I Noah Thomas, the creator of this channel, have been diagnosed hypogonadism by a medical doctor and legally prescribed the medically indicated treatment of Testosterone Replacement Therapy.
My Story
My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a medication called VIVITROL and consequently, spiraled into a suicidal depression with depersonalization and anxiety. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who, along with many siblings and friends, had to watch me 24/7 as I was a danger to myself. Eventually I was hospitalized in the Psych Ward for a week. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different doctor prescribed SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, mood stabilizers, anti-psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I had an explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started legally prescribed testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 6 years, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Treating my low testosterone has been 1 HUGE part of the puzzle but I have had to continue to work hard to hold on to my mental stability with many set backs. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor.
I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time and I also share this on my channel.

Thankyou for spreading this awareness. I’ve really been struggling with disturbing thoughts since my last birthday in March. Hearing this makes me feel so much better.

“Do yooo thang Noah’s brain” made me LOL. I’ve been in these thought patterns too, a classic sigh of high level anxiety.

Noah the first step is to realise it is not YOU who is thinking this thought. Your brain is just throwing up creative and strange ideas and associations - it is the ego-dystonic ones which you latch on to and give all the power. You need to re-frame stuff like 'I am having a thought' to 'my brain is giving me/showing me an idea/suggestion '. You need to separate the 'I' from the thought. It totally sounds like OCD - have you ever had ERP?

I successfully ruined every area of my life with alcohol. That's pretty anxiety inducing. Digging my way out over the past two years was no walk in the park either. Sobriety is the only way forward. A wise person once said "Keep doin what you're doin and keep gettin what you're gettin". Actions lead to outcomes.

It can be helpful (although not always) to research freewill. As far as I can tell, we don't have free will in the colloquial sense that most people envision. For example, you might think you could have chosen chocolate when you chose vanilla, or you could have chosen to go to bed 5 minutes earlier than you did. These are choices we intuitively assume are and experience as "free". We were free to do the opposite, or nothing at all, or something entirely different. Much like the thoughts that arise in consciousness, we have no control over anything, no matter how big or small. Free will can be effectively dismantled subjectively, biologically, and from a physics perspective. You have no more control over the next thought you think or next action you take than you had over which country you'd be born in or which family you'd be born into. We are beings in a deterministic universe that follow the same laws of nature as everything else. It's only our meta-cognition and awareness that inserts this illusion of a "chooser", or a "decider", or the way most people experience reality, as a self. The arguments range from pretty simple to quite complicated, but are pretty airtight, imo. I would suggest seeking out Sam Harris' and Robert Sapolsky's work for the nitty gritty. On the other hand, some people find a lack of free will more disconcerting than helpful or liberating, so if that's you, then I'd advise you take a pass, as the transition from living under the impression you have freewill to not can be extremely jarring. Having said that, it has been extremely helpful to me and many others.

I've been struggling with very similar thoughts as well Noah so I understand exactly how you feel. Have you ever thought of deliverance through a Christian church? I've thought about it a lot to be honest. The problem is that i don't know of any churches in my area that do that. I hope and i pray that one of these days I will find a Church that can deliver me from all these evil demonic thoughts, I've been struggling with. May our Father in Heaven Lord Jesus bless you and your subscribers, and remember people you all matter you all really do.

I have that same thing. Its my main "theme" of worry...going crazy/psychotic/schizophrenic somehow. The changes in perception we experience is DP/DR from the stress of it. You might feel kinda "dissociated" when it happens and it only makes our fear worse because it is weird indeed but that is actually an automatic safety response that our brains have to stress. I gotta say tho. This fear of going crazy is absolutely awful. If you have/had panic attacks due to it like me it is even worse because you just get these flight/fight response adrenaline rushes from thinking of panic attacks related to it and the senses get heightened alot so it feels like you on a brink of going crazy or start hearing or seeing something at any moment... couple that with feeling weird from dp/dr its a recipe for spiraling quick into a panic attack. Thankfully this is all on our heads...it never happens..people who are crazy/psychotic/schizophrenic are not aware of it ...we are the opposite of that since we are waaay to much aware of whats going on

Got a question. I came from another video and you said something along the lines of your life was on the line, so you had to keep going and change. How did you manage that? I've had that thought too, but when I'm depressed, I don't care if I die, so that's not motivating to me. I've been fit, I know that's an important foundational piece for me. My weights bounced all over, because I'll be doing good, then I'll get hit off course and completely fall back and usually end up in worse shape.
@bignoknow

I appreciate the honesty. I think change for me happened by taking the minimal amount of a new action or habit one day at a time until it became part of my identity and then slowly adding more. Keeping the barrier for entry extremely low helps too. A workout, for example, might start as a 1 minute fast walk each day for 2 weeks. The 2 minutes… the 3. Apply this logic to anything and slowly but surely you’re someone who works out. Regardless of motivation.

I think what you are describing is called OCD - I have it and it sounds very similar - The only thing we can pat ourselves on the sholder is that non-intellegent people don't have that ... and that is the only perk of it totally not worth the price we have to pay on a daily basis.
