIV, NLT Bibles cover to cover several times over, and studying context, the idea that the devil has horns, pitchfork, and Hell is burning with flames is clearly metaphor used by Jesus comparing what the people understand as Molech and burning of children and criminals in the land of fire in Israel. Jesus compared the most savage death as well as the shame of O.T. people being burned dead or alive to ashes and not buried properly with their ancestors, as the worst insult and ''hell'' that could be imagined before the concept of eternal salvation was officially preached by Jesus Christ. So no, there is no evidence that the Hollywood version of ''hell'' is what some Evangelical Christians teach, i.e. literal burning of flesh? For eternity. Hell is eternal spiritual torment and regret of not being one with our family and savior and God's kingdom.
