In Todays video I am running through the things that are required for me to start my business up as an electrician Thanks for watching Socials - linktr.ee/adam... www.rhinotrade...
Adam you won't regret it. Your real learning the trade starts now. Self experience is worth 10times what you've learnt so far. Will always be here for any advice if required. Bob 40years in the trade.
You have a good head on your shoulders and I'm sure you will have a successful company as do the other electricians around you, you do have an advantage over others in the fact that you had the opportunity to work for Nick who not only is good at house bashing but has run his own business for several years and can steer you in the right direction but also you can draw on the experience of others such as JRC ,Artisan Jimbo and Cory who like you took a leap of faith to become successful. Well done and I wish I had all this information at my finger tips when I started out 40 years ago. Good luck with the future young man 🎉
Adam, Dont stress mate your going to AMAZING MATE !! Its good to be the best Nick had trained you well. Your going to fly. Running a Business is mainley forword planning and DEFO NOT over thinking stuf. PLAN YOUR WEEK. REST. AND TURN UP WHEN YOU SAY YOU WILL REMEMBER YOUR TRAINING FROM NICK. sorry about the caps lock. 🤙🤙
Really impressive, Adam. Brilliant that you’ve saved money. The only advice I can offer (because you seem to have it sussed already) is to maybe look at big engineering projects in big Cities. Either at home or abroad. A bit of life experience while you’re earning a nice few quid. And seeing places you might not otherwise see. No rush before the Mrs and kids keep you nearer to home. You’ll also have some nice stories to tell. Either way, you’ll be a big success with your skills and attitude. Best of luck.
Please carry this on I’m exactly the same as you 20, looking to set up as sole trader but stuck on how to do it, I’m currently in full time work for a company but something I’m looking towards
Hi Adam i work doing commercial electrical work. We do 3 phase old panels with pull out fuses. We gut them out and put in Schindler acti 9. My advice is to you, is most commercial lighting is switched by Dali. I recommend learning that and as well as looking into motors etc
Great to see your progress Adam. A few pointers. Have a look at an advanced driving course. Some insurance companies offer upto 25% discount on vehicle insurance premiums. For commercial and industrial work look at getting you IPAF and maybe IOSH. i look forward to your future videos
Buying the van is a lot of money in that, you can lease the van and keep the cash, this is how I did because I’m starting my business now too, a new small van around 20k and I prefer to put a 5k deposit and i pay 300 pounds per month I keep the rest of my money in the account, just a case of something, because the cash is king And I know a new van it’s not gonna broke down for three years that’s why I didn’t buy old because he can broke down, thanks anyway, keep going keep going you’re good and you gonna be a success man cheers 👍
My Dad told me to buy the best tools I could afford at the time, then when you had the money buy better ones. My tool insurance is now £45,000. I'm 58 and have been upgrading all my life
11:01 From my experience I would get your domain setup first as this gives you an identity. I wouldn’t worry about a web page but you will need it for your email address. Another thing I do is don’t use your real mobile number on any of your contact details, get yourself a virtual phone number from the start. This lets you separate business from pleasure and might not mean much at the start but definitely helps down the line. All of the above takes about 10 minutes to setup. There’s nothing worse than trying to transition contact details further down the line, it also lets you get your business cards and all that jazz done. Just my two cents though, easier to do it at the start than later on. Keep it up and good luck, I’m sure you won’t need it though.
interesting on How you’re going about starting your new business and what is involved, especially the paperwork side and insurance & tools , my choice of tools is Milwaukee , All Best Adam⚡️👊
Great content Adam. Good to see how much you've grown in confidence. Full circle would be to see you get an apprentice in a couple of years when your business has taken off. Keep up the good work
have a good head on your shoulders well done save your money up i think apprenticeships are very good idea shall did it went down that path but we had yts then not got no qualifications i did online courses Level 3 Award in Learning GCSE Maths achieving a Merit on and Level 3 Award in Adult Literacy and Numeracy achieving a Higher Distinction on
Hey Adam, good luck 🎉 you said about a spreadsheet you’d link below to help with the books? Any change of adding it to the description. Would love to take a look and use it
Great video Have you considered using an iPad instead of a laptop? I know Nick has used one for ages. It’s great for doing your certification, as is iMovie for video editing. It just might be a bit more practical on site with it’s compact size and touch screen. You can also get a drop proof case with built-in pop up stand that pretty much completely encases it and protects it from dust and water.
Great vid, you want to get Nick to make a montage video of your best bits over the last few years.... An also maybe repost your first ever vid with him... Good luck
Cracking video lad. Very level headed and considering required aspects before spending it all🤣 Still working towards my NVQ3 etc, but set up as a sole trader etc for subbing and small bits of personal work. Would be interested to see the spreadsheet you mentioned (bookkeeping?) - couldn't see any links etc in the comments... Can you give me a pointer?
I'm sure you'll do great Adam. And despite what Nick says I prefer my dewalt to my old bosch...could you provide links for making your own website. Cheers 👍
Loved this video pal, I’m applying to college next September I’ll be 23 then so starting abit later in life. I am a mechanic by trade and had a daughter at 19 who I adore but had a change of heart and decided I wanted to be a sparky. Have u got any tips?
Great video - really helpful! You mention a link to a spreadsheet but I can't find it - do you have a link you can post? Nice to see you make it on your own, it's obvious you've got skills. I'm a couple years behind you in my training but it gives hope to us in the process seeing you making such a success of it!
Hey Adam, why did you go Sole trader over Limited Company? Also My Lad is just starting his journey and will be starting College in September We hve been trying to get him some work experience throughout the holiday season and every Electrician we approached said no because they cant afford the insurance premiums, how did you manage to find Nick and talk him into taking you on as an apprentice?
Oh and in your situation i wouldn't even consider paying for "advertising". You've already got a good RU-vid following and word of mouth will get you all the business you need. Don't run before you can walk.
Don't buy expensive gadgets that you don't need. Its tempting to buy the latest and greatest of everything but don't! Keep your overheads as low as possible within reason and maximize profits... and on that subject cash is king! 😉
How did you get your gold card so fast? I did my am2 a week or so before you, jtl are saying I need to wait for a completion certificate to go to my employer. I'm still waiting... 🙄 Jtl haven't been the best for me.
