It is my life goal to recreate the Night Lords army that appears in Azrael: Keeper of the Truth by Gav Thorpe. They’re heavily decked out in Heresy era gear (and a fair share of Daemon engines like Heldrakes) and have a surprising amount of Cataphractii squads in their number. They also have a unique Castraferrum Dreadnought which has scythes instead of hands. But by far, the thing I want to recreate the most is their HQ: a Terminator Daemon Prince and a horrifically mutated Sorcerer. They also had like… 1k points worth of Cultists of one form or another, though they functioned more like ghoulish puppets that the Sorcerer commanded around.
Something fun I noticed in the codex is that Haarken Worldclaimer is confirmed to be an ex-nightlord and he lead a warband called The Gloomtalons. So if you want a named character in your NL army he is a valid choice.
That makes a ton of sense. I always wondered why Haarkan, Lord of the Host Raptoral, wasn't leading in the Night Lords, who are KNOWN for their terror tactics and jump troops
I love your suggestion about the charismatic Chaos Lord bringing a unique quality to his Warband. That's exactly what I did with my Chaos Marine army. Mine look a bit more polished because my Lord demands that his troops maintain their dignity and discipline. But you can vary the models in all kinds of ways to make them your own.
I started my new Night Lords army by buying the 9e CSM Combat Patrol before it was replaced by the inferior 10e CP box. Then I cannibalized a portion of my CSM Black Legion collection, mainly Raptors and Warp Talons that I’ve rarely used since 10e launched. I also had a Chaos Terminators squad that I originally bought for my World Eaters army that I never used… ‘cuz Eightbound. I bought the Dread Talons Battleforce to expand my Night Lords army - although the Dark Commune and Accursed Cultists are for my Black Legion because they don’t really fit with Night Lords. I was disappointed that the new Jump Pack Chaos Lord can only lead Raptors. I was planning to build the 10 Jump Pack models in the BF box as Warp Talons for the JP Chaos Lord to lead, but I’ll have to build them as Raptors instead. I wish there was a character that could lead Warp Talons! I also bought 2 Chaos Predators for my Night Lords army to give them some anti-vehicle/monster firepower and ranged damage to chip away at enemy units to enable my squads to force Battleshock tests when they close in. I don’t know how effective the Dread Talons detachment rules will be, but I want to give it a try. What I’m really waiting for is the Night Lords Kill Team boxes. I plan on buying at least two of the Kill Teams and transporting 10 Legionaries in Rhinos to get them into combat and wreak havoc. I also hope GW will sell the Night Lords Upgrades sprue separately so I can use it to customize my Chaos Terminators, Havocs, and vehicles. I wish the Night Lords Dreadnought from Forge World was available in plastic. I’m also interested in that Kickstarter thing that Auspex plugged.
This may be the most conveniently released video of all time. I just got the Dread Talons box the other day and have been wondering how I would go about making a Night Lords army. Thank you!
This video literally got me to start with Night Lords when I was doubting my thoughts on what army to start, if I win the vehicle giveaway I am totally going to use it on that army 🤤
The HH box is exactly what i bought for my Night Lords. I started them for a 1 night farewell gameof Hours Hersey for our store manager and kitbashed a lot of them with my Soulblight Kits. Now i play them in 40k, because "lore wise" it makes sense that my rag tag bunch of murdering raiders still wears the HH armor, due to not being suplyed by anyone.
Tip if youre playing night lords: run the renegade raider detachment instead of dread talons. It still allows for the same skirmish playstyle NL the known for while being 10x better than the crappy battleshock rules in the dread talons detachment
First time i draw the connection between curze and the word curse... I will make the current combatpatrols with nightlord units and probably the older combat patrol as well in order to play both of them in the game mode. I thought of painting my possesed in my blood raven colours. Lore behind it is that the night lords captured some blood ravens and then summoned demons in them. Now they send these mutated monsters against their former brother to shock and anger them.
If you want to lean heavily into the Nightlords theme, then you can take 3 units of 10 Raptors, 3 units of 10 Warp Talons and 3 Jump Pack Lords for 1440 points. Leaving you plenty of points for Legionaires in Rhinos, Bikers or whatever else takes your fancy.
Well the issue then comes that any video could be Alpha Legion, and any previous video. The next thing you watch may be an Alpha Legion Video and you won't know until it's too late. Or this may all be a lie
my goal for my night lords is to 3d print as much of it as possible, with the exceptions being the winged daemon prince and the Venomcrawlers because I havent found good STLs of those lol
Night Lords are my main army. Played my first game with the new Codex the other day. Sure as shit didn't play Dread Talons 😅 Raiders works sooo much better for them.
What weapon category will these fall under in the data cards, like the twin talon model, or the icon bearer, will he count as the chaos icon? Still learning warhammer, so would love some light shed
I really like the night lords, and I would start them. But it's hard to get behind any army that doesn't have a Primach any longer. We live in the age of seeing them come into the game, eventually anyways.
Know we can't get Curze, but iirc Jago Sevetarian was never confirmed to be dead, just suspected by the rest of the night lords. Curse even with his future sight never saw that he fell on the Siege of Terra, so I personally head Canon him alive. (And I use his 30k model as my Chaos lord for my 40k NL army)
@@katastrophe8321we just need... something...someone... Sevatar, Decimus, Variel...I want an official named character damn it. Dread Talons needs the help 😥
The night lords also got wrecked by the ashen claws technically the first ever chapter made up of renegade ravens guard corax sent to die in the ghoul stars who while renegade are tolerated by the rest of imperium
Night lords are the chaos army I always have the hardest time "getting" the appeal of collecting in bulk. A kill team sure, but a whole army is something else. Loved what ADB did for them, but they themselves see their ranks as full of weenies and ciwards. Why would I collect cowards?
@@averagekreigertrue some actually proved to be warriors just the majority of legion where criminal scum dressed up as “knights” . I’m still kinda new to the franchise, but it’s because of this factor along with many other reasons Konrad hated his legion.
@@solid-snake7336 When you're weeping over not having decent models, do your 3D printed Skyrim-standard blobs make you feel better? No? That's what I thought.
