I have started airsofting recently and I started out out of shape... MORBIDLY obese... and alone... I've made friends... lost weight... and gained self confidence. Airsoft has saved my life to an extent because the community is so amazing. I love everyone in the airsoft community as a whole because without it I wouldn't be here and happy... I'd probably be on a psychiatrist's weird bed, couch thing...

Hi andrew stowe your comment is really inspiring and it takes a lot of courage to say what you stated in public. I had the chance to play two games with a guy who lost half his leg in a car accident and despite his mobility issues he played side by side with everybody so I understand every word you mean. Keep up the good work. RESPECT from Argentina!

Well, I knew more about paintball than airsoft when I was a bambi a few years back when I hadn't played either. Airsoft was designed by a Japanese guy to replace paintball (from what I've heard) so paintball existed before airsoft. Personally I think airsoft is better, purely because of the guns. Sexy F2000 or chrome odd looking paintball gun

Yeah, I bet they would be because 50% percent of our fields are covered in paint, so much for the rain washing it off, the paint has hardened so much I have to whack it with a Thompson to get it off. But the other 50% is pretty cool.

Hey Ben, yeah it's certainly on my to-do list and will be up in the near future. What I can say now is that it is really dependent on where and what type of games you play, so any gear guide should not be strictly followed.

I chose my rifle on behalf of rifle shooting not to do the sport directly. But I hope to start doing games in the future. When I chose my gun it took me around 6 odd months to find my gun. There has got to be more than 200k airsofters in the whole world, that means that the UK has more than 10% of the total. Aside from that though, nice idea on the video, bringing in other people's views was a good call. I shall point all the people asking me via PM day in day out in your direction lol.

My calculation of that figure was underestimated, as I dont know how accurate the estimation of the American population was. Still, if you want to find the original source for the statistic google "airsoft statistics" and it should be the first link you find.

first airsoft game I went too I was on my own (note take a friend first time lol) :P thankfully two guys who were together parked ether side of me and prob saw I was bricking it and helped me out a lot teaching me about hop up, brands of gun, good websites to get equipment and afew tips of stuff that would help me play better, they even let me team with them though the day.....haven't seen them since tho whitch is a bummer as I would love to thank them for being so friendly and helping me out, get to play with them again.....honestly tho airsofters are some of the friendest people I have met, you do get the add idoits who try ruin things like all things in life (ppl using crazy fps guns with heavy bb to get though the corno, not taking hits, pretending to be dead etc) but its rare and they normaly get kicked off field pretty fast

This is why I love the game. If you can get with a group of mature, smart tactical guys, this game can become an experience. So much fun, especially when you do those week long "wars" in huge woodlands. And yes, I love showing off my gun. I modify mine. Right now my baby is a really nice UTG UHC 1911 airsoft pistol, pullback load and everything. I modified it with a laser and red-dot sight. Loads of fun, great side arm when in a pinch, and looks frigging cool and intimidating. I have yet to participate in an official airsoft game, but my bro's and I like playing it.

When I decided to get into airsoft I decided to play indoors first since it was more affordable for me. Just needed face protection, a gun and some mags although I also bought a vest a pistol, a holster and some hard knuckle gloves (always heard knuckle shots hurt). "Airsoft is a game" some people tend to forget that I think, we all enjoy the game better when we keep that in mind.

Nash, I'm glad there is people like you who welcome new airsofters. my friends and I play cod, and still play with nerf guns, but I always thought airsoft guns had to be bough, not rented. my friend has a few, mostly pistols, but we often don't have ammo for said airsoft guns. so we mess around with nerf guns. but we still have fun. so maybe for my next birthday I'll go out airsofting on a real airsoft field.

@Krispe
@Krispe 7 лет назад
Definitely don't start with a handgun. You will always be using your rifle more than your handgun. If you decide you want to buy a gun, go for a gun that's around $200-$250, those usually are very decent rifles, after that, go for a handgun.
@randomguy93984
@randomguy93984 7 лет назад
Jonas Pelzman handguns are cool, but they are a lot of work and have no ammo, so prepare to have a lot of mags
@BrainEatPenguin
@BrainEatPenguin 7 лет назад
Unless you have lots of money I wouldn't recommend a handgun, mags are expensive, and you WILL drop them, buy a decent rifle, dont buy a plate carrier or "vest", save that money for a good higher end gun.

I just want to say thank you for this video. I wasnt feeling this for the first minute or so, but the overall way this video was put together, the great footage, great advise, really made this one of my favorite airsoft videos on how to get started. I love that it was made with input from other players. I love that it was interspersed with excellent game play examples in such a fantastic location. Also whoever was the player we watch throughout, congrats on being a good sport. Folks like you make the game what it is. I wish we had folk with half as much honor and integrity when i played paintball for a decade and a half. One of the reasons Im now switching to this lovely game.

I'd recommend starting with an M4 platform, as it is very upgradeable as you grow as a player and has lots of available parts. Since M4 variants are abundant, you can find many styles at great prices! G&G makes a good looking Mk18 mod 0 for around 200$. Save your pennies for a good decent gun, it will make your experience much better. I like how in the video you mention dont be afraid to get hit. Thats a very good tip fellas, its no fun being scared. Plus, youll be away from the action hiding at spawn!

I personally prefer G&G Combat machines for beginning airsofters ( because I have a Combat machine R8-L myself ) you get the bang for your buck and with some attachments like grips and such you can really hit the ground running with a gun that you have made to fit your play style. Hope this helps someone!

So basics for battle mostly looks like this: 1)Don't afraid of dying. 2)Be fast and efficient. 2.25)Don't concentrate your fire only at one target. 2.50)Don't Afraid of retreating. 2.75)See everything. 3)Shoot first - ask questions second. 4)Provoke enemy fire 1) You shouldn't afraid of being hit - you will be hit many times through the games, as well, hit many enemy targets as well. 2)Don't stay at one place for too long - enemy can just remember your position and flank you, or just pin you down with suppressing fire. As for now - moving is your life. Shoot first, try to not look down sights at close range contacts. 2.25) Don't concentrate your fire only at one target - as it works just some kind of tunnel vision, you see only one enemy, but there's more. 2.50) It has nothin to afraid - you should survive as long as you can, because the best soldier is soldier that has great perfomance and is alive. Also retreating means moving, which is good. 2.75) Look up for new enemy even if you already have/proceed battle some bunch of guys you need to take down. Your eye's should work like radar, scan your sector for presence of the enemy. Greatly reduces chances of being flanked. 3) If you see a person in the distance, and you can not understand who he is, shoot him up. Don't be afraid of being hit an friendly. But don't overdo it, or your team will have much more casualties from you, rather than from the enemy. 4) It may help you detect an disguised enemy. Greatly helps with ambushes and snipers in the woods. Through some "veteran" airsofters may just not react, while n00bs will shoot straight away. If you getting fire from unknown direction, do these steps: Burst fire for one direction, then jump to cover. Your burst fire should be fast, instictive. After that - quckly look for any presence of the enemy (You hear movement, you see enemy movement, etc), then jump to cover. Simple, and pretty much effective.

One piece of advice when purchasing an airsoft gun, i have found the cheaper the guns better they are, for example i brought an G36C for £125 in 2009 and now in 2014 it is still firing at 330 fps, high than those i have recently brought which were £279, so for 5 years now my G36C is going great, the most reliable gun!! Also I would advise to have common guns as they are more reliable for your 1st weapon (this i know will be disagreed on) Cheers

Ha just watching random airsoft vids and wondering if I can ask my parents for a pistol (I tried my friends dragon gun) I'm only 9 and my 10 bday is next year so is there any rules or whatever that can make 10-13 year old allowed to play because I want to get as much experience as possible as soon as possible I just want a pistol that I can use at a site that is like 10 and over

I have ski goggles will those do with a face mask? And do you need body protection that is size 11-12 or 12-13 that's what size I am just tell me a £90-£110 pistol that I can buy I'll get all the stuff and go play
@thomasbuchan18
@thomasbuchan18 10 лет назад
Joe Ellis if a parent buys you the gun it is legal to own. To play anywhere you will need a responsible adult to attend with you. I wouldn't start with a pistol, they require a lot of maintenance and you have problems of mag capacity, gas to power the pistol and mags are more expensive. I would start by renting a gun then later get a budget aeg. Ski goggles will not do, the lenses are not strong enough and it doesn't cover your whole face, just buy a £10 full face mesh mask body protection isn't required.

***** you're wrong to play at most sites in the UK you need to be 10+ and you NEED an responsible adult to play with you or else you don't play, this is a rule for every site in the UK

Airsoft in my opinion is by far more realistic. In paintball, there is a giant co2 tank sticking off of your gun. Plus, there is no mess so you don't have to worry about getting paint all over yourself and having to where different gear every time you play.
@manueldiaz8076
@manueldiaz8076 10 лет назад
Thanks for the replays and i will check the video… but Titans 'R' us as i said i am a paintballer and the paint wipes off easily and paintball is not meant to be realistic its kinda more of a sport (both airsoft and paintball are sports, i know) sorry for my english
@GunFunZS
@GunFunZS 10 лет назад
Depends on which style of game. I think there are a lot more sadists with hot guns and overshooting in airsoft. IMO "realistic' is an absurd term unless you define it. Airsoft feels more like a firearm than the average paintball gun, but shoots less like one, in that there is even less cyclic mass and there is much less effective range. No mess, but more pain. Less proof. Ammo is light and easy to carry, so no bulky gear. There are things to like about both. Either way you want to start with a good mask. IMO PB guns have higher build quality and are easier to tech on. Mechboxes in cheaper Airsoft guns are going to need a lot of new parts if you try to increase your rate of fire or velocity, so plan your mods around this knowledge. I should add that for either, the biggest factor in fun is the people you have to play with. If they are jerks or unskilled you are going to have a bad time. If either in your area has a culture of cheating, it will get old very fast. Good opponents > good gear. See also fair refs that match the teams evenly and enforce rules.

@GovermentGamer
@GovermentGamer 10 лет назад
my tip; 1) buy a groin cup, sometimes you accidentally get shot in the groin, needless to say it hurts. also you can get a groin protector for vests. 2) stay away from shotguns, revolvers, snipers. even tho they are fun to use, for new players they tend to be frustrating to get used to. 3)GET A GUN BAG AND DO NOT PLAY WITH THEM OUTSIDE! The police may get called on you if you. you need to keep a gun in a gun bag during transporing to a airsoft field. playing outside or not having gun bag can get your gun taken away, and charged with brandishing a weapon, vandalism/ defacement (if you gun damages others properity), as well as assault with a deadly weapon (if you shoot someone) 4) never buy a gun from big 5 or a sporting goods store, they sell crap. Instead go to an actual airsoft/paintball store.

First weapon: Should I buy small (£70-100) pistol first or go for a more expensive option ($360) F2000. I know I'll love the sport, even though I'm not fully into it yet. I watch so much airsoft, played paintball a few times. Airsoft seems my thing. The F2000 by the way, is my favourite gun from Battlefield 3 (I know airsoft is not like a video game). it's a G&G model that gets 5 star reviews everywhere.
@jacobjohansson4684
@jacobjohansson4684 10 лет назад
Well, I would recommend buying something more expensive, it's always better and actually people use their primary gun more than a pistol.
@skink356209

I'd say go ahead and get the F2000 if that's what you want, but I'd get something cheaper (i.e. a CYMA AK or something like that) and also get a pistol and holster

I've started playing airsoft with friends when I was around 11. Now I'm 18 and I want to get into bigger fields and playing. There is a site a few miles away and the only thing stopping me is how much I should get before I go out like gun, protection, etc. I'm not sure how much I should spend on gear.

I'm just starting to get into airsoft, I've already played a few games at my uncle's Airsoft/Paintball Business. I already have a few years of experience with paintball, and from what I can tell, it is very similar to airsoft. So My question is, knowing that I have a strong love for the game, what type of gun should I get? My price range is anything under $450-$500 USD, I'm willing to go a bit out of my price range for a better quality weapon. I'd really like something that is, effective, reliable, practical, good at CQC and at decent ranges, and (This mite sound dumb but) looks badass :D. Also, is it dumb to play with only a good pair of glasses, a face bandana, and a hat? Or would it be more sensible to wear full face protection? I'm not worried about being hit, I'm worried about losing an eye. Now all that in mind I'd love any and all suggestions! Sorry this went a little long :/

when i was young the people who lived across the street from me used to play airsoft and they'd do it all around the block, everyone knew them so it was cool, no one was suspicious. But i was always interested and i'd go over and watch them trying to stay out of the way (occasionally i'd be used as a hostage haha or to pick up used bb's off the ground and givem to them) But i was young so my parents wouldn't allow me to actually play with them (and they would get upset when i was even around it, my mom hated guns cause of an experience she had when she was younger) I'm 18 now so I tend to make more of my own decisions and just today i played my first round ever with some buddies from school and i was scared shitless of getting shot, but once i got shot a few times (hurt a bit) i got over it and we just ran around and taking cover behind things in my friends back yard, and i have to say i enjoyed it quite a lot. Even getting shot was enjoyable (As long as it wasn't in the face) I'm deciding to go out and get a cheap gun (the ones my friends had were cheap pistols, except a few of them had some snipers that were high powered and 100+ dollars they said) and i'm looking forward to playing it again sometime :) thanks for the video i enjoyed it!

In my opinion full masks aren't the best since you can get shot from the rear in the back of the head and that can leave Welts on the back of your head I recommend a good set of goggles lower mesh or a thick ski mask with lower face mesh and a helmet that will cover the back of your head. I have been airsofting since about 2010 and this is what I have been using for 6 years and it works great if you have the budget.
