Great video guys. I was worried about sea sickness on our first cruise. I did not have any issues even in a bit of rough seas. But bring something just in case.

I haven't had the pleasure of going on a cruise yet, but ginger ale and saltines work best for me when my tummy is not feeling good. These are great tips!

You can not talk yourself out of it. I was on a ferry in the North Sea on a very stormy night. Many ships/ferries could not even get to their destinations that night. I did lay in bed and said, "I'll be fine." NOPE!

One very late suggestion, but if you're going on your balcony for fresh air or to focus on the horizon... resist the temptation to look at the hypnotic waves. Yes they're lovely to look at but looking down at waves will make your motion sickness worse. I've gotten seasick on a larger ship before while on smaller ships I do just fine (my grandfather owned a boat and we'd be out in some seriously choppy water and I'd be fine, but once on that cruise ship staring at pretty waves, that sea sickness happened). The green apples and ginger ale saves me every time. I wear a sea band because my thought is... why not. If it helps, great! If it doesnt, well then I look like the other thousand people wearing them. And I keep dramamine in both my purse and in my cabin. I might check out that behind the ear patch thing though. Cant hurt!

I actually enjoy the very front with an Ocean view, so I can see out. An aft cabin in ocean view or verandah is also very nice as you can step out, get some air and find the horizon.

I never worry about sea sickness. I get the lovely land-sickness instead. Same as sea-sickness but only after getting off ships and planes. :( May try some of these tips for it though! :)

Even though I'm a seasoned sailor/cruiser I have been seasick! I keep busy; so much to do on a cruise.

Another great job. I have heard crew members swear by green apples. I would personally try the natural route first as pretty much all of the medications can make you sleepy. I am thankful this has never been a problem for me and my favorite pastime on a ship is reading. I actually enjoy the ship rocking a bit particularly at night while sleeping.

We’re in the process of booking our 3rd Viking cruise for August 2021!! I get motion sickness VERY easily. Our first cruise in the Mediterranean was not bad. I used the prescription Scopolamine patch and it worked well. Second cruise was a transatlantic voyage beginning in Puerto Rico. Seas were so rough we embarked early and had to skip a stop in Saint Lucia. I wore the patch again, but I was SO sick! Ugh! Even my husband, who never get motion sickness, was feeling ill. I was in bed for four days! By that time, I was due to change my patch. Idk if it was the fresh patch, calmer seas, or my getting used to being on the water, but I was much better after that! I’m kind of worried about this next cruise. We will be on the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea. For some reason those do not sound to me like they would be calm waters!

I have been cruising since the early 80s and I swear by the ginger cure. No interactions with other meds and it is water soluable. Thanks for another great bit of info. Keep up the good work.

I do use motion sickness pulls for the first few days of a cruise while my body and mind acclamate to the motion. Typically, I take a pill at the pier before boarding or with lunch on the ship before departure. Throughout the cruise I choose the fresh ginger available in the Asian section of the buffet and either steep in a cup of tea or eat with breakfast foods every morning. When the waves are rough, I will lie in my bed and try to enjoy the motion by imagining that I'm body surfing or on a roller coaster rather than fretting and trying to fight the motion. Changing that perception to an enjoyable activity helps minimize the self imposed stress you might induce by trying to 'fight' the motion.

I see my Doctor before I leave and he gives me an RX for the patch. I've also used Ginger (candied Ginger works extremely well), and an OTC motion ease. One of the stewards told me that a lot of them use the motion ease as it is very natural, and eat the candied ginger, which you can find on HAL ships right outside the dining room. Also if you go to Guest services they will have chewable tablets to prevent seasickness. They give them to you free, as they really want you to enjoy your time aboard ship and spend money!

Love your videos! I use a homeopathic remedy called Movease. It smells good and really helps me! It helps me with car sickness also. I have also used Scopolamine patches which works but causes very dry mouth.

If u keep yer belly full yer belly doesn't have empty space and u don't feel queasy that's why there is always food on a cruise. I was in the. Coast Guard and there was always food available when we where underway.

We found if we put an ear plug in one ear helps even if you have already started to feel sick. Kwells are amazing as well you’ll just feel like you have a dry mouth, just keep up your water

Oh Ben, what's with the hair?? 🙂 I recently subscribed but I'm looking back at some of your videos. It's funny to see how you two have changed FOR THE BETTER as you have aged 🙂 (I'm not aging by the way, and I'm a liar)

Haha, thanks for noticing the hair! Gotta keep things interesting, right? 😄 We appreciate your subscription and taking the time to watch our older videos. It's true, we've all changed over time, but we like to think it's for the better. And hey, age is just a number, right? We're all young at heart. Thanks for the laughs, and we hope you enjoy our videos, both old and new! 🎥🌟
