Just a few months ago some progressive "Christians" have come in here to comment on this years old video. And in typical cultist fashion, these progressives fail to: (a) understand the Gospel, (b) embrace Jesus (c) actually listen to Alisa There's no "old faith" as they disingenuously say, and progressive leaders do not save the Faith of a Christian (they save some people's mistaken and opportunistic view of Jesus and His Words). Scripture is not enough for progressives, for some reason. And they seek comfort in a belief system which "harmonises" their everyday life, with their mundane goals and their ideology-based worldview. Amazing how human beings can find so many ways to delusion.

How come you guys always blame the victim? If someone leaves the church because of abuse or scandal you can't just say "they weren't following Jesus in the first place". This is a cop out, it is unloving, and just another way of saying "it can't be our fault. We're good people". Stop doing this please. We need to clean house and quit tolerating sin and abuse in our spiritual leaders. And leave judgement of those who flee abuse and hypocrisy to the Lord, who alone truly understands them. allowing people who were openly living habitually sinful lives to lead worship isn't something new- it's been going on for decades- apparently, some churches and organizations are more concerned with getting the most musically talented people up front than they are about the character of the individuals- back in the early 80s, when there was agreement even in the ,ost liberal of the mainline denoms that all sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman was sin, it was well known thrioughout the community that there was an openly and practicing gay man playing piano and leading worship in a local UMC church- when pastors from nearby local churches went to the pastor of the UMC and asked him about it he said that he knew he was a practicing homosexual but he chose "the best man for the job" - he hired him because he had more musical knowledge and could play the piano better than any of the other candidates - confronting the pastor did no good- though he knew it was wrong, he continued to let the man lead worship anyway, because he didn't want to risk havng to put someone who had a heart for God but was not a professional musician up front...
Such good advice to all churches. This will create more engagement and retention of your members. In today's ever changing technology world where information is very accessible, I'm sure many christians and non christians attending a service will have questions relating to the sermons. I believe christians and leaders should have the humilty and wisdom to answer their questions. Heb 10:24-25.

Alisa, you mentioned that progressives are claiming that Christians didn't see abortion was wrong until the 70's. I would like to correct you that it isn't that Christians didn't see abortion was wrong until the 70's, but Americans didn't care if abortion was wrong or not because prior to the 70's, white Americans believed that minorities would be the ones that would get an abortion because the vast majority of minorities in America were poor. By making abortion available to everyone, the poor would choose not to have children because they can't afford to provide for them. White Americans thought that minorities will eventually kill each other off through abortion. It was only in the 70's that Americans realized that it was the white women who were having abortions more than any group. That's when the Republicans sounded the alarm throughout America that "abortion is murder". At the rate that white women were getting abortions, whites will become the minority in a few generations. So the pro-life movement was really about preserving the white race rather than saving all unborn babies.
The social gospel that dominates the pulpit betrays an abdication of biblical theology. Cherry picking a handful of verses to support a narrative isn't preaching God's Word in fullness or in Truth. Naturally, I want to challenge the speaker on a number of points but it's rare that I get satisfactory biblically supported answers.

I totally agree that pastors and church leaders need to give opportunity for people in the church to ask questions and share doubts. I’m not sure that the Sunday morning teaching time is the best time or the best forum for this discussion though. Many “searcher friendly” and liberal churches are incorporating this type of question / answer discussion into the Sunday morning worship service, often in a very casual manner that does not contribute to worship of God. There are many other ways to encourage questions and come back with thoughtful, biblical responses. Allowing attenders to submit questions afterwards (question box or by phone or email) and responding likewise or having a midweek teaching response could be an option.
Alisa and team, consider looking at the Estuary Protocol for creating this kind of space. CRC minister Paul Vanderklay, with his own YT channel, is an advocate of this program (which is not under the CRC denomination, as such). The idea of estuary being an environment where salt and fresh water mix.
This ideology sounds like a little of the enlightened movement, mixed with universalism, with a pinch of social justice and psychology! Stick to the simple gospel given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ, to go out and make deciples in all the nations. Movements, and that's exactly what this is, is NOT biblical.

Reciting creeds and confessions is not enough to identify with Christ or true believers. I know of people who recite the Apostles Creed but deny the incarnation of Christ (to them "born of a virgin" simply means Mary was young, never married before marrying Joseph) or deny the creation of everything by God out of nothing (He merely formed things out of what was there) or deny the existence of hell and eternal punishment. Some still cling to universalism. Just because someone uses the same words doesn't mean the same meaning is meant. For example: I recently learned from a teenager that to be a "hater" just means you are saying something that can be considered negative by the hearer, no malicious intent is needed. "Wow, that driver has a lead foot." Would be qualify.

Beautiful message - we live (especially in Church) in a time where there is a Pastor Cult a Worship Team Cult but no true genuine christ like humility and quietness before the throne. God is not holy anymore, no he is a buddy that is where the trouble lies.
Moral Failure and Hypocrisy in the Church is directly proportionate to our commitment and submission to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by the Power of The Holy Spirit. We should NEVER compare ourselves to others in the "Church" or the body of Christ but ONLY to the Character and Nature of Jesus Christ Himself and His commands for us to follow. Throughout the Bible (Old and New Testament) we are provided all the direction we need to be totally committed to Him and Him alone (II Timothy 3:16-17). Those who say they are "Christian" and do not believe He is who He said He is will be like the individuals in Matthew 7:21-23. We have to die to self, making Him our all in all for His glory!
Peter's explanations don't touch upon the text as inspired which require an external authoritative tradition and the church's authority to bind and loose on the canon. The canon came from the catholic church's decrees to bind the canon at the Councils of hippo, Carthage, Florence, Trent and Vatican I with the assistant witness of the church fathers, mystics, doctors, saints and the Eucharistic liturgy. The Protestant denial of catholic church authority allows for sceptical scholarship created by the incompetent authority of history alone without reference to tradition and church councils.

These people make the most idiotic statements. Number 1. No one is claiming that Jesus affirmed people's personal sin. 2. This is an ontological argument concerning homosexuality and thus real oppression incurs from toxic theology that believes a person's is sinful from the way in which they were created. 4. Down playing the sin of the church against the treatment of gay people, does not excuse it. 3. The same statistics concerning vaginal cancer could be used against straight people. Is it loving to affirm straight people? 4. Have you ever heard of psychological trauma from religion?
A great topic. The church is not Jesus and Jesus is not the church. The amazing thing is that Jesus saw this coming all those years ago. Matthew 7:15 and 7:21. The message from God, as delivered by Jesus, is not to be taken by faith alone. God doesn't want mindless believers. A reason for the parables as described in Matthew 13. Only by understanding can we more easily see those who really get the good news and those who use the idea as some kind of scam.
The Bible says to confess out sins to one another. If that doesn't happen then Elders and Deacons have their difficult responsibility calling out wayward believers. But in a culture that has affirmed and rewarded individuality over and against community, the church in practice is less a collective body than a group of individuals. The divorce shows that at least half of the failed marriages have a sense of 2 individuals rather than one as a union. So insidiously, the body of Christ is fragmented more than it is unified. Building stronger Local Bodies, True Unity minded congregations is a prevailing concern.

I’m confused because you say it’s a sin for people to be attracted to someone of the same sex but then all your examples are of lust. When Alisa asks Christopher to give a real world example so people aren’t OCD about sin he completely disregarded the question and then Alisa moves on so this isn’t clarified which it should be. Also you say Preston doesn’t hold to a traditional view of marriage but he has a two part video on holding to a traditional view of marriage.
