My 7-month-old Siberian Husky/Pit Bull/Doberman mix puppy is still whining in the crate. She's not afraid of it, and sleeps in it just fine. I never go to her while she's whining...but when it gets within an hour or two of when she's supposed to be let out I think she gets anxious or excited. I understand she's young and maybe still needs some maturation for self-control, but it really bothers me. Any ideas? I make sure she has something to chew on. If she starts before I'm supposed to get her, I wait for a good few seconds' break in it before I even start walking towards the crate, but it doesn't seem to be helping much.

Also, the crate is appropriately large for her adult size.

It sounds like you are doing a lot of the right stuff already. Just make sure she is also getting enough exercise and mental stimulation in general and especially prior to being crated so the crate gets associated with rest. Stay consistent and give it time. Also, some dogs can just be more vocal than others especially when they anticipate excitement.
